Hi Des, loads of classes at the start as thats where we get the money raised from so we wanted to do loads to raise more money for Minimopsical :)  ;)

i just think there might be too many, and it might have the wrong effect, I know I personally wouldn't bother with half of them cos it is offputting having so many, and trying to remember them when the cats are doing daft things - plus, aren't these pics being posted on the forum for the judging? Isn't that going to affect those of us who already have a slow connection to the site?
Title: Talk about Classes for the show

It shouldn't effect your connection speed on dial up no more than if ya view pics now hun. The pics will all be in the thumb nail format and you will need to click to view them. This way it allows a quicker page loading and ya'll be on broadband soon so ya will be amazed at the speed of broadband.. i couldn't go back to dial up now i would be waitng for hours for pages to load. I soo used to them loading instantly on broardand. You must have lots of patience! :Luv:

Thats ok if ya no want to enter all the classes, it wasn't meant to be for a single slave to enter all of them, but so everyone has a good choice of what they want to enter. We may end up with some classes with no entries. It totally up to you what ya wanna enter hun.  ;) We wanted also to do loads so that every cat can enter so helping to raise more money which is our ultimate goal.  :donate: :donate2:

The classes are designed to give everyone a chance of entering their cat in a class because this will be the easiest place to pick up a win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It will get harder from then on, cos in the next stage the class winners will be grouped, so much less groups and harder to win.

Also because some classes will be hard to win it gives a chance for the cats to maybe get through in another class.

All cat shows have loads of classes. It doesnt matter how many or how few, its all just fun to raise money for Minimopsical.

I would love to get everyone involved and when the rules are put up shortly you will see that this Cat Show has certain pro active things to get peeps involved

I hope you will find at least one category to enter your cats in Desley  ;D

I hope it speeds things up Tan, cos I dont have enough time or patience at the mo for it!!
Gill - I hope I do, but to be honest, a list of 80+ is incredibly offputting to me, and I lose interest, esp as I have a lack of time, and the comp is so slow!!
Title: Talk about Classes for the show
Post by: Susanne (urbantigers) on March 15, 2007, 16:22:47 PM
More classes means more chance to win  ;D  And you dont' have to (or are expected to) enter them all!

btw - what is the difference between classes 10 and 11?  Doesn't 11 incorporate 10?  Mosi would come into the other semi longhair category - but is that class 10 or class 11?  And are there any pedigree longhairs that wouldn't go into class 1?  (assuming all the persian varieties and breeds are classed as persian).
Title: Talk about Classes for the show
Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on March 15, 2007, 16:26:39 PM
I understand about the speed but all you have to do once entries open is fill in entry form and send me the pictures, rules up shortly, and if you look under non-pedigrees, there is a color class available so thats very easy and also an age class under the joint category, both are near the top.

If you have the same picture that fits the criteria for more than one category for the same cat , then you will only need one picture of each cat.

you are not gonna have to post the picture only the fee to tan and piccy to me, every thing else will be done for you.  ;D

If you dont wanna enter you can donate if you wish but hope you can find enough time to enter one category cos its taken a very long time for me to set it all up and loads more of my time has gotta be used yet.

I do hope so - going with TalkTalk Tan.
Gill - I do want to enter the competition, but just the list of categories is off putting with it being so long

Sorry Desley but we have already explained why it is long.  ;D

You don't have to enter every catagory - just pick one that best suits your picture(s). If you look at it this way, it actually makes it easier to enter.
(I've just re-read that, and it may come across as patronising, but that's not my intention - honest.)

I know I dont have to enter every category, my prob is that there are so many it is going to be hard to work out which ones suit my pics, and then I get fed up and lose interest!! Esp coming so soon after having to pick pics and captions for the diary (which I haven't even finished yet!!)

Well done Gill.  So pleased to see there is a category for black cats.  Everybody knows how difficult they are to photograph - always end up looking like a big black blob which tends to disadvantage them when up against multicoloured cats.  This way we can all submit our big black blobs and hope for the best

Just a quick question.  Most of my best cat pics were taken before I had a digital camera (the digital ones are all of the black blob ;D).  They are scanned into my computer but obviously not very high resolution.  Can I still submit them?

