I am so sorry to hear your bad news, you are very brave posting about him. I suppose a cat that has always "talked" more than some do, will be missed in the normal way, but also because you will be listening for him.

You most definitely did the right thing by him, and he will be grateful for that. You were attentive to his needs to the end, and that is the what a good cat owner would hope to do, and you should find peace in your heart that you did.

Take care, and give the others a little extra fuss from all of us on Purrs.

Its good if they are not missing him cos they will then allow you to cope without having to worry about cats in mourning......I guess they have their own little way of dealing with things and as long as they have you , that makes them happy

On the whole, my lot are quiet, although Honey and BB are a bit more vocal than the rest. Jasper was very vocal

I'm not really noticing any difference in the others since Jasper went, maybe they think he's just away for a little while and will be returning, who knows?

I've just read through all your lovely messages again, in tears again but I do feel I did the right thing for him at the right time. Jasper was so scared when he first came to live here, having lived with Dot and Reg since a kitten, but it didnt take him long to come out of his shell (much to Harry's chagrin - they never saw eye to eye!). He had a peculiar sounding meow and it seems quiet now.

Jasper is a stunning boy and didnt realize he had been with you only 3 years. I am sure you must miss him terribly and will for ages but he will always be there watching over you and always with a pawprint in your heart

Thank you everyone for your kind words

- its just really hit me that he's gone. Its not quite 3 years since he came to live here with Zeta (some of you will remember their owner Dot died and Dot's husband Reg was poorly and couldnt look after them, so Jasper and Zeta came to me via their original breeder who bred some of my other persians). Dot and Reg had had them since they were kittens and absolutely doted on them.

Jasper and Zeta were quite close apparently when they were at Dot and Reg's, although here they really werent. Jasper always slept on my bed - I can only count a few times that Zeta has, but strangely enough last night she came and slept next to him on the bed - it didnt last for long because he went off on his wanderings, but she stayed in that same spot he always slept in, for the rest of the night.

Here he is a while back when he was looking quite well (he'd lost a lot of weight these past 6 months or so)

And here he is with Zeta, making a sandwich out of a very little Gwynnie not long after she'd arrived here!
