She has now decided to go fast asleep on one of the chairs in the living room! I've never known her to be so settled anywhere! I can't tell you how happy I am :-)

She had a very good first day out :-) She mooched in and out until I started having dinner & then came in asking for good. By that time it was around 6:30 so I feed her & kept her in for the night.

She's already out again this morning (7am) and seems to be happy. Early days but I'm happy she's happy lol!

Can anybody see what I wrote on my last post? All I can see is the pic lol!

I can see the pic and the words - what a cutie!  :Luv2:

I find with tapatalk that randomly some posts appear blank or you can only see the first line. If you click quote you can then see the whole post (in a quote) - very annoying but overall tapatalk is a good thing as it makes it so much easier to view and reply  ;D

Well……Lucy went out this morning & spent several hours exploring the garden & finding her preferred "loo". It was a great success as this is her, now, after her expedition lol!!

Loads of luck and hope it goes well. make sure she hasnt eaten

Do you have a flap so she can get back in>

Thank you! I'll take her biscuits off her tonight so she's not full when she leaves. I don't have a cat flap but I have a conservatory which is where she's been living so I can leave that door open for her.

Just a quick update. I moved Lucy a week last Saturday and have managed to keep her in. Having been confined to barracks for 10 days she has started to get very frustrated with the situation so I'm going to let her out tomorrow morning. Wish us both luck everyone!

Sorry if this is a repost - I replied yesterday but it isn't showing up for me :-/

Thank you for your replies. I am taking Jack my Cocker Spaniel with me too so he will help her settle I'm sure. Also the house I'm moving to is on a very quiet street with allotments behind it so it should be paradise for her to be honest :-)

I will keep you all posted as to how it goes :-) x

We manage to keep ours in by saying no as due to the nice weather some of my ferals think they should be out at night and we have differing opinions on that and they now get the NO Message

Hope the move goes well

Thanks for the replies! I am taking Jack my Cocker too so she will have her best mate with her lol!! I'm going to keep her in for as long as I can - until she starts getting crazy :-). Even if she only copes for a few days. Luckily the place I'm moving to has allotments behind the back garden & is on a very quiet street so I can only do my best for her and hope for the best. Jack & I have a close bond with her so I'm hopeful that she won't do a runner.

I will let you all know how it goes :-))

I would start the Zylkene now - easily done by splitting the capsule and putting it on wet food

Also if yu can get in to your new house plug a feliway in in the room she will be going in whilst all the movers and stuff do their thing and label the door so it is not opened by anyone

We sought vets advice with our ferals as we had trapped our colony to move them as well as noone could feed them and we used ACP tablets to knock them out for the journey, we now have a whole lot more and use Zylkene for the newbies to help them adapt, we have a pair dumped on us at the moment and they have been having Zylkene as they were taped in a cardboard box so glad for nosy cat obsessed Border Collies in the early hours of the morning on their last walk of the day

They are 2 black girls both calling called by us Midnight and Magic, they are Kali kittens doubles

I'm sure Liz will be able to give you many pointers Jacqui but, for the record, my input for what it's worth .........

I've read your previous posts concerning Lucy's previous disappearance and wonder if her pal (your dog) is coming with you?  Sorry if that's a sore point  but he might help to chill her out a bit?  A feliway plug in and some zylkene in her food (starting a week before the move) may help to take the edge off what will be another little trauma in her life.  What's the new accommodation like?  House and garden?  How secure/safe is garden?  Close to a road?  These things would influence your decision.

I would do my utmost to keep her in for as long as she/you can bear it (even for a day or so before the move in case the comings and goings involved in the move disrupt her) but, having said that, I do fully understand how impossible some cats are ........

Gandolf (now departed aged 18) came to us aged about 3 from the RSPCA.  OH chose him as he was climbing the cage and in obvious distress at being locked up.  He had been there for 6 months.  We took him home with advice to keep him in for 3 weeks which we fully intended to do until he started throwing himself at the window  :oh noo:  We let him out within the hour  :-[ :-[ :-[  This is not something I would recommend at all unless you really have no alternative.  He was however a complete nutter.  Thanks heavens he didn't run off but he could so easily have done so.

By the way what is it with the name Lucy?  My friend also had a crazy gal called Lucy.  Lucy conjures up the notion of such a sweet tempered, friendly gal.  Perhaps people think the name might somehow influence the semi feral behaviour?  ;)

Very best of luck with the move at what must be a very stressful time for all concerned

Due to my divorce I'm due to move home shortly and my semi feral cat Lucy is coming with me. I know you should keep cats in for a few weeks once you've moved but she really gets VERY distressed about being shut in anywhere - especially after what happened last September (she disappeared for 43 days after being trapped somewhere).

Can anybody give me any advice please? Thanks for your time everyone :-)
