My goodness Lesley I was hoping we may get to £2000 but am stunned almost into silence

What an absolutly amazing puuuuuuuuuformance by everyone who took part on Purrs, thank you each and everyone of you

The auction is hard work but when I see a result like that it makes all the late nights worth it and all I can say is start collecting for next years auction

I would also like to say a big thank you for everyone sending their money in so fast and making life easy for me in this respect. I know that many items are still in transit and at least one person has a problem sending at the moment, but if you havent got addresses to send stuff to, pester and if you havent heard that your item is in the post, please check.

I wish everyone A Very Happy Christmas and I am sure that the new equipment that Lesley has been able to purchase will give some kitties a better chance of life in the New Year

People pulling together like this to raise money is just amazing, and I for one am very proud to be involved in a forum with such brilliant people

The intensive care unit and accessories has arrived today and I will take photos when I have it at home so you can see where some of the money has gone.

We shall probably be giving the cat room a re-vamp and replacing the laminate flooring, which has been ruined by little accidents

with tiles and under floor heating for the babies to keep warm but as soon as I know, you will know.

Just done something that I meant to do but never had time during auction, and that was to count how many items we had.

It was just over 130

Then the pastels turned into two and we also had the naming and sponsorship threads which did so wonderfully well.

Dawn - Christmas puds, bet they cost a fortune to send with the weight!! Erika's mum and dad bought one when they weere here for her teacher and Fulvio and Ester also bought one for the travel agent. Hope they get them soon as I've had an email to say my pressies have a arrived and Erika couldn't wait and has opened hers!

Leigh - Can't sleep, not haad my fish yet!!!

Don't worry I'll never give up on my Smudgeroo, even though it's driving me mad changing all the posters as this rain is making the ink run even though I've put them in plastic wallets and taped them up. Roll on the sunshine, or better still, roll on Smudgie coming home to me.

any penguin (not only Mary penguin) would feel at home in this weather.

Very cold here too especially overnight last night and this morning. I went to Lake Guarda three years ago and it was absolutely beautiful, I went into Venice and did the gondolla bit, great. How nice that you have a family to stay with, all my travels over the years have been on my own but one makes one's own fun but it's nicer to have company. Still nowdays I don't go away at all because of the puds but I wouldn't have it any other way, I've travelled a lot over the years so I've seen my share of foriegn places. That's a lovely picture of Erika and Smudge, as I said in one of my other post "never give up hope".

Hi Leigh - where I live it is amazingly cold - ice on the inside of my car windows this morning aswell as outside and that was at 9.00 a.m. Had a doctor's appointment at 9.10 and had to scrape it all off really quick. So.... the penguin will feel at home

You and Dawn talking of Italy is getting me excited. I go there every year (Lido do Jesolo, nr Venice) on my own and made friends with a lovely Italian family same age as me with 2 children. Just sent their 'Natale' pressies off today. They came to stay with me 2 years ago at Christmas and we phone and email very often. Attached photo of Erika in my house with my Smudge who is missing. She cried on the phone when I told her and she wanted to come here to help me find him.

I didn't know your OH was 1/2 Italian Dawn, I couldn't detect any accent.

Now this IS eccentric. The other day when I was in Wilkinsons they had just had installed new electronic touch-screen tills and when I looked at my till receipt I noticed that it had included on it bananas, THEY DON'T SELL BANANAS. They were duelly apologetic and refunded said item and put it down to "gremlins" in the new system. A day or two later I was again in Wilkinsons and after studying my reciept to check that it was "banana-free" I couldn't resist breaking into song "Yes we 'ave no bananas, we 'ave no bananas today!".

Sometimes life give one an un-missable oportunity for such things

my motto in such cases is "Carpe Diem"

I think we also got about another £100 to add to that total due to a couple of things missed on the grand list but also on Gillians Pastel there will now be two and another £63 is to go on

So with all the roundings and stuff hopefully Lesley will be able to give us a final figure later and it could be very close to the magic £2k........I am in total shock
