Title: Parki cried before being sick
Post by: alisonandarchie on June 09, 2015, 22:00:21 PM
Parki is 15 and in fairly good health.

This afternoon she really scared me when she really started yowling before being sick. She is quite vocal but has not done this before.

The sick seemed normal and she has been ok since.

Could it have been a troublesome furball or something else.

Has anyone else experienced this

I had a cat years ago, Dante. Dante yowled each and every time he threw up.

Dante was a clever one. He washed his feet in the water bowl after using the litter tray, patted plastic bags or your pillow with increasing force to get attention. If all else failed, he would get up and pull your hair until you had to attend to him!!!

Oscar used to yowl before being sick, was quite handy really you could sometimes get a piece of paper in front of him in time!

Drum howled for the first time before being sick at the weekend - it's not like her and it really alarmed me. Seems it's quite common then!

Can understand how you felt

Such a relief to know it is not that uncommon

Feel much better after reading that so many cats do the same. Havoc is a wonderful name ;D

Absolutely this! Geoffrey has a very specific 'omigod I'm about to puke' noise which he doesn't use at any other time, so if you're quick and there's something to hand, you can save the carpet!

Hope Parki is ok!

Havoc lived up to his name, was the clumsiest cat, used to chase birds on garage roof and fall off, had a heart attack at 7, lived till he was 18 and always creating Havoc wherever he went!  :innocent:

He certainly was! When I got him he was called "Lady" only found out next day when he was having a wash he was a "Lady boy" :evillaugh:
Havoc stopped the traffic in our road one day when him and the cat called Rosie from next door were fighting, rolling over and over in the road in a big 8 legged hissing screeching furball! :evillaugh: I lost him 16 years ago, still miss the little wotsit!! :naughty:

My Siamese Solly always yowls loudly before being sick each morning after eating grass. One of my oldies, Frodo, 15, yowls a lot now he's old. He's rarely sick, but seems to just yowl because he gets a bit lost and needs comforting.

Solly as well :) Parki is very vocal but seems to be getting more so and I wondered if it might be because she is 15. She wants to be right by me every waking hour :Luv:

Lilli likes a good howl whenever she forgets where she's left me. Marmalade is chatty and meeps rather than howl, but they're both like sticking plasters. They're almost 16 so it could be a comfort thing?

Alison, has she been tested for hyper-t as howling in older cats can be indicative -Paddy did it after his stroke as he lost his hearing so it's not necessarily just a hyper-t thing - just a consideration.

I was about to mention hearing loss too as our Dingle became pretty vocal in her later years due to hearing loss and howled like a banshee from about 18 when she became pretty deaf.

Thanks Sue and Rosella that is a very good point. Will take her for a good check and mention all this

Lilli you have chatty catties too  ;D I think it is a comfort thing with Parki :)
