Title: cat with facial paralysis following RTA
Post by: madkittyrescue on January 31, 2013, 22:35:34 PM
Hi guys we have taken in  a gorgeous DLH boy we have since named Cracker who was hit by a car and suffered head trauma.

He has recovered pretty well from his injuries and got off fairly lightly all things considered.  4 weeks post accident and he is showing breathing irregularities so we plan to have him x rayed to check for a diaphram rupture to be on the safe side.

Crackers only other real long term problem is paralysis to the left side of his face meaning he can't close his eye however the eye itself is responsive & third eyelid functions.  At the moment he is on eye gel 3 times a day to keep it moist but we are hoping use of the muscles around the eye will continue.

He is such a sweet boy and we would hate for him to lose out on prospective homes because of such a minor ailment.

The poor baby, he's lucky he's ended up at Sunny Harbour though  I wonder whether it's worth looking into something a little more 'alternative', perhaps acupuncture?
