Hi everyone,

Just a little update..

We buried the little one today.

The sun came out for a couple of minutes while I looked at her little body for the last time, I cried, but I know she's happy, I knew she'd made the sun shine for me.

I miss her so much, I did get my tattoo today, I've been thinking about getting one for a while, but after this I knew it was the right time, I absolutely love it and it's so special to me, I've put a little print of it beside her in her box, a little piece of her is with me always now <3

A tattoo is a lovely thought, I have a pawprint close to my heart done after Ginger went, I did wait a couple of months to decide what was the best place though (and still only decided on the morning I was having it done!!).

I think a tattoo will be a lovely tribute to her, but agree with Lynn and BC that it might be worth waiting a short while to make sure you have the right thing done in the right location

I have the words 'Forever and Always, until Rainbow Bridge' translated into Hindi and tattooed lengthways along the side of my foot. Whenever I left the house I told Tiggy I loved her 'Forever and aAways' and we will be reunited at the Bridge so those words are very special to me

I agree with Lynn, a tattoo is for life. If you get the wrong thing or in the wrong place, your memories of missy may become distorted by you aggravation with yourself for making the wrong decision. Take your time, paint a picture of her, compile all your photos of her into a collage or do something equally creative. But don't get a tatt until you are in the right frame of mind to make a considered decision.

sarah the tattoo idea isnt daft but i would strongly advise against it so soon, it will not matter if you get it done in 2 months or 1 year but dont go rushing out and get it tomorrow.

Don't be daft you are not silly at all - I have a portrait of my Zak who was run over and killed, tattooed on my shoulder. He is with me all the time now. I think it is a wonderful tribute to missy.

Indeed well said. Sometimes employers are less than sympathetic because "its just a cat". We all understand these little ones aren't. They are our babies.

Sarah, all of our pets, our cats, our dogs, our horses, they are all part of our family. If you lost a relative you would not feel silly for grieving, and for many of us, our animals are so much a part of our family that losing them, particularly so suddenly, can cause just a strong and traumatic a response as you experienced last night. I sobbed for three days when my Reynard died. I could not go to work and my then-employers were less than supportive. I didn't care. I had lost the most important being in my life.

You can not blame yourself for Missy's passing. If a vet had been right there with you when the episode commenced, they would not have been able to assist, apart from making her last moments a torment of injections, pushings and proddings. You were with her when she went, and your love travelled with her to the rainbow bridge. She will wait there for you and you will be reunited with her, and you will enjoy the company of many more wonderful, loving animals through the course of your life.

Sleep well little Missy, and Sarah, we all care and are aching with you in your grief.

Not silly at all Sarah, at some point probably on the 1 year anniversary of Little Girl passing away I'll be getting two paw print tattoo's as she was big enough for two cats.

Missy will always be in your heart and a tattoo will be a lovely way to remind you of her. Just find a good artist, hopefully you know someone who's had one done.

When Lirael goes (may it be years from now) I'm getting the design that's on the Garth Nix book of the same name on my upper right arm.

That's a lovely tribute, it's not silly, do whatever you feel you want to do to, a friend of mine had a small paw print tattoo on her shoulder after her cat passed away!

You know I cant help feeling there was a reason Missy was with you..She came to you so soon after you recently lost your boy and now this has happened..perhaps she needed to be with someone who was going to take good care of her while she was here, and she had that with you and john.

I've been sleeping most of the day and John just woke me up to a gorgeous bouquet of flowers from all of you lovely people. Really brought a smile to my face, thankyou so much.

My heads a bit more clear now, we're going to bury her tomorrow in Johns parents back garden. I keep looking at her little body

It's such a shock and you feel so numb for ages and you just don't want to accept anything. I still can't after loosing Rio, still can't think of him at all yet. One day hun we will be able to think only wonderful thoughts and one day we will be with them again on the bridge, until then they will always be with us in our hearts forever.

I managed a chat with Sarah in the chatroom last night. Poor love in is terrible shock and I was concerned about her. Thank goodness she has her BF there... a very worrying and very upsetting time as Missy was only 3/4 months old.

Missy passed away in her arms at home after being taken suddenly ill. There wasn't time for a vet. A bowel problem was suspected.

I am so sorry, poor little Missy

I had a terrible scare last week, when I heard a cat - fitting the description of my youngest - had been injured or worse.
I couldn't find her at the time and just went to pieces; the thought that I had lost her was the most awful feeling ever.

It must feel unbearable for you now.
I imagine it's like losing a child.
