Title: Framed Pastel Portrait of your Cat
Post by: Gillian Harvey on November 27, 2006, 19:06:50 PM
Just like it says in the title - a framed pastel portrait of your cat! - Now, please bear in mind that I am only just learning to use pastels, I'm not a professional artisit by any stretch of the imagination! (although I hope to get good enough one day),  so I will do my best to portray your puss cat accurately.

This isnt something I can rustle up by Xmas though - so would need a longer time frame if thats ok. I would need a really, really good pic of your cat - clear and sharp, showing lots of detail, close up is best as the eyes are so important to get right - so a nice head and shoulders, or just head pic would be good. Please no unusual poses where I have to work out where all the legs are etc LOL! I can't do complicated at the moment - still learning!

Just to give you an idea of what I can do - the first one is of my 19 yr old Elsa and the second one is a friends cat Misty.

Starting bid of, say, £7

I think both Tiggy & Lenny would look fantastic in pastels, all my lot are monochromatic moggies!
Miss Sharples will have to make do with the sponge balls I think, might treat myself to some enlarged photos of her though to hang in my newly decorated hall :Luv:...

Wow - I'm seeing some lovely head shots here!! Hope I can do the winning bid justice!

Gill, I use soft pastels and pastel pencils for some of the finer work, like round the eyes etc - I find pastels a bit cumbersome to use, but I'm getting used to them, how about you? The course I went on was fab, I just loved it, couldnt wait to get there each week! - sad now its finished :( - but gonna do another course in the new year, yaay  ;D

I am doing an Art class this year which is all drawing for the year, and we just started with pastels last week, only two hours a week and tomorrows been cancelled sob sob.  Its an accredited class that will get you on an access course at college, but I wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too old for that. I am loving it. Do watercolour on a wed too.

Tutor is a professional artist and really great teacher. I guess we will have to talk off this thread
