Probably because we live in such a dishonest world where a large proportion of animals would suddenly be classed as unknown

RSPCA will prob PTS
Do you remember the cat that my friend found after an RTA, RSPCA collected it and then told vets to PTS because they would only pay £50 towards the Op which was going to cost alot more !!!

What also angers me is why vets wont do these OPS for free when an unknown cat has been taken in after an RTA.

a really excellent outcome - sorry I missed all the excitement - will have to see if I can keep up that statistical average for Medway and see if I can win lotto so I don't have to go to

I have nothing against any forum that is out there to help any rescue in distress and my comment was to do with something else and nothing!

They would be and are genuinely appreciative of the help.I think maybe a fresh slate is needed as the people there are all (well mostly,there is the odd wierdo

) only interested in animal welfare and pulling together to do that.I'll PM you,that's probably better.

I feel mightily relieved this cat is safe now.I hope she pulls through.

This kind of situation and owners that don't give a sh*t about their animal are one of my real bugbears in life.

I have sent a message to the girl who found the cat and took her to the vets to make sure she isn't pts and have passed on Teresa's details.

I hope this works out ok and huge thanks to Teresa for offering to help this little one.

I've only been here a day but thanks for coming to my aid when needed.

She has spoken to the RSPCA who will take the cat but won't guarantee not to pts.Sadly my experience of the RSPCA is that they will in all likelihood do exactly that

She's told the vet to go ahead and do x rays and put up a drip and see how the cat gets on at this stage as she's becoming more shocked.

We have had 2 cases of broken pelvis this year and Sharon agreed to pay the bill. Often it's a case of cage rest. They should try the local CP although lancs is a big place so don't know who the local one is - the owner would need to sign the cat over. If she was that casual, she doesn't deserve the cat anyway.

Usually the vets will have the phone numbers of local rescues and will call round themselves.
Realistically, how much work can be done on a broken pelvis (and hence how expensive is it)? Its not something I've had to deal with.

A cat has been knocked over out side my house. We've taken it to the vets and he reckons a broken pelvis. The little mite was very cold and going into shock so they have given her pain killers and put her on a heat mat to try and help keep her comfortable.
Shes only a baby - 6 months old tops. The vet has done the minimum at the mo to keep her comfy until I could ask the owners what they wanted to do. Owner is a single mum, just her and her baby. She cant afford the treatment but was really casual in her PTS verdict :shock:
This little girl is now waiting at the vets with no home to go to and the decision on her life is now in my hands But I cant afford the bill either and have no where to keep a convelescing cat seperate from the dogs :cry:
I dont know what to do - I dont want to see her PTS :cry:
Anyone know of any rescues in the area (Lancashire but not sure where exactly,I will ask but wanted to post this asap) that may help this little cat

Please move if I've posted in the wrong place,I'm still getting to know my way around.
