Title: Hi New member!
Post by: nelliestew on November 17, 2007, 22:12:33 PM
Hiya
I'm here for some help!My persian girl is obsessively overgrooming - and I'm wondering as to whether or not buy a companion for her. There is another cat in the house - who avoids her - and recently another persian died - who hated her.
Not sure what to do
Any help appreciated

 :welcome 2: To Purrs!

I can't offer much help on this but have forwarded this topic to Gillian who has pretty as much experience with Persians as most of us do with eating.

Hope you enjoy the forum and you have to have to have to post some piccies of yoru babies!

Hi and welcome!
It sounds like its stress related, but I would get her a check up at the vets first, just to rule out any illness/parasites etc.

I wouldnt think about a companion for her right now - it seems you already have a bit of a problem with her and the other cat, adding another probably won't help the situation. It may be a reaction to the death of your other persian - even though they didnt get along, its surprising, but she may just miss the confrontations! It may also be a reaction to your grief too, they are so sensitive and pick up on all our emotions.

Hi and  :welcome: to Purrs,

Sorry I can't help with the over grooming issue ... but I just wanted to say Hello, and hope you have a good time here.

Thankyou to everyone from your warm welcome - I will look forward to posting!

Thanks Gillian - I will take on board your advice and take Molly to the vet to get her checked out.  Gracie is a moggy with a touch of norwegian in her - and she just makes warning noises to Moll whenever she approaches! She has only just started to slep in the house now that the other cat, lilly,  has gone - she's much more affectionate!

Best Wishes
nellie

 :welcome: Nellie!

Hope Molly and Gracie settle down soon - I'm sure you will get plenty of good advice here, especially from Gillian, who is the resident Persian Guru :evillaugh:
Everyone here is really friendly and supportive - a word of warning, though - you WILL get hooked on this forum! I was warned about the addictive nature of this pace, but didn't take it seriously - I know better now!
