They are being cared for at:

As soon as I have any more details I will let you know.

i have a food processor and you'd be lucky to fit one kitten in it ??

also how a 3 year old could work the safety lids is beyond me, i struggle with that aswell.

something abit suss there !!

Evil! - I doubt the child did it but whoever did needs shooting in the head!  >:(

If the child did it, she should have her arse whipped until it bleeds!

Believe it or not I'm not violent but an eye for an eye.

A 3 year old child shouldn't have been left unattended for the time it would've taken to get a food processor out of a cupboard, plug it in, etc etc.
I agree with Lynn, too. I have two two and a half year olds and they would not have a clue how to put on the safety lid, I doubt even my 6 year old could do it.

Ok, now THAT'S awful. And I agree with Lynn. A three year old using a blender? Please. There are some twisted adults involved in this somewhere.

im almost not wanting the details if that makes sense.

i agree karenjet my own 6 1/2 year old would struggle aswell, hels bells i always have to try and slide it into safety lock position a few times before it clicks in properly..processors dont work either unless you have the lid properly on.

Children or not - execute the b******s ! - scum like that don't have a place in society. I really would hang whoever did it regardless.

Poor baby kittens - what a horrendous death.

where was the mother?

Children or not - execute the b******s !

Ummmm.....I'm not saying they should get away with it, but if the information's correct this is a three year old. Plenty of time to be taught out of (extremely) cruel behaviour. This is not a case of a teenager who has developed its own standards and beliefs, but a child that is led by example.
Title: Re: Kittens in a Blender!!!!!
Post by: CurlyCatz on April 25, 2007, 10:56:03 AM
To be fair thats a bit extreme mark. if the child was just newly 3 they do not have a proper perception of right and wrong, this is what they learn in the period.  a child around 4 would have a better perception of it but the main issue is where was the adults and i hope social services are involved in this aswell because if you ask me the child is / was just as much at risk as the animals.

example of a 2 3/4 year old...only yesterday i was boiling a pan of water for rice ..stepped into livingroom to pass a drink to my son and look round to see my daughter putting a metal spoon into said pan, she could only just reach and literallly a second away from boiling water all over her...they gradually develop a knowledge of right from wrong and know whats dangerous as they get older and are pretty astute normally by school age time.

There's an old proverb that goes something like this "Show me the child of five, and I'll show you the man." (I think its Chinese.) Basically, all your learning years are from birth to five, so if you've got to five and still have no recognition of what's cruel, you haven't been taught properly.

I studied Child Development at school and it was very interesting. (Not interesting enough to make me have kids though, apparantly!)

Maybe the children need to be removed from the family while there is still time. As kids, about the worst thing we did to cats was try to put dolls hats on them and push them around in a pram.

Title: Re: Kittens in a Blender!!!!!
Post by: ccmacey on April 25, 2007, 11:44:26 AM
Kids will be kids and at that age they dont know what's wrong or right, well obviously there was no one there to teach them. Very wrong to say the kid should be killed because its their parents fault, but saying it about the mother is a different matter. Kids only get away with what they are allowed to!

I think that no matter what our personal feelings, we all need to hold off making any extreme comments until we know more. MM is at this point the only one who has a clearer picture of the story but cannot tell us more at this time.

Such a disturbing picture this whole thing as it stands paints.

I hate to think what the chav kids of this generation are going to grow into. I am not sure I want to be around to see what happens!!

What a horrible story :(  Poor kittens.

Like everyone else I'm a bit puzzled how a child that age would be able to get a blender/processor out of a cupboard, plug it in and fit on the lid with safety catch at all, let alone without being observed.  And they must have been very small kittens.  Hmm... not pleasant.  I hope the injured kittens will be ok.

You should have asked your mum for a dolly  :evillaugh:

I know though it wouldnt have crossed my mind to deliberately be cruel to an animal.

My kids are the same but my nephew was forever lifting his feet and repeatedly kicking mils dogs (and my son) or striking with the nearest object to hand.  He never really got smacked bottom (cept from when he accidentally wet himself under the age of 18 mnths !!!) I do think he is better now, he will start school after summer.  But i have to say he was one of the most nasty little sods i have met at such a young age. but again i blame the parenting..he was shoved into nursery at 2 months old,..they had to leave early in morning so nursery even gave him BREAKFAST  and sometimes supper aswell !!  and in my mind he got disiplined for wrong reasons..one day my dd was 8 weeks old, he threw repeatedly wooden blocks, 2 of which struck her on the head..his mum did nothing more that merely exclaim his name but the minute he stepped foot on the hearth of fire which was never ever used he got smacked fingers coz he might have scratched the hearth tiles

I do remember hearing stories from my great uncle who is now around 60 saying as lads many "boys" used to stick straws up frogs bums and inflate them, i think there was some truth in it but how much i dont know.

