Lukey you silly boy  :Luv:

Well best I can do for Memphis is 28" long ... he's teeny compared to everyone else  :evillaugh:

lay me down, let me go, feeling heavy the ground is cold,
lay me down take it slow I'm ready to stumble, sing & then swing low

Well I measured the laminate Jess was laying on and it came out at 118cm (don't know what that is in inches thoug  :P)

We have a new leader  :wow:

Lukey is getting quite jealous of all this 'long' talk so he has devised his own competition.... 'How flat are your cats?'.  Found him squished up under the parasol base  :evillaugh:

I've just had my other half holding a rather bewildered Nova while I tried measuring with the tape measure

A hunched up Nova is 34 inches, I dont know what a full length one is as he turned into a hedgehog and curled up trying to eat the metal tape measure at the same time :evillaugh:

What have I started eh?

Where were Milo's legs, it's an injustice measuring him without his legs  :evillaugh:  That pic of Jess looks like a contender, you could measure the strips of laminate and see how many strips of laminate he's equal too... or would that make you a seriously crazy cat lady  :evillaugh:

Well Milo in this picture measured 51cm and that doesn't include his tail.

Needless to say it was entertaining in our house with my family saturday when Milo stretched out and I shouted to Hubby grab the tape measure we need to measure then length of Milo for the purrs website.   This then prompted lots of chat over what Purrs is and how I'm a mad cat woman.

Jess was laid out like this saturday morning I managed to grab my phone to take a pic but not the tape measure!

I got the tape measure out and was met with a scathing look!  I just about managed to get a 'C' measurement from Helen's extremely useful drawing  ;D which was about 21 inches but I'm not going to even try to get the leg measurements.

We have a new leader  :wow:

Can anyone contest Nobo's championship?  :evillaugh:

Its not worth my life trying to measure Lexy. Last night she was in a mood. Hormonal problaby  :evillaugh:

But all I can say is that if looks could kill. I've been trying to clip her dew claws for ages and she just won't let me near her so any foreign object is suspect!! Even a measuring tape.

Hmmm, this is trickier than it first sounds  :evillaugh:. Fergus is refusing to stretch out fully, keeps pulling his legs in when I try to measure them and is only interested in playing with the tape measure! I managed: back legs 28.5cm + tummy 36cm + front legs 19.5cm = 84 cm. But I'm not sure this is correct as he wasn't fully stretched out  :evillaugh: Will try and pounce on him again later when he is least expecting it!

have you compared the formula results to your initial results helen?  we need to know that theres no bias going on here!!

Tried to measure him laying down - it's a 30cm ruler and as you can see he isn't fully stretched....

...he was having none of it  :evillaugh:

I believe you Helen - Beavis like it when Mr Kirst spins him around upside down on the laminate flooring! He flops next to him , has a good spin , gets up , circles him and flops again for another go!

I think its the cat equivalent of the waltzers!

No honestly, he really likes it  ;D  I don't even hold on to him normally, I just tuck my arms into my body and hold my forearms out at 90 degree angles to my body and he just lays there while we whizz round.  If he didn't like it he could jump down as like I said he's just laying on top of my arms... or maybe he's too dizzy to get down  :evillaugh:  :sneaky:

Ever the scientist eh Hannah  ;) A good point and well presented though, when he sits still I will do a control measurement  :sneaky:

Not all mirrors give a true reflection  :evillaugh:

It wasn't his reflection, I stood on the settee and pressed him up against the mirror.... oops, sounding like a seriously crazy cat lady now  :evillaugh: I'm sure he's part ragdoll, when he lays upside down in my arms he is so relaxed.  I often 'fly' him around the room so being pressed up against a mirror is nothing out of the ordinary for him  :evillaugh:

   poor cat

Dear Auntie Helen,

Thank you for saying I can take part  ;D I sometimes get called Slinky Cat because I am so long already and Mummy is getting worried as I keep getting longer and taller and I've still got 4 1/2 years to grow yet. When I am fully grown Mummy thinks my front end could come and visit you, Lucus and Riley and my back end would still be here  :evillaugh:

OK, maybe Pinball can play but definitely not Boopy or Bilbo  :evillaugh:

Helen... did you seriously think about that calculation? Why?!

I refer you to my previous post...  ;)

Before you say I have faaaar to much time on my hands I'm sat in waiting for Sky to come  :tired:

I'm bored and fed up of waiting for Sky, they said 8-1 but then the engineer rang and said 11-2, didn't cotton on that he'd extended the times they're supposed to come by an hour  :innocent: 25 minutes left and counting... :waiting:

I'm not sure your lot should be allowed to take part being NFC's  ;) I think Boopy alone will be longer than Riley and he'd hate to be beaten by a girl  :evillaugh:

**Snigger**  :evillaugh: Pinball is crying that you don't think he should be allowed to take part. He says he's only a baby so you have to be nice to him

So let me get this right, we're measuring from tips of the front pawsies to the tips of the toes whilst stretched out? Will have to attempt this once I get home later, I know Fergus is pretty long though, he looks like a draught excluder sometimes  :evillaugh:!!

Yep that's it ;D  Think Riley might have a serious contender to his world title in the form of Fer-gaseous the draught excluder  :evillaugh:

Mine keep moving when I try to measure them  :tired:

If I measure one of Pinball's front legs and one of his back legs and add them onto his body length (back of neck to base of tail) will that give me the same as measuring him stretched out?? If so then he is around 38-39 inches long.

I'm not sure your lot should be allowed to take part being NFC's  ;) I think Boopy alone will be longer than Riley and he'd hate to be beaten by a girl  :evillaugh:

If they won't co-operate with measurements then I reckon the following formula can be used 'armpit to tip of front paw' A + 'thigh to tip of back leg' B + 'the area where armpit begins on the back -----> the area where the thigh begins on the back' C = length of stretched out cat

Before you say I have faaaar to much time on my hands I'm sat in waiting for Sky to come  :tired:
