The visit went very well tonight and it looks like not only will socks have a lovely new forever home, but nearly as importantly we should be getting a new forum member and Socks will be allowed to use the computer

Awwwww ...lets see what Socks thinks of her lorna. The greatest love is letting go though isn't it. Do you still have the kittens?

Oh I can so relate to this. I only started fostering in May last year, since then I've fostered 13 cats and kittens (plus 2 handrears) - and rehomed 10 of those. Each time one goes, theres a little piece of my heart gone too  :Luv2:

I was sure you would end up a 'failed' fosterer and keep Socks.  Hope the partings when they come are not too painful and its not long before you have another foster (or 5 ).

There's time yet  their may be a picket line across the drive when Jacky comes to collect them

I knew she was your foster kitty and it must be very hard for you to give her a new home but I know that you will make a marvellous mum to lots of kitties in need in the future and you could not do this if Socks stayed. I know you will not let her go to anyone but the most special home.
Sometimes the greatest love is in the letting go xx

OMG I didn't realise you were only fostering Socks  :(  She'll be missed on the cat's mouth section for certain.

Lovely that you got 2 of her kitties a home together - the people sound very nice.

It will, I'm completely besotted with all of them, at least I still have the other two kittens to home and then Socks so they will leave in instalments so to speak, I do hope it won't be long before Jacky sends me some more!
I had to write Socks' story for the CPL's newsletter & website the other day so that they can find her a forever home, I was tempted to say she is very naughty so it will take them a very long time to find someone who will take her  I had to retype it about a dozen times and it was very hard to hit the 'send' button

Glad they turned out to be nice people  :) There is no way I could foster as I would become hideously attached and not have the strength to let them go to new homes - I bet it's going to be hard they day they go

I'm so glad they seemed like a nice family and that they are having two kittens. It is so much easier with two as they are company and playmates for life like our Callie and Monty (they were called Tilly and Billy by the RSPCA home!!)
I hope they keep in touch and maybe they could join Purrs and update us?
That would be nice :)

The people have been and I think they will be fine, they arrived bang on time which is good since they aren't that local, they have spent nearly an hour here sat on my living room floor playing with the kittens, Socks also had a sniff at them and seems to think they will be OK too ;D
They all came wearing trousers and didn't object to being climbed on, the kittens weren't a bit shy :Luv2:
Of course they have fallen for Eenie my favourite and as they want a boy and a girl Minnie will be going with him, they are to be called Peaches and Dermott!
I don't know if they have been home checked so I'll have to speak to Jacky (CPL) about that, I know that she always delivers the kittens so I suspect she may do the home check at the same time, they don't live on a main road and they have a big garden which is good.
I get to keep them a little while longer anyway as they need their first vaccinations and microchip's sorting out yet.

If it is anything like homing baby hamsters I think you get a gut feeling about people and you just know if a person is going to be right.
People who are willing to make the effort and to spend time handling and playing with the animals and who are open and willing to learn come acoss well. I'm sure the CPL will also home check the lady?
We have learnt from the hammies who is serious and who is just a timewater.
Serious people always come on time and don't mess you about. They know that you are doing them a favour and notthe other way round. I hope the kittens get a lovely home and you don't miss them too much. You gave them a fabulous start in life and a lovely kittenhood xx

Has CP already home checked her? If so you don't need to ask her anything and they've already passed her.

Sock's kittens are 8 weeks old now and I have had my first phone call (passed on from Cats Protection) from a lady wanting kittens
She is coming at 4pm this afternoon.
This is going to be hard, I think a detailed interrogation will be required to make sure she can provide a suitable home.
Any tips? what should i be asking her?
