OK, I understand you are all concerned about Felix as am I.  But please don't insinuate aggression towards other forum members - that's not what this forum is about, and the fact people don't do that is what makes it special.

Ruth, I personally have had negative experiences with the PDSA and I know other people have too. Not all surgeries or representation are as useful as they claim to be.

Trigger, this person has posted about Felix before. Whether or not this post has been made to make people scared or anxious I don't know, but I don't think we should be tracking him down in the manner we are.

I hope Felix is OK and that Tryme returns soon to update.

I've re read Tryme's posts and don't think this is a wind up. Hopefully he has now brought Felix to vet.

If a wind up merchant, then I'm very, very glad.

If not, then this is the kiind of person who should be banned from EVER keeping an animal.  If true, take him to the vet NOW - worry about paying for it later.

Please God let it be a wind up merchant.

I've had cats and been poor - I went without so they got whatever they needed, and they went to the PDSA if they needed treatment (I was on hardship benefit at the time).

When Vlad got hit by a car, he wasn't insured.  We had no idea how we were going to pay, but he was at the vet within half an hour - at night (well, evening).
The others are now insured.

When we first noticed Edward's limp (truly the first sign of his cancer), he was at the vet the next day, and I was in tears all night with worry.
My credit card bill didn't get paid for two months to enable me to pay for the vet to come out and put him to sleep at home, and to take him off to be cremated.  I couldn't bear the thought of his last few minutes being scary.

Assuming this is real, take him to the vet NOW, or take him to a shelter so he can be looked after by somebody who's able to.  Leaving him in agony till morning is simply inhuman, and intolerable.

because i am covered by the rspca and the pdsa

Covered for life, how so?

I dont have insurance, if anything goes wrong I just have to pay later. I have too many cats to be paying out just incase.

And the pdsa only covers people on housing/ council tax benefits  ;)

I googled Tryme's email address and according to the myspace info

19 years old, male student, In London where it is easy to find a vet or an emergency clinic.

So therefore if this is true, than a student can use the PDSA.

I was thinking I was being cynical, but how do we know that Felix even exists? I haven't read previous posts and I have never had an accident prone cat, but as has been suggested maybe this is a wind up?

I'm lost for words and almost in tears about the fact that a so called animal lover can watch a kitty in pain with his bone showing. Just pick up the phone and keep calling until you find someone who will let you pay in installments or give felix to someone who cares. My kitty only has a slight limp and even though vet advised we wait til morning I'm sitting in tears watching him so I honestly don't know how you can stand to watch an animal suffer.

I think there is a way that an IP address can be traced, just to the area i think ? im not technical.

I have also read tryme posts......

Its a case of sit, wait & watch for them comin online, and Pray Felix has seen a vet (but how can it be proved if Felix has seen a vet or not.

Im also wondering about the £250 call out etc...... Its not even that for a bloody horse !!!!

Poor Felix

What vet charges £250 call out fee?  I'm a bit puzzled by that.  My vets charge about £70 for emergency consultation and I know some (like vets now) will charge more than that, but £250?

When you spoke to the vet did they sound like they would not even consider letting you pay in installments?  I know that some vets do and some dont', but tbh, I would take Felix and then worry about paying afterwards.  No vet worth their salt would refuse to actually see an injured animal that is there on the doorstep because the owner couldn't afford to pay.  Whenever I've taken one of my boys to the emergency vet they don't demand money on the doorstep - they do examine the cat first.  I do symathise with your prediament as I am pretty skint at the moment and have no savings, so there are times when I couldn't afford £250.  But I would take my boys to the vet if it was needed and then worry about how to pay.

Did you manage to speak to a vet?  When I ring my vet out of hours I get through to a call centre.  They pass the details on to the vet who then rings me to discuss it and let me know whether a trip to the surgery is needed.  That telephone consultation costs nothing so I hope you can at least get some advice on how to care for Felix overnight if you really can't get to the vet.

Be warned Tryme, if I find out where you live I will make sure someone pays you and your cat a 'social services' visit!

I'm on benefits and use the PDSA who are VERY GOOD...I notice from your previous posts you have mentioned the PDSA?

GO BACK!

I notice you make a lot of posts that take this form Tryme......let me assure you if you are playing silly butters, you will get short shrift.....there is a difference between not knowing something and ignorance, the last group are those who do not want to know or do not learn from a previous experience, ATM you are acting mightly like the last group  >:(

However if you are not you MUST do something NOW!

Ahhh why am I wasting my breath...he won't log on for several days now.... :tired:

i can't afford pet insurance but i make damn sure that if one of my pets need a vet they get one immediately.  i live on benefits of £90 a week and have 13 cats, 2 dogs and 2 teenagers.  i would rather stave than see one of my family in pain.  i would beg, steal or borrow if i had to.  money is not an issue when it comes to the care of my pets.

i agree with Liz, this cat should be signed over to a charity and given the chance of finding somebody who WILL care for him properly.

I have one credit card, I probably won't have it much longer cos I haven't used it since I got it. The reason I got it, £250.00 limit, was so that if either of my cats needed treatment, the initial funds would be there. I would sell anything else I had to to provide care for my kitties, leaving them in pain would not be an option.

Tryme, definitely call around. Some vets are more sympathetic than others regarding the cost of treatment.

I'm so sorry Felix is going through all this - he seems to do so regularly though. Do you have any idea how he keeps injuring himself so badly? He is neutered, isn't he?

I can understand peoples anger regarding Felix if his injuries are as severe as they sound. I can also understand your predicament; I don't have a lot of money but I will go without myself if necessary to provide my animals with what they need.

I totally agree. If the poor cat had been insured this wouldn't have been a problem. Don't expect to get any sympathy on here - if people can't look after their animals properly, they shouldn't have them  >:(

In fact, you are risking prosecution.
What does the Animal Welfare Act do?
It makes owners and keepers responsible for ensuring that the welfare needs of their animals are met.

These include the need:

For a suitable environment (place to live)
For a suitable diet
To exhibit normal behaviour patterns
To be housed with, or apart from, other animals (if applicable)
To be protected from pain, injury, suffering and disease
The law also increases to 16 the minimum age at which a person can buy an animal and prohibits giving animals as prizes to unaccompanied children under this age.

Anyone who is cruel to an animal, or does not provide for its welfare needs, may be banned from owning animals, fined up to £20,000 and/or sent to prison.

which is why i have asked where they are ........... ? and see what happens from there.
