To assist the naming committee for the kittens how about the theme from Little Women :

Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy and the boy Laurie or Theo?

Mum could be Marmee.

And Mum to be Miss Norton

 ;)

Heres a few pics, the first is the pregnant little lady who was upstairs in the house she is doing really well ,shes using her tray now too.
The others are mum with five kittens from 2 litters who were in the cupboard, they are slowly coming out of their shells and 3 of the kittens are playing now. All have third eyelid showing and slight tummy upsets, they will be seeing vet next week when they are more settled. 5 litter trays had poop in this morning, just one heap on the floor, think we are getting there. No names yet they are all girls bar one.

Poor cats and kittens and thank goodness for you

I am sure we would love some pictures when you have time but their care comes first.

Teresa, you've done all you can and will continue to do so. You're only one person - and an amazing one at that from everything I keep reading on here. :)

Hope the little ones in your care get loving homes soon and the two there start to live a life that's a massive improvement on their previous time with their owners.

I have been there this afternoon and helped clean a utility room out for the 2 I have taken back (vet neutered them yesterday); I have left her with dry and tinned food and told her I will call regularly to check on them. Her cupboard is now full of junk from utility room.
Hopefully things will work out

Wow, I wonder how they had the absolute cheek to expect that you might give them a kitten back, Teresa!

Hope life is  better for all the kitties from now on  :shy:

This is heartbreaking. Maybe a call to the RSPCA when they are back would be in order. Surely with the new animal welfare bill, people can't keep cats in a cupboard?

Poor babies  :'(

The 2 cats at vets have to go back there, she is adamant that she wont part with the female, she doesnt want the tom but I have said he must go back for the time being, I just dont have the room and am already juggling space for a mum and feral kittens who will be here hopefully tomorrow. I am going to give her food and check up regularly, thats the best I can do at present, not good enough but a start. I am praying that the cupboard will be rendered useless.I feel so inadequate.

Owners?  Did they really have owners?

Yep, they definately had "owners" just not "carers."

Poor things, what makes someone think keeping cats in a cupboard under the stairs is looking after them properly? Glad they're with you, Teresa.

Poor things.  :scared:  Thank goodness they are at Paws Inn.

Will you be able to take the two currently at the vet as well?  I imagine space is getting rather tight...

got a request from the people to give them a kitten back yesterday,

Sadly they will get one from somewhere, although I am sure you will keep an eye on the situation and ensure all cats in the home will be neutered/spayed.

Owners?  Did they really have owners?

Well done you on rescuing this family from that awful situation - if I was a little closer I would have a couple off you.

Cats from the Cupboard
« Reply #1 on: July 12, 2007, 10:51:49 AM »
Called out to a house on Tuesday was taken through to the kitchen where the stench was unbelievable; the man opened an understair cupboard,it looked like the black hole of Calcutta; one by one out came tiny bodies almost blinded by the daylight, there were 5 kittens from 2 litters (the others I am told had died), 2 adult females 1 is possibly early pregnant and an entire Tom. The man then went upstairs and carried down an obviously pregnant little one.
The little pregnant one is in an isolation pen on her own and making good progress already, eating ,using tray and this morning we got our first purr.
The possible early pregnant and 5 kittens some of which are her own are together in the big chalet with outdoor run, they are all choosing to sleep in the outdoor run and go inside only for food and toilet;we have 6 litter trays in there but the amount of poos hidden in corners was unbelievable yesterday. This morning some trays had been used but so had the bed and the floor and the scratching post poo everywhere, I guess we`ll get there eventually.
The tom cat and other female are at the vets being neutered.
I got a request from the people to give them a kitten back yesterday, strange thing when I replied to her I had it in my mind that they had all been rehomed, cant imagine why.
Will post some pics when they are all less timid and settled.
