Have just had reply from makers re the materials in their toys

The Fur thing accessory is made from Rabbit fur with catnip and polyester soft filling. The materials are obtained from the USA food industry as a "by product" of rabbit meat sold in stores.
Won't be stocking those and told them why!!!!. In their advertising they do not say real or not just fur accessory.

If it turns out they are real fur. I would email them and ask what they plan to do about it. I'm sure they would stop selling it in that case. If they didn't, there must be an equivilent of the DTI in America that could be informed they are selling mislabelled goods.

That is all a bit premature as hopefully they are just acrylic

The problem is they say Asian manufacturers are labelling real fur as fake fur so the only way to tell for sure is to burn one a bit. If it singes, its real. The terrible irony if cat toys are made from cat fur

-They say there are cat ornaments for sale that are trimmed with real cat fur - awful that people buy them while on holiday for cat-loving friends

If they are real fur and labelled as synthetic, they ned to be reported to the DTI - I know I'm being very serious about all this but is is affecting me badly and I feel so helpless.

BTW- looking forward to getting the "bird"

Great i love acrylic

im sure the cats would love a piece of rabbit to play with but unless they catch their own natural one they cant have. Thing i worry about is it being cat fur

apparently its cheaper than rabbit!

Yeap Rob those are them i not too sure about so have cancelled them and replaced them with 5 more da bird poles instead in 3rd order. Rather be safe than sorry with fur toys.

Yayyy the da birds have just arrived for the 1st order

Wanted to check that out with examples first and just seen the accessories samples that came with the 1st da bird order. The fur mice are not actually fur at all and are smaller than i thought but a hit with Garf so far (Gizzy is sleeping lol)

, The fur thing example could be, so i have cancelled any of those for our shop stock before confirming with the makers what they are made with. The other accessories are man made fibres.

Next batch of da birds ordered ( ordered 15) so there are 8 left in that batch free if anyone wants one. The 7 in that batch are for Ruth 4, Nick and Sarah and Lucifer so far. They will come in about 8 working days and i will send them straight out.

Hey works out on the 30 sold so far, we have made £69 profit for the rescues already and the shop aint even open yet

With the purrs shop we will be giving every £100 profit (100% of profits go to cat rescue) when it's made to a rescue on a fund list of Rescues in turn. Hopefully we can help quite a few that way. The fund list of cat rescues will be completed shortly esp as we are making money for it already but for now the 1st to benifit from the 1st £100 will be Eight lives left Kitten rescue (Our Lesley on here)

I think a ceiling mountable, simple, slow motor with a 1 ft high tensile steel 'arm' to attach the nylon string to would be a good idea for this.. similar to to the child's toy planes that fly repeatedly round and round. could be left on when u go out to keep them entertained (the kitties, not the children) and great to keep them from under your feet when you need to do things such as cooking and cleaning.. just an idea

. That makes the da bird cost only £4.95 incl postage and packing in UK with a doantion of £2.03 to make up the Purrs price of £6.98 each. Our total price £6.98 is cheaper than than other uk sellers and only pence more than ordering from USA sellers but includes the donation!!! Good eh!!

Mosi is gonna love this. he was practising last night with his feline flyer. When he chases that he runs in one direction after it, jumps up onto the arm of the sofa, does a back flip (about 6 ft in the air) and then lands the other side of the room (or occasionally on me, resulting in a shriek of pain and yet more scratch marks on my arms/hands/legs). Wish I could catch him on video but unfortunately I'm always the mug on the other end of the toy.
