Well got the results - its a benign lump!!!!!!!!!!!!  :wow:

It appears to have grown from the sweat gland but now it's been removed, everything should be fine!

The vet checked her eyes this morning and said they were looking a lot better. She has to go in next week to have a check on her wound and they said they'd look at her eyes again then. She's been so amazing through it all (especially as a highly strung tortie!!!!!!)

She does scratch a bit at the wound, but it pretty much leaving it alone!

So happy my baby is OK  :Luv:

Hope the lump is nothing serious  . One of my cats has the herpes virus and I give him L-Lysine.

hope Katie is ok and that its not herpes and that the lump is nothing sinister.     I once had a cat with herpes.     It caused Beau severe conjuctivitis on several occasions, so much so he could hardly see out of his eyes.   They would be blood red.      The eye specialist said it was the worst case she had ever seen}.        Stress would cause it to flare up.      He hated being in a multi cat house and eventually I rehomed him as an only cat ans he has been fine since.       He used to be given famvir which was very expensive [luckily he was insured].     If I saw his eyes running I used to treat it immediately with fucithderm and this generally would stop it developing.

They said that I should get the results in a few days. She's got a post operative check tomorrow but I suspect it will be next week before we hear anything. Each time my phone goes I dread it being them!

I have Katie vaccinated against cat flu every year - is this something that can happen even if they're up to date with vaccines?

Thanks for the link - it's really useful and thanks for people's best wishes!

Herpes virus is one of the cat flu viruses and can cause ulcers http://vetspecialists.co.uk/factsheets/Ophthalmology_Facts/Feline_Herpes_Virus

How soon will you get the results about the lump?

Lump removed from Katie :-(
Well Katie's had the lump removed from the back of her neck and it's been sent off to see what it is  :'( I'm just keeping my fingers crossed it's ok - it was a quite hard lump the vet says and it went deeper than they thought. Her poor skin has had to be pulled quite far to close it and it looks so sore. She's being SO good though and hasn't scratched it or bothered with it at all  :)

She also had a tooth removed and they found an ulcer in her eye! I knew her teeth needed cleaning and I just asked them to check her eye as she had been blinking it over the past few days. They think it might be the herpes virus, or it might be a scratch... I know nothing about herpes in cats - has anyone got any knowledge of what it is or why it happens?

Any good vibes for her results would be great!!!
