You must never assume malice when stupidity suffices you know. So many of the people having their cats declawed have absolutely no idea what it means.

That is true for some, but there are clearly many who do know what it entails but still think it's ok.  As far as they're concerned it's perfectly justifiable to declaw a cat because there's a baby in the house, it's scratching the furniture or (and yes, this was really given as a reason by someone) they were worried it would scratch the dog  :shify:  People do actually say things like "I had no choice.  My furniture was getting all messed up".

I would rather be scratched to pieces than declaw any cat - it's barbaric (as we all know).

How sore is you finger when you rip a nail ?????- VERY - a cat can't tell you how sore it is - they can't do anything you've taken their protest away.

Why am I telling you - you guys know this - it's those across the pond.

You must never assume malice when stupidity suffices you know. So many of the people having their cats declawed have absolutely no idea what it means. If it were commonplace here ( it isn't actually illegal here, but as you all know only done for medical reasons ), loads of people would have it done, look at all those f****** idiots who have their animals modified to meet with certain breeding criteria.
Frankly, I can't even begin to describe my loathing for the VETS that carry out this practice, the owners are in second place for me, the vets know EXACTLY what they are doing.

I added my very first post there to the new question posted. Thankfully some people are not so ignorant but there are a couple that you have to question their logic.  :censored:

I vacillate between giving scathing answers, sarcastic answers, useful answers and ignorning declawing questions on yahoo answers.  There are an enormous number of questions from people who have or plan to decalw their cats (and, thankfully, a lot of people who oppose declawing).  A lot of them put in the question that the declaw is going ahead no matter what so rude people can keep their opinions to themselves.  You just can't argue with some people.  They just don't seem to get why anyone is opposed to decalwing.  But then again, most of them seem to belong to the 'it's just a cat' brigade  >:(

ETA - what d'you know - someone on yahoo answers has just posted a question "do you agree with declawing"....
