I have been out all day, got in about 10pm
Was just doing a head count before i went up to bed only to find LuLu is missing
Neither Hubby or Son can remember when they saw her last :censored: or if they let her out :censored: ( i always know who is in and who is out)
Have been out and called her, walked up and down the lane but no sign of her
Really worried coz its not like her to wander off anywhere.........
Just got to hope she is back in the morning :'(

Oh no - that's not good news. I'm sure in the morning (if you get any sleep) she will be sat at the doorstep wondering who locked her out. Or you will find her under the bed!

What a :censored: nightmare !!!!!!
I opened back door and she fell in ........couldnt walk on back legs, cut on her foot.....had quick look and all claws were badly scuffed
Rang my vet and got emergency number.....MOBILE SWITCHED OFF :censored:
Rang next nearest vet.....and again emergency number SWITCHED off
Rang Parkvets which is close, they said to bring her down......got there AND NO BODY WAS THERE.....rang their number and was on hold for 5mins
so rang another vets who said to come over ......20MINS DRIVE
anyway,
Yes she has been hit by car, They have kept her in and are putting her on a drip with some painkillers :'( :'(
Will do xrays in the morning

Oh and Son has just told me that Parkvets rang twice to see where i was !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well i have just rang them and told them what i thought :censored: cheek , NO one was there and then they didnt answer the phone :censored:
What has hit home is how hard it is to find an emergency vet in the early hours, If she had been on deaths door she probably would have died before i could have found a vet
I am so :censored: angry
oh and my vets is going to get both barrels in the morning....whats the point of an emergency number if the :censored: mobile phone is switched off
Right, I am going to bed....not that i will be able to sleep :'( :'(

Oh no that is disgusting re the emergency vet situation. That's the last thing you need when you are anxious and worried. Hope Lulu has a comfortable night and will be ok. :hug:

She is home :cheer:
No broken bones (although she wasnt xrayed ?!) , just bruising and a few cuts. She has quite a nasty injury to her foot, its more like a graze than a cut. She is walking very strange and only manages a few steps and then lays down.
She is very sore and finding it hard to get comfy and alot of tail swishing.
She is due to see my own vet on Wednesday.
I am so glad she is "ok" ......
You know its funny but i just knew last night when i couldnt find her that something had happened...... What breaks my heart is that she dragged herself home.....I wonder how long it had taken her.

I am to use Metacam for a few days.
She is upstairs, I bought her a nice bed today and she is in it asleep
I took some dinner up and she eat it but she does seem to be in abit of pain, hopefully she will start to feel abit better tomorrow

Having been through the whole horrible RTA situation out of hours I can understand how you feel. Glad to hear there were no really serious injuries and hope you and Lulu both recover with all speed.

Got up and Hubby had let her out in the garden, :censored: Idiot
She is walking but very stiff....at the moment she is sitting in the sun which is probably doing her good.
Just worried that she will go under the fence though :scared:

The vet situation at night is really bad and its time for pet owners to stand up and not accept the ridiculous stae we have got to. No idea how we do it though!
Hope that Lulu improves each day to full fitness , am sure the bit of sun felt good to her ;D

She is alot better and brighter today and is sitting on the window looking out.....but i dont think its a good idea for her to go out just yet, she is still stiff with her back legs.
She has a check up with my vet on wednesday.
I still cant believe what happened, I am just so glad that she is "ok" as i have lost 3 cats to RTA.
It has of course again raised the subject of "indoor cats" ........that was my first thought, "none of them are going out again" BUT i know that is not the answer, they would not be happy to be locked indoors.

Sue Paddysmum has a decent sized patio but I've already taken part of it for my OH so not sure if there's enough left for yours too. Just a thought :evillaugh:.

Yesterday he left the front door open.....I couldnt help myself and said "you wont be happy till their are all dead will you" :-[ He wasnt impressed with my comment and then i let rip with "well its down to you that Lulu got hit"
His excuse is we shouldnt have so many cats !!!!!!!
Well i :censored: manage, I always know who is in and who is out....I know roughly what time i last saw them.....and I manage not to let them out of the front door when i open it !!!

Just to rub it in, I managed to run the B&B for 2 years and still managed to keep them in. Basically, I warned everone on pain of death to keep the front door shut and watch none escape when they come in :Crazy:

My cats are normally indoor/outdoor cats but with Dino having the buster collar on at the moment, every other word I seem to say is shut the door and don't let the cat out, so I feel your pain!
Glad to hear you got her back home and hope the stiffness in her legs is starting to ease.
This thread has made me realise that I don't actually know what happens out of hours with my vet. I used to live in Burgess Hill, Sussex, and they were very good there. There were several practices and they had a good emergency system.
I'll have to speak to my vet about this and found out what we do here. Touch wood just never need to use it.

that is the worrying thing, it took me half hour to find a vet then about 40mins to get to the nearest emergency one !
Lulu is so much better today, still walking abit stiff but alot better.
We have an appointment at our vets tomorrow.
She has asked to go out a couple of times today but will wait till she has seen vets and is walking completely better

Poor Lulu, must feel like I do after doing a ballet class for the first time in months (this hasn't happened any time recently but the memories are fresh :evillaugh:), right boody sore and stiff and like you've gone ten rounds with a bus!

One of the reasons I will be driving 5 miles to the vet with Kylie tomorrow even though there is a vet next door. When they close, they close. Even with cats & dogs in, the lights go off and that's it. It's a pain getting to my vet and Kylie won't be happy but in the event they need it, they will be looked after 24/7

One of the reasons I stay with my vets despite the fact that I see a different vet each time (it's a referral centre with the general practice done by interns who are undergoing post grad training) is the emergency care. They provide their own out of hours care and are only 5 mins down the road. They have all the latest equipment and drugs on site as well as experienced vets who do the postgrad training and that gives me so much peace of mind. There is someone there all night and they will stay with a cat providing one to one care if necessary (when Magpie was there, the vet treating him didn't leave his side). I think the general situation nation wide is worrying. An emergency is, by definition, a situation where you need your pet to see a vet quickly and that last thing you need is long drives to out of hours vets and then for them to be moved the next day. If I'd had to do that sort of thing with Magpie when he died 3 years ago, I think he would not have made it as far as the vets.