I dont think all processors have a safety catch by the way - our smoothie maker doesnt have one and that is large with sharp blades. Im sure my mums processor doesnt have one.

Obviously not knowing the facts I still think this is very strange!! My feelings on the matter is that there have been older children involved in this and the 3 year old has been blamed. How could a child of that age get a processor out of a cupboard, plug it in, get however many kittens (poor, poor wee things) into the blender, put on a lid and switch it on! Simply not possible IMO!! I would lay money on there being kids of at least 10 yrs old involved in this! Evil little sods! >:(
Title: Re: Kittens in a Blender!!!!!
Post by: forever_missing_my_boys(Lisa) on April 25, 2007, 18:11:54 PM
imo even a young child would know it was wrong
they would know only food went in the blender
i think only an evil or mentally sick person (FOR THOSE OF U READY TO JUMP DOWN MY THROAT AS PER USUAL I MEAN AN ADULT OR TEEN  )would do this kinda thing  >:( >:( >:(
Title: Re: Kittens in a Blender!!!!!
Post by: Tracey on April 25, 2007, 19:02:50 PM
What a sad story.

I worked as a nursery nurse for several years with that age group. That child, if it was that child, wouldnt have known what it was doing. It may have been carrying around the kittens and played prtend making tea or something....unless that child had seen it done before and was not shown it was wrong....the child wouldnt have known what it was doing was going to harm the kittens...till after and the kid saw the dead kittens.

The person to blame here is the person who was supervising the child or shouldve been...and the person who left the processor out. I wouldnt be surprised if older children were involved here.

Poor babies, i do hope the survivors recover qiuckly, and can go to a happy loving home.

You honestly think this word can be used to describe a child of three?

Did you know that humans are only born with a certain amount of basic emotions and develop a heck of a lot more as they get older.

I knew I shouldn't have read this thread, it's highly disturbing.

thankyou tracey for that educated professional opinion. You hit the nail on the head with everything you said.

Forever a child who is little more than a toddler is not capable of being truly evil that comes as they get older if ever & is usually the result of an EVIL adults wrong doing in some shape or form.
Title: Re: Kittens in a Blender!!!!!
Post by: forever_missing_my_boys(Lisa) on April 25, 2007, 21:23:51 PM
i dont think a child of 3 would do that in the first place ,
if the child was to be playing with a blender then it would copy wat it sees mummy doing with the blender and put food in it and mess about with it ,
unless the child was like problem child
it would not put kittens in a blender COME ON !!!! Children arent thick they r clever and pick up things and learn things easily ,

i dread to think where the lazy  :censored: of a mother was at the time
the kid musta been unsupervised for ages to do that !

I must admit I am shocked to read some of the replies written by ADULTS concerning the actions of a 3yr old child!  Perhaps the parent of the child is to blame here, not a baby!

There is a collection going for these 3 surviving kittens on the hovel.

I dont think millys mum is in a position to say too much due to legal implications. (please update/correct me if im wrong and / or delete that line if i shouldnt have even said that)

The update i have had is that 6 kittens had been involved and 3 are dead.  The 3 survivors apparently have multiple wounds with lots of stitches and are in body stockings.

As pointed out on the hovel even a 50p dontation would be gratefully recieved.  For those who arent members of the hovel im not too sure how payment etc will work but i will try and find out if something could be done.

Fingers crossed these 3 babies survive and get over the trauma.

not wanting to sound rude or stupid, but any money donated would go.... straight to the vets?
i hope so, the thought of the (previous) 'owners' even touching a penny disgusts me....... as i'm sure it does others and wont be happening.
hope that came across right.....  :)

How old were/ are the kittens and where is mum?

I think yes the parent is to blame but a child of 3 doing something like that, I would seriously be worried about what they are going to be capable of in the future.  Even at 3 years old, a child would know that a kitten would be at the least hurt doing what they did..........and yes, I would whoop their arses and give the parents a good pasting whilst I was at it  :censored:  :censored:

i cant say more than i typed as i dont know.  I am supposing the donations would go to the rescue that is in charge of them and obviously they are the ones who are going to be paying thier vets bills and continued care.  CC no i am under the impression that side of things cant be talked about so's we best not ask just now but concetrate on the babies.

I'm not involved just being a messenger  ;D

Have been in touch with someone here to see how we can work out the donation thing for those who arent hovel members.

Just tried to post whilst dawn did so yes dawn i considered this and thats why ive taken steps to see what can be organised from purrs side to contribute.

