I'd just like to say to anyone considering adopting an FIV cat. I knew all about Alfie's FIV when adopting him, I adopted him with my eyes wide-open, I have never and will never have any reason to regret my decision and I always knew in my heart that one day it might claim his life but in the six years that I have been honoured to have know him he has been the most loving feline friend I've ever had the priviledge of knowing. He has had an additional six wonderful, fun-filled, loving years that he might never have had otherwise and has repaid if that's the right word, the love that he has received a million-fold. He had a most dreadful start in life but from the first day that we met he knew that he was goint to be loved and that he had a proper forever home and that and the pretty unique bond we formed are quite simply priceless. So many happy memories of our time together will remain with me forever.

Hi foks,

I'm sorry that I've been a stranger to the site for so long.

It is with much sadness that I have to let you know that our dearest Alfie passed away at home this morning after a brief illness involving many trips to the vets and he had the very best of medical treatment available and some fantastic monetary support and loving kindness from Croydon Animal Samaritans the charity from whom I adopted him six years ago.

Those of you that remember Alfie through Purrs, his own website and "Letterbox" animations will know that Alfie had FIV and I like to think that he has given as much inspiration to others in adopting an FIV cat as he has given his love, joy and joy of life to Val and I. 

Alfie touched so many lives and in such a positive way and enriched my life so very much and his passing has ripped a large Alfie shaped hole in Val and my hearts but we can take comfort in knowing just what a real star he was. They say that "the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long" and Alfie burned so very bright and will be missed by so many.

We are going to bury Alfie tomorrow aftenoon, such a sad parting to such a truely faithful friend.
