Well, Frank is still not a happy bunny, he's weeing OK at the mo, but he went in for x-rays last night, and the results are awaited.

He's just not eating wet food at all, despite being very hungry.....they've given him some special dry food which at least means he'll get some food inside him though, poor little man.

We're going round for dinner on Saturday night, so shall administer some healing head tickles, and see if they help  :Luv2:

Not sure if they xrayed MM, I'll try and speak to her in a bit, but her phone's off at the mo

She's tried all sorts of wet food since she's had him, I've given her sachets of Whiskas Oh So Meaty, Natures Menu, and Applaws to try, but he just won't go anywhere near them .... apparently he's always had dry food, and that's all he would eat at CP too.  He never eats or drinks a huge amount anyway, he drinks more cat milk than water I think.

Has she tried him on high meat (expensive) brands or just the likes of Felix? Has she tried pouches? These are nicer than tins, Betsy had the same trouble with her new cat Thomas who didnt eat the tinned meat  :sneaky:

The likes of Applaws or Natures Menu may entice him. The most important thing is to avoid fish.

The other thing to mention to the vets is Cystaid  ;D
Did they x ray him in the end?

So pleased for Frank and Tessa.  Fingers crossed for future good health.

Maybe she could try wet food with a little dry on top or mixed in - might work, might not!! :)

Lol, yeah I can imagine the puds are losing their voices after all that chanting, and you might need to open the windows a fraction to let the smoke from all the josticks out now  :wow:

I gotta get Maxy a turbo-scratcher ........ oh darn, still 3 weeks til payday  :tired:

That's excellent news hun, so pleased that he is back home. I'll put the remaining josticks on standbye alert, the cat mantras are great but they wear a little thin after 24 hours and Frankie's been whizing the ball around in the turbo scratcher thing like a Buddist prayer wheel, I swear that I saw smoke coming from it but it might have just been the burning incense  ;D

Please pass on my best wishes to Tessa and Frank.

Cheers

Well, I'm pleased to say that Frank is home again now, Tessa went to see him last night at the surgery, and as I suggested, took up something snuggly which smelt of home  :Luv:  An hour later, she had a call to say he'd had a little wee on his own, and could go home.

He's since had a few more wees, and seemed OK when he had a check-up this morning.  The vets have given him some special food, but as yet he hasnt touched it.  He only eats dry food, never touches wet, so if anyone has any tips about how to make him start eating wet food, I'd be really grateful  :shy:

I remember Frank  ;D
If his cystitis was bad enough to hospitalise i would be really suspicious of him having stones in his bladder. It is possible to have no crystals in the urine but have stones. An x-ray would tell all.
It would be worth asking the vet about this, as he sounds like he was really poorly.

Wow Leigh, mantras and josticks, your 3 have pulled out the stops  ;D  Frank will be verrry happy about all his FIV virtual buddies pulling together for him, and will be extra happy that Suzie has joined the boys for a spot of fun  :evillaugh:

Please send some healing vibes for my friend's FIV boy....
« Reply #1 on: January 03, 2008, 10:50:48 AM »
Hi everyone

My friend Tessa has really been through it recently with her FIV boy Frank  :(

He had a rather nasty bout of flu earlier in the year which I'm very pleased to say he's recovered from well, but the other day they found what they thought was a cyst, he was due to go for more tests today in fact, but he ended up at the emergency vets on Tuesday night as his cystitis has flaired up again and he's been at the vets overnight again on a catheter.

They hope he can come home today, assuming he can wee on his own.  They've not found any evidence of crystals so far I'm told.

Poor Frank is quite a nervous pud, so I'm sure its all the stress of the vets which is causing the cystitis to flair again, but I know she is worried about him and missed him dreadfully last night, so can everyone send some healing vibes his way to hope he can come home again this evening

Thanks xxxx
