Hi, I'm new to this forum. I'm wondering if anyone has had experience of the following.  My cat had his booster vax (nobivac tricat trio and nobivac felv-first time he's had nobivac) a couple of weeks ago. A few days ago I notice he has a large hard
lump on the back of his head/neck. The vet doesn't know what it is and has suggested putting in a needle and taking cells if it doesn't go down on its own. I'm not saying its the vax but it is a coincidence. He is also microchipped so maybe this has moved? Has anyone any ideas/views? Thanks.

I have heard of lumps at vaccine sites, normally they are nothing to worry about but if it stays there or gets bigger I think I would go down the exploratory option as there is a (rare) condition whereby a sarcoma can develop at the vaccine site.  From what I've read it is quite uncommon so it's more than likely nothing to worry about but good that the vet is aware of it as such an early stage and can monitor it.

I don't think the microchip having moved would be a likely cause, my cats microchip moved and you can't feel it at all - I only found out when he was scanned at his yearly booster/check up.

Do a search on the vaccine, cant remember if its one that has any problems.

I agree - this is something an experienced vet should have on their radar.  I would certainly mention it to your vet and ask them to do some research.  Hopefully it will be nothing at all to be concerned about, but better safe than to overlook something like this.   :hug: :hug:
