I thought I would just update you on how the lovely Marmie is doing. The good news is that after having every possible test she could have it seems that it was indeed just the feeding of her kittens that was causing Marmie problems. The tests all came back negative so we moved her to a different fosterer and away from her kittens as they were still feeding from her. Since she has moved to her new fosterer she has been eating for England and is doing very well. She is still on the thin side and her coat is a bit patchy but it is now starting to feel lovely and silky and she is putting on weight and starting to play with toys. I had the pleasure of meeting Marmie on Wednesday and she is an absolute darling  :Luv2: She came for lots of cuddles and has a really loud purr which she was very happy to let me hear. The other good news is that all her kittens have now gone to their new homes and hopefully Marmie will be up for rehoming in a couple of weeks and she will have the chance to enjoy life without any more kittens.

Just thought I would give a quick update on Marmie. Her liver function test came back fine which is the good news. The bad news is she is still very thin and listless and doesn't seem to be putting any weight on or be interested in very much so we are at a bit of a loss really. The vet is doing another blood test to check her thyroid but her fosterers say she doesn't have any of the symptoms that would indicate problems with that. It's so frustrating not knowing what the problem is.

Kittens are doing very well though and will soon be ready for rehoming  ;D

Just a quick update on Marmie. FIV and FELV tests are negative  ;D. Marmie had to have a liver stimulation test today but we won't get the results for a few days so still crossing fingers. The kittens are doing really well and all eating well on solids so mum now has a chance to build herself up. Hopefully it has just been the effects of four hungry kittens.

I'll keep you posted.

Marmie's blood test came back fine for kidneys and diabetes. Her liver enzymes were elevated but that could be due to her thinness. The vet wants to do some more tests, FIV and FELV etc, but that can wait until Monday, unless she becomes really unwell in the meantime. The vet also wants a urine sample from her. So good news so far, let's hope the next blood tests don't show any nasties either.

The good news is that all four kittens are eating solid food now so that should take a lot off Marmie and give her a chance to get her strength back.

I'll keep you all posted and keep those positive thoughts coming. ;D

Please keep everything crossed for Marmie - UPDATE - Good news!
« Reply #1 on: June 19, 2008, 00:22:26 AM »
I just wanted to ask peeps to keep everything crossed and send positive thoughts for Marmie (there is a thread on here with her and her kittens) as we are a bit worried about her. She is still very thin but the vet originally thought it was just with feeding her brood. However yesterday she was drinking an awful lot of water, more than normal, so her fosterers have had her back to the vet today. He is a bit concerned about her drinking so much, couldn't find anything wrong when he examined her but he has taken blood tests to check for any problems. We should get the results tomorrow morning. She is a gorgeous cat and I'm so hoping she has nothing major wrong with her. Fingers and paws are firmly crossed here.