Obviously an irresponsible owner to blame and the child has never been tought not to hurt the cats!

I have a 2 year old and he knows not to hit, kick or do anything to hurt them all because of me telling him no if he has tried to. My son and the 4 cats get on really well playing, sleeping and stressing me out together.

Where the babies are being looked after.

If any wants to make a donation I have "saffrons" contact details alternatively I suppose you could send the cheque directly to the rescue - details deleted by Mod, please await further info

Wouldn't the money be better going direct to the vet and then it will go specifically on the kittens care?  Any money they have left over can then go towards any other vet bill's they will have.

Modified to add Sam would you be able to get the vets address, I'd prefer to send a payment direct to them unless Tan is going to organise something similar on here.

Unfortunately this isn't possible as the vet needs to remain in the background as it were as the rescue is preparing a case against the previous owner.  Therefore if you would like to donate to the care fund it's best to send your donation to Saffron.

Hi all,

I've not been around much of late and have just read this. I've got to say that I'm with Mark on this, it's completely sickening to think that a child could do this and very disturbing to think that someone could be so irresponsible as to leave a child as young as this alone in the first place. Reading the posting made me feel physically sick, poor little mights, either way, IMO, one has to place a degree if responsibility on the parents.

Regards

Leigh

Me too mark

i was just saying to someone yesterday that i have been thinking of the vns or others that are their primary caregivers at the moment.  Its bad enough doing "things" on babies when you know you are hurting them (for their own good of course) but these mites must have so many wounds all over them that need to be tended it would just break my heart to hear their squeeks as i did it.  Of course it needs done but they dont know this.

I have a small report for you, and im probably getting some pictures for you too.

The kittens are now 6 weeks old and were 4 weeks when it happened. The "good" news is that there were only 3 in the first place so the 3 we thought had lost their lives fortunately havent.

Mummy cat is safe too.

Everyone at CCR is touched by your generousity   :thanks:

I am relieved that none died and I'm also relieved that the kittens have survived two weeks so far - I hope they are getting better by the day  Keep up the good work, CCR!

Here are the little lovelys, iv put nice pics so no one gets greeted by something that may upset them. The other pics are not that graphic so you can PM me if you wish to see.
Physically they are OK, behaviourally they are nervy & sensitive to noise  :(
Luna is white
Tumberlina is Tabby
Miracle is the Torti, she was lucky and escaped injury

Edit, bad spelling!

Aww they are so very cute!

Glad they're doing well even with the sensitivity - they will hopefully cope with that in time.

Three beautiful, helpless sentient beings - I can only begin to imagine how terrified they must have been and the pain they must have felt.

I cannot imagine what was going through the minds (I use this word loosely) of those that tortured them.

My great respect for all the people who are now looking after these little ones and their mum.

Those three are heartbreakingly cute! :) I'm so glad they're on the mend, I think at the end of the day that's the part that needs concentrating on. Is it my imagination or has the tabby got a little ginger blob on its head? (Parsley had one too; I've never seen a cat before or since with the same distinctive little patch.)

Whereabouts are these little sweeties? And do they have homes lined up already?

Also, does it matter how small the donation is? I don't have a lot, but I'd like to send something next Friday when I get a bit of money.

JS have sent you a pm.

Of course it doesn't matter how much you donate ... it's a "donation" therefore whatever you can afford is always gratefully received.

Thanks Sam. It's times like this when I wish I had more money, so I could donate more!

Ah well, guess every little helps.

I was so relieved to see that no kittens died. My heart melts when I see the pics of those tiny gorgeous things in body stockings. I'm more concerned about them getting better and going to loving homes than anything else but I hope the culprits are dealt with severely. I wish all the kittens long, healthy :ahh: and pampered lives.

My husband adores little Tumberlina, which she is adorable.

Just odd because every other kitten picture I've shown him he says they all look like mutants ;)

But not Tumberlina.

i really am shocked and mortified about what happened to those poor litl kitties :'( and i just cant get my head round it bein a 3yr old tht did it. my litl girl is 17months old now and the most she does to jinx is pick him up for a cuddle! it just makes me wonder why the child was alone in the kitchen in the 1st place and how comes the parent/s hadnt put safety catches on the cupboards to keep her out. i just dnt think tht we know the whole truth on the matter as to who else was involved.

Eh, I'd completely missed this... very sad and disturbing. I'm so pleased the little ones and mum are doing well, though. Lots of credit to Tan et all for organising collection, and foster mum - can't be easy to look after little ones in pain.  :'(

And I can't believe how gorgeous they are! I might need to have Luna.  :Luv:

How do I go about donating some money..? seeing as I missed it before... :-[
