my vet has decided for mango he is going to do the operation , he said that he had to send her to the specialist cause he didnt have the equiptment to check all needed before it was decided she definatly needed the nostrils making bigger
he is confident she will be ok and said he doesnt know how long he will have to keep her , it depends on wether her airways swell
he did say that she will have a lot of bleeding cause they dont do the laser surgery in this country and she might have nose bleeds for a short while after when she sneezes ect
its awful , i dont know what shell look like or even if she has enough nose pad to cut away at but i do no she cant go on like this without trying
please pray she will be ok :(
-
Good Luck Mango :luck:
Lots of love and :grouphug: to Mango and CC :Luv:
-
Good Luck Mango!!!
-
Good news Sasha ;D
I'm sure Mango will be fine. From what I saw, its all external - or are they removing internal tissue?
I know from experience that it isn't painful - really - Its like having a bad cold for a while. At least a cat won't be trying to blow its nose :evillaugh:
So this coming Monday? ;D
I bet she will be out next day at worst once they know the bleeding is fine. They chucked me out as soon as I could walk stagger
-
Good luck! I'm glad she's getting it done sooner rather than later.
There are some pics of nose ops here - I presume that's the kind of thing she's having doing?

-
mark was it cosmetic
its simular to them pivs i think susanne , she hasnt got any injury just hardly any nostril just a tiny slit
-
Mine wasn't cosmetic. It was because I couldn't breathe on one side. They had to remove some of the sinus and some of the bone inside and straighten the sinus
-
Good news ;D I'm sure everything will be just fine but the boys will have their paws crossed for Mango on the day
-
Will be keeping everything crossed on Monday for Mango, great that she's having the op now which will hopefully solve all her problems
-
That's brilliant news she's having the op so quickly! ;D I'm sure she'll be absolutely fine but all of us will keep our fingers and paws crossed for her on Monday!
-
Fingers crossed for Mango on Monday. I'm sure she'll be fine.
-
Good Luck Mango sweetpea.
Sasha she will be fine. No good saying don't worry because I know you will, but she will be fine. I'll be thinking of her and sending lots of quick healing vibes.
xxxxxxx
-
Thats good! You will be able to vist her as its local, no driving either :wow:
Fingers crossed she recovers well.
-
Good luck Mango and try not to be scared, you will be able to breathe properly soon and then you can destroy that da birdy over and over
I will be thinking of Mango on Monday and I am sure you will be as scared as her but try not to let her know
-
That's great news. It will be a huge relief for all of you - most of all Mango - she will be a new kittie once she can breath properly - she may turn completely manic :evillaugh: :evillaugh: all that energy she will discover once the oxygen is coursing through her veins
-
Good luck - I am sure that not only will she be fine but she'll feel so much better after when able to breathe properly.
-
Brilliant !!!
I am sure Mango will do just fine (lucky thing , i have wanted a nose job for years )
Give her a big kiss from me
xxxxx
-
hahhaha i hae always wanted a nose job
-
Fingers crossed for her, am sure she will be fine, and hope it gives her a new lease of life.
-
i really do too , i would love to beable to play with her . At the moment i have to put her in anouther room when i play with luna cause she loves to join in but then has a hissy fit with her breathing
im not too sure what to expect about the results from her op , i got the report from the specialst today that they sent to my vet
it said that from all the test they have done they think that she would benefit greatly from the op but there is also some query about how long her soft palet is but it was hard to tell cause she was intubated !!!!! and if the op doesnt work then they will have to have a closer look at this
but they did say they have fingers crossed that it will be successful for her quality of life
-
Oh I do hope so
-
Paws crossed for Monday Mango, I'm sure you will be fine, meomys always stress
headrubs from Max :ahh:
-
:G: :O: :O: :D: :L: :U: :C: :K:
I am sure this operation is just what Mango needs to get her back on track. She'll be driving you nuts for years! :evillaugh:
Everything will be fine! :Luv: :Luv:
-
good luck tomorrow. Paws crossed that all the probs will be solved and that Mango'll make a quick recovery.
-
Good Luck tomorrow Mango and Sasha
-
Hope all goes well with the op tomorrow Sasha.
-
ohhhhh im scared , what if it goes wrong :-[
i know it sounds rather dramatic but my grandad died last yr and anna my 5 yr old crys constantly about it at least every other day , although i am a big believer in the spirit world and have explained to her that grandad is now well in spirit world and sees her growing ( shes very happy and calms down with this explanation )
well anyway we have 3 cats moomin , mango and little luna but although mango is very special to me and anna MANGO is very close to anna , she sleeps on her bed and anna feeds her and because she doesnt play because of her breathing probs anna spends a lot of time laying on the floor in front of her playing pitter patter games on the floor with her so mango can play paw tapping but not start chocking and if she does anna relises when shes getting out of breth and makes her stop and cuddles her for a while
so if anything was to happen to mango she would just cry all the time i know it
:scared:
-
Really hope it goes well tomorrow.
