He is very friendly and purrs and was not bothered about my cats through the glass door at all
-
Bless him, has Sheryl taken him on to his final destination yet?
Hope everything goes well for him, would be nice if the person who is going to look after him joins Purrs to keep us updated on how he gets on :)
-
Oh wow, what a handsome chap!!!
I'm so so thrilled he's going to be loved and cared for ;D :Luv:
-
Just wanted to post a quick update on Navahoe
First of all huge thanks to JS (we got there in the end Hun) Pauline for all her help and to my good friends Jacky and Tim Bliss for giving this boy the chance he so deserves and taking him into their care. They are the breeders that my Bengals came from and also rescue, Navahoe is booked in at their vets on Friday for neutering and a full health check. His leg is quite badly twisted and the vet is also going to fully assess this.
He is a gorgeous cat and even after the stressful day he has had he was headbutting and purring his head off. When we put him in his new run he ate some tea, had a drink and then wandered into his heated sleeping compartment and found his fluffy bed - he looked so happy that it brought tears to my eyes.
He is not going to need too much socializing and the signs are that he will also be okay with other cats.
He will be staying with Jacky and Tim for a while until he is 100% healthy and the purrfect home comes along.
I can go to bed tonight with a smile on my face - knackered but very happy
-
His name keeps changing :shify:
This is such a lovely heartwarming story...I love a happy ending! :)
Thank god you lot were there to save this handsome boy ;D

yes she has I dropped him to her at 630pm she was about 45 mins away from where he was going so he will be snug and warm now
-
That's lovely to hear Sheryl  Well done to all involved and just goes to show that there are some excellent, caring breeders out there :)
He is a beautiful cat and hopefully Jacky & Tim can find him an excellent home where he can be a cat again :)
-
I have posted a quick update in cat stories - maybe someone could merge it with this thread ?
-
:thanks: Have just seen her update, he looks so much happier in the pics - not hard as he was crammed in a tiny cage in his previous 'home' but things are definitely looking uo for him! ;D

Yep, no probs - which topic do you want to be the main one? This one or the one in cats stories?
-
Don't mean to be pedantic, but what is his name???
I've seen Navejo, Navajo and Navahoe! :evillaugh:
-

Im not surprised you've fell in love, he's booootiful! :Luv:
-
Topics merged ;D
Sheryl - hope you will be pestering his rescuers for regular updates :naughty: Do they have his official pedigree name so he can be traced to find out how old he is?
-
He was born on 4th April 2005 Helen and was a champion when he was 6 months old - his original breeder gave up breeding some time ago, its a long and sad story which is why I am so over the moon at the happy ending.

Hi Hayley there a few ways I guess of spelling it Navahoe is an ancient Red Indian tribe, it may be after thats
-
Apparantly it means leader of the tribe?

Aww how lovely! :Luv:
It really suits him
-
he doesn't look in bad shape all things considered
-
When Pauline took him home for a couple of hours to wait for me to finish work she gave him a good brush :Luv2:
When he was put in his run last night the extent of his leg injury was clear, his back leg is badly twisted from where the break was never treated and he has quite a bit of muscle wasteage from being confined in such a small area, Jacky is convinced that he can be fully rehabilitated and I dont think he will have a problem eventually finding his forever home :Luv2:
-
that is great news sheryl considering pts was an option
-
  Loving knowing this boy is out of that titchy pen.

I tend to agree to I think he wont take long to re hab as he was quite chilled in my kitchen, he didnt mind beeing brushed either he is a lovely boy and I have no doubt he will make a lovely pet.

Navahoe was at the vets today for neutering and the vet is going to give him a good check over whilst he is under - he is going to have to be kept in quarantine for a while as he is very very congested and I am looking at trying to get some sort of sponsorship or donations because I think it only fair to help Jacky and Tim out a bit with the expense (not sure how to dot it yet though)
Will keep you all updated on his progress x
-
I thought something like that might be wrong with him, Sheryl. Do you think it's the extended amount of time outside in nasty weather?
He really is a sweetie, and I hope his neuter goes well and his check up doesn't find anything too untoward. Sending him a cuddle.
I also think sponsorship is a great idea.
-
I would be very happy to help with sponsorship for him hun. If ya could let us know the vets details and best way to send a donation for him. ;D
-
Hey Sheryl. How'd the op go?
-
Navahoes op went well and he had xrays and a thorough check up - the knee cap in his bad leg is smashed to bits and his other leg has got severe muscle wasteage so its going to be a lot of rehab to build him up slowly and strenghten his "good" leg. He is going to be on long term medication for his congestion, he is also going to have to stay in quarantine for quite a while - the vet says that he would not have survived the winter without medical intervention. He is hopeful that he can make a full recovery eventually.
He wont need socialising because he is such a sweet and loveable boy who just wants hugs and cuddles :Luv2:
If I ever met the woman who has treated him so badly I swear I would swing for her >:(
-
That's the bit I was worried about; that his health wouldn't have stood up to the cold weather. Glad his op went well, sorry to hear the poor lad has such damage to his legs (although not surprised, sadly) and hoping his congestion clears up quicker than expected. Sending him a cuddle.
-
sending lots of hugs to the poor lad
-
Poor boy - hope his health improves now he is in good hands.

Sheryl - I would like to help too if this is set up
-
Thanks so much Edd - I am going to get the vets details tomorrow x
-
Is that Jacky and Tim at Purebliss he's with Sheryl?
I'm soooo glad he is safe now. I can't begin to imagine how tiny his cage must have been for him to get muscle wastage from it :( I truly can't understand how anyone could treat a cat like that.
-
I'd like details too Sheryl
-

Small.....I don't understand how someone can not see how wrong it is either.
Great to see the offers of help.
-
Yes Lottie - he is at Purebliss :Luv:
Thanks Dawn - I will post the vets details tonight when I get home,
I am hoping ot go and see him soon but will probably need to wait until he is out of quarantine.
-
I got an Email from Jacky today and Navahoe has settled really well and is loving the TLC and attention, unfortunately he is not using his "good" leg very well due to the muscle wasteage but he is trying so hard which the vet says is good - I am going to see if a friend of mine who does Reiki can go and see him. Below I have posted what Jacky put on her Blog today - have to say it made me cry

Navahoe update
your heart goes out to this boy! He always comes forward from his bedroom for his breakfast but this morning he was struggling - he couldn't get his back legs out of his bed so he just kept coming, dragging his bed along with him - his bed didn't fit through the cat flap but he still kept trying.
Tim sorted him out and Navahoe enjoyed some attention being paid him - this boy just loves a cuddle/tickle/scratch.
Navahoe still doesn't use his good back leg as the muscles will take a long time to build up, but he keeps trying to stand on it to get a better view.
He is having L-lysine on his food daily and eats it no problem along with his prescribed medication.

poor baby

Sheryl
Would MRT be of any benefit for Navahoe's leg? Remember that Heather had someone round to give Mikey the therapy before the extent of his injuries was confirmed by the specialist.
-
Thanks Edd I will look into it

Reiki may help with easing any pain and also they may be able to alert to other problems be it medical or mental because of what he has been through. Hope your friend can help and also she could send distance healing to him until she can go and see him. Hope it is just what you are aware of medically and he continues to have a quality of life and it improves even more as his muscles begin to rebuild..

He's a lovely lad, most definitely. Just glad Jacky is caring for him and giving him the chance to come out of his shell a bit more.
