would move the supermarket ad to a vet practice board and get references from the vets about all potential owners.

Sound advice.

I've been looking for an older cat for a while now ,just never find one that's nearby  :(

Aitch, have you tried all the rescues on this list? http://www.catchat.org/adoption/berks.html

I find it hard to believe that theres no older cats in rescue in Berkshire!! Essex has plenty! Maybe we need to ship some over into another county

Good luck Alma  :luck:

Where r u Aitch? If ya not too far i'nm sure they'd be willing to meet you some where they just want a loving home for her

I hope you don't mind my saying but even if posters on here say they will take a cat in, it is wise to get a local rescue to do a home visit first. I am sure there are enought people on here who could help you find a rescue who would be willing to do a home visit for you.

I total agree.  I homecheck everyone who has a cat off me no matter how far away they live, in this day and age you have to be careful.  I'm sure Aitch can offer such a loving home but there are peeps out there with ulterior motives so you can't be too careful.

thats a good idea Ela thanks

I just feel that they have enough to worry about with their mother in a nursing home with not long to live,

If I had the room i'd take her and sort it from there but I have 2 of my own and one That belongs to a neighbour (i think) but comes to me for food I saw him eatin from the bins and gave him a sachet of food now he's here twice a day

she is a lovely old girl

11 is not old for a cat.

the owners daughter has put an advert in supermarket and church so keepin fingers crossed she is a lovely old girl just very timid which is why the don't wanna put her into a rescue

I personally think that it would be far wiser to let a rescue care for the little one, we are full of timid cats and usually with the TLC the people in rescue give adapt very quickly and go on to find loving homes. I think allowing a rescue to re-home is far safer than advertising in a Supermarket. A person can apply and come to view the little one and seem the loveliest family on earth, well the would do if the want the cat wouldn't they. What an easy way to get a cat for vivisection, dog baiting etc.
Even advertising in a church is not as safe as it may seem, I am sure we all know someone who goes to church on a Sunday to confess their sins, yet the rest of the time they are shall we say undesirable.

Alma 11 needs new home PLEASE HELP!!!!!
I am postin this for a friend if anyones interested or know of somewhere that will take her please let me know and i'll pass it on thanks
WE DON'T WANT ALMA TO GO BACK INTO A CATTERY TYPE RESCUE
Hi I am Alma I am 11 yrs old
I have lived with 2 elderly owners, my present owner has had to go into a nursing home so I need somewhere else to live
I am a bit of a lap cat when I get to know you, like to have my head rubbed and am very loving and loyal.
I love my food as my picture shows and being lazy
I am quite a good footballer with a practise golf ball
I can be very timid and like to hide but given the chance to get to know you I am very friendly
I haven't lived with any other animals and would like to have ALL the attention so i would be best as an only cat
I hope someone can help me find somewhere to live out my days with lots of love and attention

I am in Measham, Derbyshire.
