So the cat basket has been brought into the lounge to let Gwynnie get used to its presence - she ran and hid when I first brought it into the room :( - I think somehow she thinks she's safe in her 'flower' box - and Joe has taken up residence in the basket LOL!

Read the title, looked and collapsed laughing ;D
-
Awwww bless that gorgeous Gwynnie :Luv2:
Can I borrow Joe to show Rascal how it's done please :naughty:
Gillian your cats are amazing :evillaugh:
-
Aw bless her gorgeousness....cant you cut the flower box down a bit so it will fit in the basket?
ps....would love to see the face on the peeps at the vets though! :naughty:
-
How sweet is she?
-
AWwwwwwwwww :Luv:
-

-
awww bless Gillian, nice try! but looks like she's gonna be stubborn! lol ;)
they are both :Luv2:
-
Isn't she just a picture :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:. When her op Gillian?
-
Isn't she just a picture :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:. When her op Gillian?
I've booked it in for next Wednesday :scared: - its a routine op, its a routine op, its a ro.......! - nothing to worry about, keep saying it and I'll believe it LOL!

Now theres a thought
-
will she need a mid line Gillian because of her colour?
-
will she need a mid line Gillian because of her colour?
Thats reminded me - must remember to ask for the midline!
-
Gwynnie has really taken to that flower box doesn't she :)
Heck just leave Joe in the cage when she makes the trip, she would feel more secure with a big buddy with her ;)
-
Are you gonna ask for glue so she doesnt need to be stressed by a collar?
-
Are you gonna ask for glue so she doesnt need to be stressed by a collar?
Eh, collar? - do they have to have a collar after spay op? - don't remember with the others - so long ago LOL! ;D
-
Yes, one of those big lampshades, so if she had glue not only would she not need one but also wouldnt have to go back to have them out .
I dont know if they ask to see them again just to cjeck they ok.
-
Rascal didn't as she was a good girl and didn't bite her stitches. The vet gave me one home with her just incase though ;)
-
Not sure they would glue a midline, theres more that needs holding together, worth asking about it tho as it saves having a collar.
If you are just choosing for hair change (i thought the next moult put it back to normal :-: ) then id opt for a flank incision, as its quicker to heal and less intrusive
-
Foofoo had the normal flank incision and her colour and coat grew back fine ;)
-

Yes, my Lucy had the flank incision too, but she's a cream point - the fur on the paler colourpoints (reds, creams, lilacs, lilac creams) doesnt tend to grow back that much darker when shaved - but Gwynnie's a seal tabby point and the fur will grow back as a dark brown patch, sometimes with the next moult the fur will return to normal colour - but sometimes it doesnt. Not that it matters really as she's not a show cat, soooo......can't decide now! ;D
-
Ah right, understand what you mean now. :shify:
I would discuss with your vet and see what they advise.
xx
-
They should be able to glue midline too, after all regardless of where the incision is the glue only ever holds the skin together, they always also have a layer muscle sutures and then subcutaneous sutures , the glue never holds any internals in place ;D ;)
ps unless you intend showing gillian i'd go for flank tbh.
-
Gillian I do hope you have better luck than me - I have to take Bonnie every month now for an injection so that the rash doesn't come back and I left her cat carrier in the room for over a week and I still had to go running around the house for her yesterday. Mind you I was an awful mum really cos when it was time to go she was sat on the sheepskin rug in front of the radiator in my bedroom - now if the choice was yours...... Vet or rug in front of radiator!! I felt that guilty I spent £10 on a new furry rug for her and some more toys. :Luv2:
Good luck.

Thanks Lynn :thanks: No, she's not a show cat - even if she was 'showable' - she would absolutely HATE it, that I do know LOL! I always thought I'd like a show cat, but they have really got to have the right temperament for it, some of them absolutely lap up all the attention at shows, (like Witty's Pearl for instance) but I've seen others who are scared half to death and I think its wrong to continue showing cats like that, no matter how beautiful they are.

LOL! I'm not so worried about actually getting her in the basket - its that look of terror on her face that I won't be able to stand! :scared:

Gillian you might already do this .... I find it easier once I've caught her!!! to put her in backwards - she goes in a lot more willingly. :Luv2:
Mary
-
Latest! - having the cat basket just sitting in the lounge for the past week has paid off, she jumped into it of her own accord today! :yayyy:

-
What a clever wee girl Gwynnie is ;D
I notice the flower box is still close to the carrier, you might have to take that to the vet too :evillaugh:
-
Wish mine were that
daft innocent ;D
-
I always have the cat carrier in the living room, but it doesn't make it any easier to get them into it when it's time for the V.E.T.
-

Mary
I see Gillian has a "top loader" - they are so much easier to get a cat into ;D . Another advantage of wire carriers.
When I used the other kind, I always turned it on it's side so the opening was at the top and put them in tail first.
-
That's a brill idea Mark. Problem for me is that Bonnie doesn't like being picked up and I'm not forceful enough (too soft!) to grab her and pop her in - she always leaps out of my hands. I have toput it on the settee and then when she jumps up I have to push her in backwards!! Think I'm gonna invest in a top loader though as I now have to take her to vet every month for an injection to stop the rash coming back and I could put that on it's side and push her in and she has a better view of everything and might not meow as much in the car when I take her to the vet.
Thanks. Love it when we can all give each other ideas.
Mary
-
I think top loaders only good if you can pick the cat up.
I have to trap Sasa and try and get her to run throught the door............its a big cage so all one side opens. The prob then is to shut it before she runs out again..........sigh
-
You can get side opening wire baskets too ;)
-
If cats don't like being picked up, you could put the basket over them - except there would need to be some card or something for when you tip it back over :evillaugh:
I know this seems cruel but grab them when they are sleeping and they don't have time to react :evillaugh:
-
is the op tomorrow or thursday gillian?
-
Theres a basket called nurses best friend that does the same job mark. You slide the base out and drop over agitated cat, then slide base back in, the vet gets a nicely wound up beast :evillaugh:
-
We have one of those, it has been very helpful so far. For some cats, I prefer front openers, I can 'herd' them in then, but others I have only been able to use the top opener for.
-

Tomorrow. I'm looking across at her now - sleeping and blissfully unaware! ;D
-
Good luck tomorrow at the vets and cuddles to Gwynnie
-
Good luck tomorrow at the vets and cuddles to Gwynnie
Thank you :thanks: - I shall feel really mean when I go to bed as none of them will be able to have their bedtime snackette seing as she can't have anything more to eat! not fair to feed them and leave her out - same in the morning, there will be a look of disbelief on all their faces as I disappear out the door without feeding them LOL! :evillaugh:
-
Awww bless   It's hard when you feel the eyes staring at you :evillaugh:
Good luck for tomorrow and please give the gorgeous Gwynnie lots of cuddles from me x
-
Hi Gillian just dropped in to see if Gwynnie has had her Op yet?
-
Hi Gillian just dropped in to see if Gwynnie has had her Op yet?
Aha, was just going to post! Thanks for asking :thanks: - yes she's had her op and is fine apparently. I can pick her up at 4.30, sooner than I was expecting, so I cancelled an appointment I had - she's much more important LOL! ;D
-
Wondereful and you are right she is the most important thing
-
Aww, I am glad she is fine - what kind of spay did she have in the end?

I assume you have time to buy prawns? :evillaugh:
-
Finally it's all over you must be so relieved Gillian!! Hope Gwynnie's not so full of grudge and forgive you quickly ;) We are all relieved, too!!
-
Thanks all :thanks:

Do you know what - I completely forgot to ask about that! so anxious about it, it completely went out of my head - and they didnt mention it either, so we shall see later......

Just off out to buy some Mark LOL! ;)

Relieved, yes, and some! - whether she will ever forgive me or not is another matter LOL!
Hope this will now put paid to the 'gentleman caller' who's been singing softly outside the window the past couple of nights LOL! :evillaugh:
-

You flakey fruit loop
-
So pleased that all went well and the gorgeous Gwynnie will be home soon ;D
Sending her lots of gentle cuddles and hope she enjoys her prawns
-
Here she is, just home - hopped out the cat basket and immediately went round greeting all the others with her little tail up in the air - so pleased to be home and telling everyone what a brave girl she's been! Seems very perky, not too wobbly. I'm really proud of her, she was a little bit scared this morning on the journey and waiting to be booked in (hid under her vetbed!), but not panicky at all, clever girl! :Luv2:
Oh, and she's had the op on the flank - oh well, never mind.....
-
Awww bless her what a very brave and clever girl she is :Luv2: :Luv2:
Great pic (as always) Gillian, she looks as though she's never been away ;D
-
I can't believe her! - she's dashing around like she's never had a major op - jumping on poor old Joe, chasing Honey, up onto the dining room table, down again, out the patio doors (doors open - pretty mild here today!) runs round the side of the house, only to come back in through the cat flap in the back door, then back out the patio doors again! Up the stairs, leaps on the bed, back down the stairs, out the patio doors.....................! :wow:
She's also following me around and flinging herself on her back in front of my feet, she's gonna trip me up soon I know it LOL!
-
LOL sounds as if she's glad to be home bless her
Poor Joe and Honey  :evillaugh: That's Gwynnie's revenge for you
Did she enjoy her prawns?
-
Lol, glad to hear she's back to her normal cheeky self :)
-
Glad Gwynnie's gotten through her op OK, Gillian! ;D Please give her a cuddle on my behalf. :blow kiss:
Back to a comment earlier in the thread, if you're not comfortable about showing her, then there's nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't show the Tobster as he'd leave a trail of shredded judges and stewards in his wake... :Nooooo:
Pearl is quite happy at being shown (as many of her Aunties know) but she WILL growl at cats she takes a dislike to - at her last show, she gave the ginger boy penned next to her a right old what to... :notlisten: She's not quite the angel she looks... :evillaugh:
-
So pleased to hear that all went well. Bet she's being especially spoilt tonight
-
so pleased that gwynnie is fine and she seems to be so happy to be home ;D
-
:thanks: again everyone!
She didnt get the prawns after all - I walked all round Sainsburys because I had some other things to get as well, but was so focused on singing to myself 'Shes coming home, she's coming home, Gwynnie's coming home' that I forgot the blinkin prawns LOL! Anyway, she had a large plate of turkey mince instead!
She's calmed down a bit now - think she was a high as a kite earlier :evillaugh:
-
Gillian, you forgot her prawns? Really forgot prawns for the princess Gwynnie?? Oh my dear, that's unbelievable, shame on you!! You are lucky to get away with the plan B!! :)
Great that she bounced back so swiftly and all is well!!
-
Glad she is fine - it is amazing how well they bounce back after ops.
-
So glad her op is over and she is doing fine! ;D

Glad she's feeling better ;D

How is the gorgeous Gywnnie today Gillian? :)
-

tut tut :no no: :evillaugh:
Hangs head in shame :sneakin: - anyway she doesnt know she missed out on prawns! :evillaugh:
Glad she is fine - it is amazing how well they bounce back after ops.
It surprised me Des - the last time one of mine was spayed was 10 yrs or so ago - and I remember her being really groggy after the op, still really sleepy, and not wanting to move around much - think the anaesthics are different these days?
How is the gorgeous Gywnnie today Gillian? :)
Not quite bouncing of the walls today LOL! but she's fine, been licking her stitches :sigh:
-
Awwww bless her :Luv2:
After the boys had the snipn'chip Guinness bounced off the walls and ran riot (usual for him :evillaugh: ) Widget took over 3 days to get anywhere near back to normal :scared: Strange how the anaesthic affects some and not others.
Gwynnie - MUM FORGOT YOUR PRAWNS!!!!!!! :naughty: however Auntie Ellie has some :sneaky:
-
Glad everything went OK for Princess Gwynnie :)
-
When my first foster was spayed, she managed to get the collar off and climb the wardrobe the evening she came back - I had tried to stop her jumping!! And when KAz was spayed, she was more hyper after than she was before!
-
Really glad to hear Gwynnie's home safe and sound again. How on earth could you forget her prawns, Gillian? What kind of a mum are you! Ollie says he is going to get the cat grape vine to tell her what she missed
-
Awww bless her, :Luv:
Glad all is okay
-
She sounds great, its amazing how robust they are ;D
The GAs these days are v.good, she would only have been under a few minutes too :wow:
When i had george neutered it took him a good 24hrs to recover (and i mean be able to stand up!!) i changed vets and later found out the place i started off with still use iron age GAs >:(
Often pets dont make it through routine ops with them, so i could have easily lost George 2 years earlier than nature intended :(
-
Scary that it isn't regulated :scared:
-
Not as scary as the vet! :scared: :scared:
-
She's a bit quiet tonight - shame, I enjoyed seeing her bouncing of the walls LOL! :evillaugh: And, she didnt eat the duck breast I got specially (to make up for forgetting the prawns!) - she got a plate of turkey mince with some lovely slivers of duck breast, hoovered down the turkey mince and sniffed suspiciously at the duck breast, walked off and left it - I ask you....!
-
Fussy little feline........she eats loads better then me ;D
-
Oh Gillian - shame on you for forgetting the prawns! I'm glad she's home and it all went well.

Well she has to punish you for forgetting those prawns, doesn't she?!