We all worry when any of our cats go in for a surgery, and I'm sure Mango will be in good hands and you'll be spoiling Mango like crazy very soon.
-
Good luck for Mango's op tomorrow. I'm sure it will go well and you'll have her home with you before long.
-
Don't worry Sasha, its quite minor surgery - nothing critical. She will be fine
You are doing the best thing - especially for Mango - she will have a new lease of life and be able to have a proper cat-life, running round and driving you mad in no time.
Good luck for tomorrow - not that you need it
-
:luck: for the surgery tomorrow
-
Good Luck, Mango. Hope it goes well. :) *Sends a huge fuss!*
-
Best of luck for Mango tomorrow. Must be a relief to finally have it done - I think she'll really benefit from the op.
Fingers and paws crossed for her here.
-
Good luck for tomorrow Mango, am sure you will soon be feeling much better :Luv:
-
Best of luck for today, hope everything goes well
-
:luck:
-
 to Mango, hope everything went OK.
-
Ditto
Hopefully we will get an update soon :Luv:
-
give the girl a go, Mark, she is probably still driving endless miles, and that is assuming Mango comes out of the anaesthetic quickly and does not have to stay overnight ... We are all rooting for you cosmic and mango
-
:wow: shes got a nose :wow:
she has had it done ;D and shes fine , she is already home and they have created 2 little nostrils , there not very big but the vet has taken away all of her nose pad except the bit in the middle . Apart from having tiny nostrils she has hardly any nose pad so it was quite a tricky op but the vet seemed quite pleased and she still has a lot of swelling yet
She has stiches and when she breaths blood is bubbling a little and she has had some little nose bleeds but the vet said that was to be expected
i was very scared going to pick her up i thought she might look a right mess but its not too bad and quite a relief to see some little holes there now
i hope the swelling goes down soon she is on pain killers and anti inflamms and has to go back thur , the only trouble is that she can lick her nose being a persian and that concerns the vet a little so i have to watch her like a hawk but really cant stop her doing this
shes breathing very well hardly making any noise and eating and happy to be home
i dont want to get my hopes up too soon yet cause the vet ses we cant tell how successfull it has been untill swelling goes down but i cant help feeling very positive for her future now and happy i made the decision and pushed for this doing
please pray its worked
-
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :yayyy: :yayyy: :yayyy: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
Excellent news Cosmic - it will be such a relief for you all. Fingers crossed that licking with that rough old cat tongue will hurt and that will discourage her!!
-
Great news Sasha - the worst is over. If she is breathing OK before the swelling goes down, I'm sure it will be even better for her over the next few days :Luv:
Well done for going the extra mile for her
-
its been a long yr with this prob , im so happy i could cry for her
-
Woo Hoo what great news ... so pleased Mango is back home and is feeling OK (if a little sore).
Fingers crossed she will continue to improve. xxxxx
-
Wonderful wonderful news, so happy for Mango ;D ;D
-
Wonderful news for you and Mango and hope she has a speedy recovery, now have that glass of wine and relax your little girls is on the mend and hope all goes well for Thursdays check up
-
Oh thats brilliant,
Glad its all over
Hopefully that will be the end of it now -
Give Mango a huge gentle kiss from me X
-
thankyou all :Luv:
-
That's great news :yayyy: I hope it makes a really big difference to her breathing and that she has no more problems.
-
Fantastic news :wow: The boys send her a healing head kiss each :Luv: :Luv:
-
shes drinking a lot is this normal after surgery :-:
-
yes I think that drinking is good for her but watch how long it goes on for and if she is still doing this in 24 hrs I would ask the vet.......havent seeen Lynn around for a few days cos she would know.
Maybe she got a bit dehydrated or was already.
-
ok gill , she has eaten but she has drank half a bowl of water and has it all over her chin and is laying next to it which is very unusual iv never seen her drink like this
ill be up with her most of the night . I have refilled the bowl to the top and then i can monitor how much more she drinks and tell the vet in the morn if im still worried
-
Yeay, glad Mango is back home safely and the op went well.
Hope you are worrying unnecessarily about her water intake!
-
That is a lot of water........ummmmmmmm maybe cos dont know how big the dish is. For her to be laying by it sounds like she is very very thirsty.
Lets hope she is not still like this tomorrow morning cos I would definately ring vets and do not want to set you off worrying but Kocka who was very many years older than mango, ended up with kidney probs after an operation.
I know my current vets put older cats on a drip before the ops to stop dehydration and kidney probs and I would hope that your vet used all the necessary precautions for Mango.
I also just wondering if now she is able to breath better it means that she also can eat and drink better and she is just doing some catching up.
-
I'm sure she is just catching up. Bearing in mind she couldn't drink all day and I'm guessing but maybe the body is tring to flush the toxins (anaesthetic) out. As has been said, if she is still doing it tomorrow, its worth a call but I reckon she will be back to normal drinking tomorrow.
-
Aww, I am so glad she is home and doing well, I wouldn't worry too much about the water at the mo, but you could always ring the vet to put your mind at rest. Fingers crossed the swelling goes down well.
-
glad you've got that over with, hope she is feeling ok today!
-
Well done Mango, wishing you a speedy recovery little one xxx
So glad that the op was a success, how is she today ??
-
hello all
mango was sick a few times in the night i think it was all the water she drank but today she is ok , i refilled water at 7am and she has only had a little drink and its 11am so i think she must have been a bit thirsty
i have to pop out as its annas bday tomorrow i have all her pressies but have to get her cards , i am going to see how she is when i get back but she looks well , i have cleaned her eyes and the dried up blood from around her nose and she seems quite happy although not her usual self , sh is holding her head up to breath but shes still swollen
she looks so cute wi her little nose :Luv:
-
So pleased the op went well, hope the swelling goes down quickly
-
I'm really pleased to hear her op went well ;D Hopefully this is the start of her new life running around causing mayhem in the house with Luna ;D
-
Great news :yayyy: Hope she continues to do well  for you
-
So pleased to hear the operation went well, and glad she's home with you now.
-
Shes such a little trooper. Can we see pics of her new nose?
-
 :cheer: So very pleased all went well, hope the swelling goes down quickly
Hope Anna has a lovely birthday tomorrow x
-
Pleased that the drinking excess has stopped, reckon she was thirsty but also discovered how much easier to drink it was ;D
I hope the swelling goes down quickly and Mango will be able to enjoy life to the full for the first time
-
Just caught up with this and am thrilled it is going well for Mango :Luv:
As well as dehydration, I bet the drinking was to replace fluids lost in the operation plus, yes, it must be easier to drink now.
-
How is Mango now? The vomiting might just have been a reaction to the anaesthetic. It will take her a few days to get back to her old self but I'm sure she'll be bouncing around in no time.
When Mosi had his op a few weeks he wasn't himself for a few days but he soon bounced back.
-
hope Mango's doing better? The vomiting could also be all the muck that she's swallowing. Hopefully that's easing up now too.
-
The vomiting could be all the discharge going down the back of her nose & throat during healing (speaking from bitter experience here  )
It should ease up over time. It does take 2 or 3 weeks to heal.
-
How is Mango today CC?
-
hello all , ha a manic weekend in the bar and now have flu :tired: but mango is doing great , she has healed really well , still has her stiches but she looks so cute with her little nose . I am going to get hubby to post a pic soon but didnt take one of her before . shes doing great she has had the odd funny wheeze but she is still swollen
-

-
So pleased she is doing so well ;D
Apart from the odd wqheeze , is she breathing OK?
Get well soon and pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee dont leave any germs in Purrs cos I dont have my flu jab till next week
-
I'm glad to hear she's doing well ;D Sorry you have the flu
-
Glad to hear Mango's doing well, give her a little cuddle from me :Luv:
Hope you feel better soon as well, flu is 'orrible
-
shes been running around tonight playing with luna for about 25 mins , flying off the tables up the cat tree and only had to stop once to catch breth and snort . Its amazing cause she wouldnt have lasted 2 mins before .
There both asleep now cuddled up . Im not sure were moomin is but shell be in for bed , its cold tonight
i am very pleased with mango but it still could go either way , we wont know for sure for a couple of months but its looking promising , shes had a lovely play today
i have flu but have to carry on cause have the ctas and the girls to sort out , i think phoebes getting it now cause her eyes are puffy today poor thing
********* I HAVE DROPPED 2 DRESS SIZES ..... YIPPPEEEE , just eating better , exercising on a night to dance dvd and of course running around at the back of the bar 7pm till 4am fri sat sun is helping too . Im back to a size 12 finally .....from 16 after having the girls , I was a 10 before but that will never happen
-
Looks like things are turning for you at last
If Mango is like that now, by next week she will be a new cat ;D
Glad everything is working out well :)
-
Thats wonderful and Mango is so much better than before ;D
-
Glad to hear she is doing so well.
-
well done mango and well done you, CC. I have concluded that aspiring to one's youthful weight is pointless. If I were to go back to 8 stone 12, I would look like a gaunt skeleton. As you mature, your body needs a few curves to fill in the gaps left by gravity ...
-
Thats brilliant news.
I remember when Issey had had her op, the best thing was seeing her being able to play.
Well done Mango xxx
-
Just finally caught up with all this , very pleased to hear it all went so well for mango sasha and yes the drinking post op wouldnt have worried me had i been around at the time to answer your concerns.
Looking forward to the pics ;)
ps very well done on the weight loss, i'm still struggling but determined to get there (again) just ordered myself a cross trainer excercise machine :scared:
