.....and a big hug to you Lesley for all the hard work you're putting into looking after them.

Awww....these two hit a bit of a nerve. Parsley was found in a bag by my partners sister when she was ridiculously small too. She had a huge gapping mess on one of her eyes and the vets said she wouldn't make it - my partners sister thought otherwise and nursed her to health.

Fuss to little Tiggy and Persia.

:welcome: to Purrs Tiggy & Persia  ;D  Her memory lives on  :)  She was a girl though Lesley but I'm sure she'd forgive you  ;)

My fault - I had a Boxer called Tigger, Tiggy for short, so I always think of boys,  SORRY.

So presumably it's exclusive to kittens then? I'm all about the oldies at the moment but when I remortgage I'm hoping to get a conservatory and do a spot of kitten/feral fostering. I need to learn as much as I can before that though, I'd hate it if something happened I couldn't deal with.

I suspect if you had an older cat that had an eye infection, if left untreated, as on a stray, the same sort of thing could happen.

Right, they have names.  Looking at my list of sponsored names, the first male name on the list is .........................................................TIGGY, from Helen and the first female sounding name, after Kali, which has already been used is .............................................Persia, from Papillon - I hope you don't mind your Bridge baby's name being used on a moggie?

So, will give further updates on Tiggy and Persia later.

Unfortunately, can't really help with warning signs because the two I have had both arrived with bad eyes.  I think if you have really young kittens, you have to be wary if they do not open them after 7 - 10 days, this could be a sign of infection and if their eyes are then opened with the aid of a Vet the infection can build up under the eyelid.  Not an expect, but I think that can be the case.

Ok so I've encountered many gunky eyes and other  eye things but exploding eyes are (thankfully) a new one on me.

Can someone with a strong stomach please let me know how this occurs and what the warning signs are? Forewarned is forearmed after all.

More vibes heading to these two too!

God bless them they are so lovely and if there is anything they need or anything I can do please let me know.  You are so good to look after them and they will be lavished with love and care.  What goes around comes around I hope so if someone dumped them their punishment will arrive in due course.

That's what I thought about the salt, luckily I hadn't let him do it.

I've got fucithalmic for the eyes and antibiotics as well, which they have been really good with.

Hi hun, no salt in the water, it may sting like hell, any eyes that are ulcerated just cool boiled water  ;)  I would just do what you're doing and keep an eye on things.  Has the vet given you any cream to keep any infection down?  I really hate the eyes, and like you, seem to get ones with eye problems

Eaten well again this morning and took their medication well.  The little boy even gave his first little meow.  Now this may not work, but hopefully here are a couple of piccies of them.

The middle one shows the little boy with the exploded eye.

All other eyes were cleaned quite well this morning but I am very nervous of touching this bad one - I feel I should be cleaning it better than I am but I also do not want to rupture it or anything (always disliked dealing with eyes but always seem to get cats with bad ones ).  Any advice on the best course of action would be appreciated.  We are basically syringing warm water over this eye just to sort of irrigate it and hubby says to put a little salt in the water?

What is wrong with people?  How can anyone be so irresponsible that they just dump animals anywhere.  Suppose when looking at the world in general...no surprise.  Horrible.  And have ssen the exploded eye thing on Animal Planet programmes before.  Horrendous.  Hope they survive just to prove that they can do it!

Well, they finally decided to suckle, only tookd 3/4 ml but that is the best they have done. :cheer: :cheer:.  Eyes still very gungy but more lively this evening so I have a little more hope for them than I did this morning.

Still gonna be long nights for the next few weeks if they survive but it will be worth it.

:thanks: for all your kind thoughts, I am sure they are feeling the purrs vibes. :)

You can't. We have over the years took loads in like this, some we have managed to save the eyes others have sadly needed perhaps one removed.  In fact I still have now a 16 year old cat that came in as a kitten and her eye had exploded.

Fingers crossed for the little ones.

That gives me some hope for them then Ela.  They did feed a little better last time, and I can actually see his other eye opening a little.  The little girl (I think, not so sure on second inspection) is quite vocal when left in the ICU on her own when her brother is being fed so she definitely seems to have some spirit. :Luv:
