RR, Welsh as a language isn't as hard to learn as some I can think of. tIt's unlikely that very many dogs understand it, even so if you do get one, just say to it "nos da" and it'll curl up and go to sleep.

The really difficult thing is talking to talking to French cats - especially Parisien cats!

Re transport, when AR's get involved, this isn't usually a problem, they have a large network as you know and usually something can be sorted so distance isn't usually a problem.

I have to say this is all very sad news....

We have a dog warden. She's a lovely woman. I know she's supposed to move dogs on after 7 days, but she just keeps them until she's found them a home. She's always round the town sticking posters up appealing for homes. And she's very successful.

But it's a small town and not too many cases for her to deal with.

Where is the Dogs Trust in all of this...???

They're the biggest dog rescue in the country and they've got a no PTS policy.

I know one of the pounds in this area, they keep for 7 days and then they are pts

The inspector wasn't there tonight so couldn't ask him about the Abergele Pound but have emailed a couple of peeps to get them to verify the info that's been forwarded on.

Council run pounds dont work like rescues, dogs that are brought in as strays are given 7 days either the owner claims the dog back, or a rescue takes the dog after the 7 day period. Theres odd times when a dog/s are given a wee bit more time. Or the pound ( depends on the pound I suppose) rehomes from there?

Dogs that are surrended by the owner are given 24 hours either the onwer claims the dog back or rescues takes it or rehomed .

Either way dogs are PTS by the pounds where some rescues have a no kill policy & do the best to rehome them. The amount of pups/dogs ending up in pounds not all of them will be lucky to find a rescue space/rehomed.....theres more pups/dogs then responsible homes & rescues/pounds can only cope/struggle with so many of them.

I'm confused now by this about them not putting to sleep.......I will double check tonight. I'm pretty sure at one of our meetings, the inspector was saying the Abergele Pound keep dogs one week and then they are pts. Our local rescue also told me this as they have a no kill policy so it's chocca all the time.

Dawn try Sarah and Paul at Wiccaweys BC Rescue they have lots of contacts and usually can help especially with the BC side of things and knowing them with most of the others they are wonderful people who will give their last for animal welfare

I emailed Ros from the Rough Collie Rescue last night.

She has contacted Michelle at the Pound, apparently most of the collies were borders and went to the Border Collie Trust in Staffs yesterday.

Jayne at german shepherd rescue has phoned me back & someone already has sent the same email to her & she will try to do something but shes over run with dogs just now & no where to put them & now has a serious setback to the rescue financially that is effecting the dogs that the rescue has & any future dogs especially the at risk dogs, the rescue now as the added burden of seeking legal action

Will be in Cheshire this weekend with a hire car, a passenger, dog and a new cat but can probably squeeze one extra dog in the back if it is friendly and calm (have a dog restraint I can use) if someone down this way needs transport to get one here. It can stay in the back garden overnight if it is not housetrained.

Are there any contacts ouit there to help? 25 dogs due to be killed at Abergele dog pound THIS Friday, they include white GSD male, 14 collies, several cross jack russells, cross labradors.Any offers of help?
