I thoroughly recommend classical music for stressed cats. Played this (mostly baroque) till about 11pm last night, and she's totally different today. She's calm and eating well.

At around 5pm tonight, I'll give them another dose of this. The Mozart Effect works wonderfully for Sam.

I was in Surrey last night, and there were quite a few going off round 6pm, we had no idea why.

Will buy some feliway tomorrow, have an old one plugged in. My cats didn't respond when I've tried it before (when vet thought cystitis might be stress related). The emergency vet didn't stock it - it's recommended so often on Purrs that it came to mind.

I hope this doesn't go on much longer. Unfortunately, the students have parties around Xmas, and let off fireworks then. Then there's the New

Year.

Oh ban the lot of them.

I should chill, I'm in a really foul mood.

They've just started again. I didn't notice at first but Sam is on my lap and tensed - then I noticed the bangs and have turned up the mozart! I don't know why it's going on for so long. Maybe it's the students.

Will take her to vet tomorrow, see if she needs some kind of traquilliser!!!

Anyone any tips please?

Had to take Sam to emergency vet last night. She was in distress, meowing and sitting in her litter tray doing nothing. Thought she might be constipated/cystitis. She weed on my lap too!

Went to emergency vet service near a cat loving friend (didn't want to see Vets Now, which my vet uses). He gave her a thorough exam, including testing the urine sample she conveniently gave him.

He concluded that nothing wrong except he thought she was showing signs of stress. I told him there was no change in environment, then Rebekah, my friend mentioned fireworks!!!! Bingo!!!!

Keeping her quiet and if fireworks start tonight will mask them with some Mozart. Cats like classical music!

Cost nearly £90. He gave her a long-acting penicillin injection 'just in case' she was developing cystitis, cos her urine was strong but no blood or sign of infection.

Bloody fireworks!!!

Same for us. A pile of fireworks tonight, but not as much as Monday. My area is mostly Turkish and Greek and don't celebrate Dawali, so thankfully the night is a bit quieter - though all from one house it sounds like and doesn't stop. A lot of bangers.

Divali is in full swing our way - it sounds like bombs going off. Luckily Xanthe is pretty calm about it all, so not too fussed for her. It is a hard one, I feel for the animals but it is a major celebration for so many people round here.

I think it's the Hindu festival of lights, which lasts for a week and ends tonight/tomorrow - apparently there's a lot of sweet giving/eating

The big Hindu temple in Neasden is gonna have a massive firework display that will light up most of North London - normally I'd think

but now we have the cats and Jessie's stress weeing to deal with I feel more

I can hear loads of fireworks going off in the distance now...

yes it has restarted here too. But my lot don't seem too concerned. Even really loud ones just get one eye open and tucked in the head once more... I think I jump further than the cats and dog when they are close and loud.

how come it's so much worse for dogs? Is their hearing really so much more sensitive? Thank God the fireworks have stopped finally tonight. We have a huge council firework thing every year really near here and then all the local critters light their's up for the next few nights. Well, I ad 2 laugh tonight

every year without fail a house across the road from us let's off lot's of squeeb's

and being on the 2nd floor of a Flat they alway's seem to go off right next to my windows

well they let them off tonight while misty was cleaning Himself, they'd let off one of those repeating ones !!
Flash/Bang/Flash/Bang,etc,etc I stopped counting after 20, I was watching Misty at the time and for every Bang!!
there was a Single lick of the Bottom

edit: I did try and get it on film

but by the time I got my camera out the squeeb's had stopped

In my case, it's the people around me. And not just because of fireworks - they all seem to be noisy round here. Screaming kids, excessive use of car horns, idiotic college students.....you get the idea.

I was pretty perturbed that we got TWO rocket sticks hitting our kitchen window, though. If it had got damaged I'm not sure whether we'd have had to replace it! (Rented property.)

idiot manchild next door had fireworks Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday night

Can still hear bangs going off in the distance, which I assume is for Divali and/or people using up left over fireworks

my two are visibly disturbed by it all - all wide-eyed and can't rest but at least tonight is quieter.

Divali is 8th / 9th this year - round here they go on through divali and then until all the half price left over fireworks get used up.

We have had organised fireworks on Friday and Saturday and Sunday night and I managed to get my lot inside before they started. They were all hiding somewhere in the house and only came out when everything had stopped.

Last night was a different matter. I managed to get Pepper and Buddie in just after 5pm but not Samson. At about 10 to 6, fireworks started to be let off left right and center, and Sam went to hide under the shed. It took me till after 9pm to finally coax him out and carry him into the house. The poor lad was trembling and I was so cross. Given that poeple had lots of public displays since Friday, why did they all have to have their private ones last night. I'm still very much cheesed off but will know for next year and make sure I'll lock them up inside by 5pm latest.

Not sure if I'm more angry with myself or with all these inconsiderate folk around me.

We hardly had any fireworks around our way last night, which was excellent

Didn't end up going out in the end anyway is it was raining, which might have had something to do with the lack of fireworks

They were closer here tonight than before, poor Bella spent part of the time on top of the bookcase, but they didnt go on for too long last night. Tiger was barely seen last night, she has been hiding under the bedding that is drying.

The boys were absolutely fine again tonight, there were a few really loud ones but what actually woke them up was me going 'It's OK baby, Mummy's here'

They stretched their littles toes out contentedly and closed their eyes again

I've been really impressed by them as Lukey can be a bit of a scaredy cat with new noises but he's been so brave, Riley is as nosey as ever and was either unconscious or sat on the windowsill chasing the 'whooshes' with his eyes

Lo and behold I heard some fireworks HERE in Rome too!! (Couldn't see it as there are too many obstacles around our building...

) It's really out of the season and I guess there are some folks from Briatin celebrating!!

Oliver wasn't bothered at all, he became quite a noise proof puss by now. This is a busy part of the town and we hear constantly all sorts of noise, traffic, trains etc. even through the sound proof window. Then there is our oversized fridge in the kitchen that makes some weird noise off and on... he was a bit freaked when he came here from his former home in the country side, but quickly adjusted himself. He even sleeps through in front of me while I am doing my work out with music at full blast!!

My cats are all in and just chillin'

I am very proud of em all cos I just come back from a display in carmarthen............12 miles away........and when i got home they were all just waiting for me in the house.................oh they so good and I love em

Everything happens early here cos out in country but this year we have had fireworks on all three days , whereas last two years have been nothing. So area is changing.

When I lived in London the fireworks would still be going at midnight and they would start before it got dark.
