Well she still has him and he is out and about tonight downstairs,Turbo is upstairs and won't come down but at least the woman is trying.  I always thaught cats will settle in no matter what just give them time and that growling and hissing is just their normal way or establishing themselves in the household

Generally they will but you do get some cats who just wont live with other cat company, same way you get anti social humans  :evillaugh:

The only spraying thats likely to happen is Turbo. Has your friend got any feliway?

If she doesn't succeed I will definately give him a go but I am just worried if I'll cope finantially.  If I have him I'll have to buy different kinds of food even after the kitten fase as mine are on senior but I'd do without before my cats go without if you know what I mean :evillaugh:

If he settles in well then I am very happy for him because he's in a fab home with lots of love, food, warmth and attention.

Looking back reading what I've read I feel a selfish  :censored: now  :(

HE wont be spraying that young, but may have a slightly different smell. I hope she gives it a decent amount of time, I would say a minimum of a month, but cats dont always settle, that would be like expecting humans to eventually get on with people they live with, no matter what, and it doesn't happen. The odds are better with him being so young though. If you would struggle to take him in, it might be worth putting feelers out at local rescues, vets etc to see if someone else could help.

I'm not too well up on young cats as I'm a Senior Kittizen specialist but I'd say that if there's a hormoney smell putting Turbo off then he' probably be spraying nowish. Not sure though. I do know that Smokey wasn't neutered when he first went to CP and they said he didn't spray once when he was entire. So I suppose it doesn't happen to all boys.

We have enquired about the neuturing and they won't do male cats around here before 6 months,my neighbour is mainly worried about him spraying everywhere but he would be too young to do this yet wouldn't he?

He's such a good cat, just been round there now and he's loving his scratching post and mouse and used his litter try twice by himself during play :wow:  I really hope he settles there because in my opinion he just fits in well,if you know what I mean.  We'll see anyway and if he won't then fair enough I'll give him a go but I have 2 other cats and 2 dogs for him to get used to,bit different to one puddy cat he's got now :evillaugh:

Mind you though my cats usually rule the dogs so they definately know their place :evillaugh:

I agree with Corporal, at 4 months, the hormones could be an issue.

Poor Turbo, she feels threatened by the younger cat,she probably thinks she is going to be replaced thats why she is reacting like this to her owner :(

Hang on! Before you give up hope remember his age. Even if this isn't the case, it may convince your neighbour. At 4 months I'm guessing he's coming into that time in his life and probably has a certain smell to Turbo. I'd see if you can have him done at 5 months (I don't think you can do it any younger but I'm not sure) and try again.

Good luck, I hope it works out for all concerned. Cats are their own worst enemies sometimes! Right home, right owner, right cat and it doesn't work. Do they do it deliberately? Is that why we love them so much?

well it looks like by tomorrow I will be an owner of another male cat,at least I will give it a good go even if it don't work out :shy:

How awful for you Gwen  :evillaugh:  Seriously though, it's a shame your neighbour won't give it longer but wherever he ends up sounds like he's found himself a good home.  Ging and Grwndi won't know what's hit them

What ever happened Turbo has really got upset and Turbo must come first, she has to feel unthreatened and able to go in and out of her own home, which she clearly doesnt at the momemnt  :(

Update and Turbo won't go into the house, shes been out most of the day and if the her owner goes to pick her up she scratches her and she has to put her down.

Is this really a no,win situation? :(

btw Turbo used to be a full time outdoor cat until 2 years and was fed outside etc and now shes an indoor/outdoor cat.  Personally I would give it a week at least but I guess some people aren't as patient :(

You are right it can take a long time for cats to accept each other and Turbo sounds very upset and probably feels threatene by this chilled out kiddie.

I cant remember Turbos story but it sounds like turbo is still settling in and having found a nice home maybe doesnt want to share it.

Ramses is gorgeous but unless she tries for time with recommended way of introductions, Turbo may get worse......she may anyway  :(

I hope it works but being a pessimist by nature feel it may not.

To be honest Turbo can be tempremental at the best of times, you can fuss her then she'll swipe at you for no apparent reason and go off,Rameses is so chilled out for his own good lol  he's only 4 months so not neutured yet but he uses his litter try/eating/drinking fine.

Wheres Wizz's advice page?

Is he a confirmed neuter?

It does sound like Turbo is threatened by Ramses as his behaviour has changed. Is he normally a loving cat?
I would reccomend feliway and to follow wizz catz advice, but some cats just will not share their home with another  :shy:

Well my other next door neighbour has taken him in,the one who has the 3 legged cat Turbo.  Now she is very worried about how Turbo is going to react and therefore she has not commited 100% to having him and is desperate for me to take him but to be honest I just cant afford another cat at the minute but if she really couldn't cope with him then fair enough.

Problem is that Turbo is hissing and growling at him even if he's in the other room and has turned pretty nasty towards my nighbour and scratches her if she even attempts to fuss Turbo.  I have given her a dog crate so she can put him in there so turbo can get used to him,is this a good idea?  and she brings him out every now and then,he has his litter try and food/water in the cage with him along with a bed and a few toys.

Now are we doing the right thing in introducing them this way?  This is how I have always done it with mine but am trying to get this cat to stay with my neighbour as she is such a great woman and Ramses would have the best home with her.

btw Ramses is such a chilled out cat you wouldn't believe,I walked into her house last night and he was asleep on her armchair and he didn't flinch :Luv:

I will take him in if this doesn't work out but if the hissing/growling thing a sign that turbo is very distressed or will that ease off in time?  and how long exactly would you give a cat to settle into a home realisticly?  I think my neighbour expects it straight away but in my experience it can take weeks and I am not sure if shes willing to do that :(

Thanks everyone.

btw Ramses's previous owners just handed him over to the lady and said shes welcome to him >:(
