I have just received an email from St Neots CP who (surprise, surprise) are full at present, and desperately trying to find a home for this cat who has been left at a vets in Cambourne to be pts. :'(
The contact details are on their website:

Poor little soul.
-
Surely this is in Cornwall not Cambs, I really feel for this little one and hope somewhere wonderful is found for her, got to say shame on the writer who refers to her as an It, that doesnt help her.
Hope you can find somewhere Jasmine
-
Poor girl, another unwanted oldie - so sad :( and your're right T, terrible wording
-
Just wondered if Catchat could do an appeal?
Surely the branch could find somewhere to give her a reprieve?
Is there anyone on here from that area that could even foster temorarily until there is a space otherwise. This is just awful that a poor healthy cat can be PTS for no good reason. Surely something can be done :(
I agree that there should be a gender, name and description of this poor baby.
-
was just about to ask Jasmine if she has also posting on Catchat - someone on there may be able to help, I got my Pep from there who was going to be pts and I know a few others also enquired.
-
I just don't understand why people could even come to the idea that if they don't want a cat they can kill him/her...
Don't they ever feel guilty at all?
You'd even feel regret to throw away a toothbrush after using it for several months...And this is their company for the last couple of years....If they really don't want the cats anymore at least they can let them go free. Why they have to kill them......

I agree.. surely someone local would take her in. Never understood why they PTS a healthly animal, my aunty works for CATS PAWS rescue, she taked in old cats local here. At one point as a child I remember over 20 cats in one half of her house that she fostered till homes were found.

Jasmine - just received this message from (Super) Niall: if there is nowhere else for the cat and it is going to be pts, if we can sort a transport run I will take into cat run and home from here

Let me know if he can help, I'll PM you his email address.

Great news ;D
Niall is a star :)
Where in Kent is he based?
Hopefully the branch should be able to arrange transport.
-
I've just brought this to the attention of our branch co-ordinator (Ely & District PC) by e-mail.
I can't make any guarantees as we're just about stuffed to the rafters too. I can but try though.
-
Am not 100% sure Mark, so just messaged him. :) He is a star, bless him!
EDIT: Bexley Heath, Kent. :)
-
Thanks to everyone for their replies.
I think I should point out though that I am not personally involved with St Neots CP - just on their mailing list as I have offered some help in the past.
Surely this is in Cornwall not Cambs,
This is defo St Neots, Cambridgeshire T; I have the name of the vets in Cambourne where the cat is currently based.

To be fair, I think they have limited info and it was probably written in a rush.

I forwarded the email on to Mandy after I posted this (just in case the branch hadn't).

I'll forward the email on to you, thanks Witty.

Cheers Jas, have already sent it on its way. As I said, no guarantees, but we can but try.
-
Fingers crossed something can be sorted, there seems to be a lot of these cases at the moment.
Miafey - sadly letting the cat go instead would actually be a crueller fate.
-
I haven't been able to contact St Neot's yet - everytime I ring the phone is engaged.
But I've just checked CC, and it appears Moira has got thru and this cat is now out of immediate danger - she has been placed in a cattery for a couple of weeks (so I will amend the title).
-
Finger's crossed that all will be good for her! So sad and should never of come to that in the first place! >:( :(
Well Done to you all! ;)
-
Thats great news -well done everyone - lets hope she finds her forever home very soon now.
-
Yes, I spoke with Dawn as I was going to offer to short term foster. She put me through to a lady called Anna who was dealing with the case and she told me that the cat was being borded in a cattery until 5 September and that they had a possible adoptive home for her (fingers crossed). Unfortunately, it never ends. I understand they have just had another one in for pts whose owner has a brain tumor and can't cope. So, anyone able to offer St Neots any help please get in touch with them.
-
Fingers crossed that things work out for her :crossed:

Received this e-mail from Anna (CP St Neots) today:
Good Morning,
Firstly I’d like to thank you for your email and offer of help. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has come forward.
I’m pleased to report though that we have managed to find a home for this elderly cat with a lovely family which is brilliant news. They were looking for a younger cat but when they saw our email, decided that the age didn’t matter and will be picking her up soon.
However from our request we have had another call for help from a lady who sadly is dying of a brain tumor and has two 12 year old cats that will also be put to sleep if a new home cannot be found for them. I am sorry to pass on a second story of this kind in a week but if you know of anyone who can help then we would be grateful to hear from you. The cats are currently staying with a veterinary nurse but it is not an ideal situation and they need to found a permanent home as soon as possible. If you would like more details please get in touch and I will pass on the contact number.
Thank you once again for your help so far.

Glad she is sorted now :)
-
Yay! So glad she is now safe! :Luv:
-
ccmacy: my understanding is that CP St Neots are full and in crisis just like most other rescues at the moment.
-
Eek Moira.... Is that another cat needing help asap? :scared:
-
Bazsmum: 2 cats, Sooty and Sweep. One black and one black/white. Dont know gender. Anna attached photos but I couldn't open them.
I have offered to short term foster to buy her time but am not in a position to adopt (I have six plus 2 long term fosters already).

As Moira & Bazsmum are currently offline, I thought I'd amend the thread with a copy of the email & pics (which crashed my inbox at 4,000 pixels each!).

Many thanks, Jasmine, that's great.

awww what a shame, poor lady and her poor beautiful cats :(
-
So sad about the owner! :(
Sending positive rehoming vibes to this gorgeous pair~~~~~~~Best of luck! :Luv:

Does anyone know if an appeal was sent via CP internal email to other branches either for the first cat or for Sooty & Sweep?. I can't remember all the details but an FIV cat in our region was found a place by someone at Dover CP as the branch put out an appeal to other branches.
-
I don't know where else they have tried, I picked up the thread on Catchat. I would have assumed they have tried other CP branches also. Haven't heard anything over the weekend.
-
Just to update. Sweep has now found his forever home with a lovely lady called Sam and her 2 3yr old feisty females. I am waiting to hear from CP St Neots about Sooty.
-
Am glad Sweep has found a home and keeping my fingers crossed for a positive outcome for Sooty! :crossed:
-
Great news about Sweep and hope that Sooty soon gets a loving forever home too xx
