Was looking on my local freecycle (before I get told not to look on there, it was for household items we could do with, NOT to check things) and read this:
"I'm offering our dog Slash (after the guitarist) to a good home. I no
longer have the time to look after him like he deserves due to work
and family commitments. You can have his collar, lead, two plastic
beds, 3 bowls, toys and his foood along with him. He was born on the
3rd of March this year and is big for his age. His colouring is black
and tan. He is good with kids but so far in his life he does not like
other dogs. He is wormed and flead to date and is house trained. We
would like him gone asap. I could deliver him tonight or tommorow
depending on time.Any questions please ask."
Can anyone offer Slash a home? Or suggest a good rescue? I'm concerned by the "I could deliver him tonight" part - reeks of just wanting poor Slash gone.
-
omg deliver him tonight?????? poor slash, I hope he ends up somewhere good but I doubt it
don't worry JS - even I can't help noticing ads like these in the local paper, they just call out to you
-
I feel really guilty putting them on here, but can't think what else to do. I've sent lists of rehoming sites and local rescues to them and asked them to get in touch if I can help. I'd take him temporarily but my older cats HATE dogs and I have no idea how the little 'un is with them.
-
Oh JS this has broken my heart, poor Slash :'(
Where abouts are we talking about? If its local to Liverpool i can ask around? We can't fit another big dog in with Gibson, just haven't got the room. :(
-
:'( :'( so sad poor lad.
-
So so wish we could have him but I still feel the hours I am out at the office is still too many for us to have a dog.
-
Were abouts is the poor doggy? Try getting this doggy and then find a rescue place for him/her there are plenty of rescues I am sure one would take him on. theres many tears in wales wwwmanytearsrescue that takes in alot of dogs so try them as well.
-
Try John at bgs rescue he will probably be able to help
-
Definitely a good one to suggest:-
www.biggsd.com should get you straight to it!
God luck and thanks for trying. :thanks:

I couldn't do that Kelly. Even temporarily sadly. Four cats that don't like dogs, one of which has dementia just wouldn't work out, even short term.
Haven't heard back from the owners, but thanks for the links.

Gah!
Have crossposted about Slash, but on TODAYS page was this (If I had more money I think I'd ban myself from Freecycle):
"I took on this dog but am unable to offer him as much as id like,
He doesn't get along with cats or other animals so please take this
into consideration, and isn't very child friendly probably due to his
size as my baby girl found out.
having said that he is a lovely little boy,is well behaved and doesn't
stray far from you when off the lead.
You can have his collar, lead, two plastic
beds, 3 bowls, toys and his foood along with him.

We would like him gone asap. You would have to collect as i dont drive.
Please someone give this beautiful dog a good home."
Pretty sure it's him. Two homes in as many days..... :(

Visiting family in Gloucester this weekend - will check to see if my dad will take him - they have land and he is out all the time in his barn so could be perfect - will try my best.
My husband was gutted last night when I told him - think he wants him.
-
omg it does sound like him?????? there's no escaping it JS, I've just been to tesco's and the notice board had baby birmans on it with photos you couldn't miss it
-
Am useless I'm afraid :-[
Nobody can take him at my end and if he is bad with other animals and kids it is a definite no :(
Such a shame :'(
-
Oh ive always wanted a german shepherd but I just cant have a dog when I work all the time! :'(
-
MrsR, sounds like your Dads Slashs best option. :) Like I say a couple of people on the recommended GSD site are doing what they can.
Know what you mean, Kirst. I lovethe breed, but don't have the finances and the cats would go mad!
-
Gah! He's been rehomed via there AGAIN. I'm really hoping it as someone off the GSD site.

I take these down, all the supermarkets agreed with animal aid not to advertise animals anymore, the service girls dont get told this tho so a nifty tug sorts the problem ;D

Jack think I might have found someone - will PM you now