Welcome to the confuddled world of cat showing, Des!  :evillaugh: Believe me, this is easier than trying to pick out classes in a championship show, takes me weeks to figure out which ones to enter Pearl in!

Gill are these classes duplicated?

41 - sleeping cat and 70 Sleepy cat?  if they are diff, would Dozy cat then be tha same as sleepy cat?

Ta hun thanks for doing all this  :thankyou:

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeek  :shify:

Yes I think that class 41 is a duplicate, so will take that one out but leave in Sleeping cat and Dozy cat.

If there is another idead for Class 41 that we do not have alread, let me know or it will be an unused class ;D

Thank you for pointing it out but please dont find any others unless you do it now

You still aint answered my question  :sigh: :no no:

what is the difference between classes 10 and 11?  Doesn't 11 incorporate 10?  Mosi would come into the other semi longhair category - but is that class 10 or class 11?

So which class does Mosi enter in the ped section?  He's a semi longhair but he's not a NFC, maine coon, birman or ragdoll  8)

Title: Re: Talk about Classes for the show
Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on March 20, 2007, 17:16:11 PM
Ok these are pedigree classes, is Mosi a pedigree?

If he is and he is a semi longhair and not a MC or NWF etc, then Class 10 will be for him but also Class 11  ;D, cos that ones for all the pedigrees who have long or semi long hair. Gives an extra chance if he doesnt win his basic class

10.   Other Semi-Longhair (excluding NFC, Maine Coon, Birman and Ragdoll
11.   Long Hair and Semi Longhair

Ok just to complicate things a little futher - Miss Fearne (who I want to enter) is mainly Tortie & White - but she has tabby bits (Left leg red tabbie, right leg black tabbie, tabbie tail, little M thing on her forehead)

So thats class 21, 22 & possibly 23 anymore???

PS: You people are going to bankrupt me

Ok i made a boo boo on the colour non ped classes (soory i was  getting carried away with excitement  )

The classes between 13 and 23 are for babes as follows
13.   White - Solid colour
14.   Black -Solid colour
15.   Black and white -Solid colour
16.   Blue/Grey -Solid colour
17.   Blue/Grey and white -Solid colour
18.   Ginger/Red Tabbys
19.   Ginger/Red Tabbys and white
20.   Tortie Calico and Dilute
21.   Tortie - (all other than Calico and Dilute)
22.   Tabby - (all other than white and tabby)
23.   Tabby and white

Basically your babe should fit into one of the colour classes as above which best describes his or her colouring.  If ya have any questions maybe it's best not to ask me    :rofl
Title: Re: Talk about Classes for the show
Post by: Tiggy's Mum on May 04, 2007, 18:28:41 PM
Don't mean to be picky but I don't think you can get solid ginger/red non-pedigrees, same for ginger & white.  Every ginger cat I've ever seen has been of the tabby variety, I just did a search on google images and only ginger tabbies came up there too  :scared:

I've already entered Tiggy in the ginger class - do I need to change it?

Title: Re: Talk about Classes for the show
Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on May 04, 2007, 22:43:38 PM
Just to try and clear! the confusion over the colour classes.  8)

All gingers/ reds are red tabbys but but because there are so many ginger/red cats on Purrs, I deliberately split them from other tabbys.

So yes Helen you are right that Tiggy goes in the ginger class and also that there is no such thing as a ginger/red solid colour  ;D

I will amend tans post below to reflect this.

Sooooooooooooooo all tabbys of any colour cept red/ginger belong in the tabby class ot if also with white , then tabby and white class.

Reds/gingers have a class of there own and all other collours are as Tan posted solid colours and solid colour and white.

One other small point is that any non-pedigree cats that have some spots or mackrel markings will go into tabby classes and as bengals are pedigrees and have there own classes, we dont jave a problem , with mackrels, marbles or spots

I know somebody has mentioned about tabby torties, well they go in the tortie class unless dilute or calico and they go in that class.  ;D

wow, I hope this covers all the cats now but if you dont know which colour class your cat belongs in, please post here and we will try and untangle our brain cells and work iy out for you.  :shify: :shify: :shify:

Hi there. Thought I had best get my act together and am beginning to compile my photos. Sorry if this has been asked before (haven't got time to trawl thru all posts on this thread) but category 81 (Best friends) will by definition have more than one furry feline in photo. Er do I enter same photo twice for each puddie in pic?

No, the price is per photo, so if it has 2 cats in, its still £1  ;D

Great thanks hun.  ;D

Just pop the pic of them both on one of the babes forms. so for instance i sent in one of Gizzy and Rio and put that pic and entry on Rio's form.  As Gilly says it £1 only for that pic.
£1 per photo per class.  :thanks: :thanks:

Does it matter which is the first named cat for the purposes of deciding where to send the pic?

Hi Dave

I sent in 2 different pics of Billy and Freddie togther, one under Freddie's entry and another under Billy's entry as I couldn't decide whose entry to put the best friends photo on and it all goes to a good cause.  Hope that's OK ladies?

"a cat can only enter a class once"

Now I am worried. Did I do wrong Gill by entering best friends photos of the duo for Billy and then a different one for Freddie?  If so, can you delete the one from Freddie's entry please Gill?

Yes thats great Rosella thanks hun and thanks for the payment too.

Ooo getting exciting now  ;D ;D

Dave nope no worries which babe is named 1st. If ya have an entry form per babe and he/she is entered in different classes, you can send all those pics with the form to one mod together.
You send it to the mod that has been allocated the lowest class you have chosen. Ie My Rio was say entered in class 25, 47,52, i sent all them to Ellie who has been allocated the lowest class of 25.

If ya can name all the pic files with the cats name and class number that pic is entering so we don't get any mistakes to the right class.

Thanks so much  :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

Cheers Tan. I'll see what Gilly oracle has to say.

Hope you're picking up tips for the rules for your cat show Dave!

Can't believe I have this difficulty as, if you turned the clocks back only a few months, the idea of me having one, let alone two, photos of these 2 boys together was but a distant dream  :Luv:  Oh dear, could that be construed as canvassing on the wrong thread? :scared:

I'm learning too, and with a similar steep learning curve!
If I can think of anything helpful I will of course pass it on, but so far you're doing great. It's important to keep it fun, and you've done that IMHO. I'd like to win something obviously, but I'm just looking forward to taking part.
You've also managed not only to keep it fair, but to make it obvious that it's fair.

Rosella, yes the two pictures are OK in this class, under the 2 different names, but would not be OK for other classes  ;D

Darby and Joan, I think you got the answer..................older cats

Have often heard the phrase Darby and Joan but had no idea it had such a history. Really interesting

Cheers Dave

Also thanks for that Gill. Glad I don't have to choose which entry gets withdrawn after all.

For the red/red tabby non ped class does that have to have absolutely no white on at all?  I'm not sure whether Jaffa goes into class 18 or 19.  He has a small amount of white on his chin, as a lot of gingers do, but no white anywhere else - does that class him as ginger and white?  or just ginger?

Sorry Gill - didn't send you a pic.  But I've decided the white on his chin is so minimal that it would be daft to call him ginger and white since he has no white at all anywhere else.

I got all Jaffa's and am hard pressed to see any white so he's gone in the Ginger/Red class.

Also S.. moved your Mosi ones for 32 to 38... you typo'd the number.

Ah right - it may have been class 31?  Is there anything else for class 31?  If not the one I put for 32 will be for that (juvenile rather than adult) - I may have got the classes mixed up as Jaffa goes into class 32 (adult) and Mosi into 31 (juvenile)

Nope was 38, 2 entries for that one, see the names of the files you sent me and the class (at least that's what I figured since you named the photos for the class as well).. you sent for 31 too so that one sorted.
