Title: Eartha & Ivy homeless! Owners moving into flat - pets not allowed. (Now in rescue in Cornwall)
Post by: Greenleaf Animal Rescue on August 28, 2012, 21:05:00 PM
We have two adult female cats in urgent need of a foster placement.

They are currently situated in Shipley, but we are happy to transport them to the right foster placement. A homecheck and veterinary reference is required.

Eartha & Ivy were indoor cats, but unfortunately the new girlfriend doesn't like cats and is requesting that the cats are removed immediately.

They are now being let outdoors despite never having been outside before. We are worried that the cats are not road savvy etc and are at immediate risk.

The owner contacted me to say they are desperate now as they are moving asap into the new flat together.

If anyone is able to foster two female cats at risk of being made homeless in the coming days please get in touch. They need to be fostered together until a forever home is found and will be rehomed as a pair.

Both cats are vaccinated, but will be assessed further in foster care.

For further information please email rehome@greenleafanimalrescue.org.uk

What a horrible situation, those poor cats being tossed aside like that  :(

It may be worth posting on the Animal Lifeline forum as they seem to work miracles with finding rescue spaces for urgent cases.

Get rid of the girlfriend is my advice. Love me love my cats is my motto.

How horrible the poor things. That must be so scary for them. Hope you find somewhere for them soon.

Exactly!

How could anyone do that to their cats? (Similarly, how could anyone demand that their new boyfriend gets rid of his cats?)

I think this title misleading, it should be cos new girlfriend hates cats!

I hope they get a foster placement soon! Surely the man can hold off until they do :-(

I also hope the man sees sense and ditches the girl... any man/woman who makes such a demand is imho someone who is rather unpleasant, which this guy will discover further down the line.

"judge a man's soul by how he treats animals" - believe me I've stopped dating men over my cats

Poor babies - what a shame they ended up with such a fickle, spineless pillock in the first place.  Any person who has made room in their heart for furrbabies should not bounce them just cos another person tells them to - you should defend them like you would your children.   heres hoping these wee souls get the loving home they richly deserve - and heres hoping that when the is eedjit and his 'girlfriend' split - he has ample time to reflect on the needless loss of the most loyal, loving creatures he once had in his life.

I contacted Greenleaf directly and they have emailed a reply saying that Eartha and Ivy are now in a rescue in Cornwall and if anyone is interested in adopting them they can pass on details to the new rescue.

Thanks for the update.  I've moved this from urgent section now, do you want me to keep in Cats needing homes section or to sorted?

Sorry Janeyk, I don't really have anything directly to do with this, I only wanted to know what had happened to the poor cats, and it is so frustrating when people don't let us know the outcomes of such cases, so I contacted the people who posted the original message. It looks like they are not keeping up with this thread so maybe you could contact them and see what they want to do.
