Hi Des,
The thread on here yesterday was so interesting. Regrettably, it has been a casualty of the move but could all the contributors post their info up again please. I didn't post anything myself but found it very interesting and was gonna make a note of all the details.

I seem to remember a vacuum cleaner was on that list too.
I have a Vax that is perfectly Ok but just too heavy for me to use cause of back ache. So was thinking of contacting Margaret Green or local CP if it's of any use.

DIY skills - moving pens (screws, nails, muscles, van) and simple electrics (if qualified) - to help when fosterers change
driving cats/food/litter around
home visits
publicity - radio, internet, paper, word of mouth
accounts - auditing final accounts
insurance - giving advice on insurance (as opposed to selling it lol)
writing - newsletters, grant applications
internet sites
fundraising - helping at a planned event (anyone with a few hours to spare in coventry weekend 16/17 december please!) or organising one (ie bag pack at supermarket (raises a lot but need a lot of helpers so school/club/large family?)
storage space for all those windfalls of donated goodies

On the washing powder thing - i keep meaning to post - if anyone has a Makro near them they have a box of 30 washing tablets for £1.99 and you only need one per wash - thought it was good value. They do 100 tabs for cheap too. Been on the hunt for things for my christmas hampers! :evillaugh:

As luck would have it, I get notifications of replies, so will sort through my deleted items and see what I can find - some of the others came off my American forum, so will look at that later. Ela suggested radios, that I do remember!! And I am going to start buying one tin of food extra when I go shopping, as it isn't a lot for me to pay out, but will feed a cat in a rescue for at least a day. Another suggestion on my American forum was to put change in a jar, then add it up at the end of the year, plus make up a box for the humans!! I am going to do that next year too.
Thanks for the wish list Mbll, I am going to run that by the rescue tonight and see if we can have that on our website. Others from the American forum were scratchposts, old carpet (Can be cut up to put in pens), old pillowcases, trays. There really is so much that could be easily absorbed into a weekly shop, yet would make such a big difference. And so much that I didn't realise.
