That is an awful letter to receive.
You might want to watch running the two to overlap, you could end up having probs if you tried to claim, as if it still comes under the M & S policy, they might try and refuse to pay cos you have cancelled.

When I spoke to AXA testreday cos of a typo I made ..........sigh. they said it still hadnt been spat out in their system but it depended on how many were going through.

I reckon Purrs people are clogging up the system

Milly did you do it online cos I think they different rates to over the phone.

If mine had only been £20 a year I would have stayed where I was but at £400 a year difference, noooooooooooo way  ;D

Gillian my £14 yr olds and they are  peds are £13+ a month less than with M&S and thats each!

So that is ummmmmmmm £26 x 12 =  over £300 a year..................why the hell didnt I do this before? Plus I saving another £10 on the other two so that another £120 a year.

I think I was being ripped off something chronic  >:(

Another good thing about the Axa policy is that 'oldies' pay the same excess as everyone else - £50.  With M&S it was 15% of the treatment cost over a certain age (think it was 8?).

Ooh, just got a quote for little Gwyn (4 months old) £68.73 per year with AXA, not bad! and just ran a quote for Zeta who is 14 and it came up £35 a year cheaper than M&S, can't move Jasper, who is 13, because of his CRF (2 claims made already! - one paid, one pending!) The others arent insured, I have a 'save a fiver' section in my purse, where all my 'spare' fivers go LOL!

I know, I don't think my bank account could cope with another bout of crf. Although I weighed up the odds when I got the Tesco's quote and it did work out better for me to have a savings account.

The savings account that's just helped insure the big cuddlebear for a year! I'm so much happier now and very grateful for the advice  ;D

FIV is actually the equivalent of HIV, not AIDS, they are separate illnesses in both humans and cats, and one doesn't necessarily lead to the other.
My policy for Molly with Sainsburys went up by about £4 a month I think, but I did get her on either 10 or 15% discount last year, so can't really complain - not looking forward to Tigers though!!
Glad you managed to get Josh insured CS, it is especially worth it with oldies.

All prices tend to go up a bit but M&S doubled them to pay for the losses they made with the NIL excess, so there is no reason for AZA to increase prices like that.

Also they underwrite Sainsburys insurance and theirs di not go up like M&S did.

What gets me about M&S is how they lied about the reason for the increase and they said all the others were going up a similiar percentage and that was not true. I wish I had realized earlier cos I wouldnt have been so broke all summer.

Flippin' eck that IS good. When I first got him, I couldn't find anyone other than M&S who'd actually insure him. I'm about to join the delightful Nottingham rush hour and go home but I'll have a look when I get there...

Well Sainsburys and AXA would give you a reasonable quote I think.

Axa are charging me about £9.60 each for my 14yr old birmans, it was £23+ with M&S

My Tesco's insurance on Smokey is about £6 a month. They seemed to charge more for him being Persian but didn't take in to account he's an indoor cat which I would've thought would make a difference to the nasties he's exposed to  (not starting THAT debate again, just in general from bad plants to cars to dodgy mice dinners). Strange. It was the cheapest I found anyway.

Josh isn't insured sadly. They wanted £25 a month for him. I put £20 monthly into an account for him instead in case he ever needs it. I'd rather the money went to better use (i.e. the Nook cats) if he doesn't.

Ouch - that's a bit of a hike in the M&S premium.  Axa sounds like the best bet at the moment.

Sorted, have cancelled M&S, and will be saving about £4 a month, which could be a new toy each month for my little darling monster  :evillaugh:

Still seems mad that there is such a price difference, the reason given by M&S is that they charge their 'fees' on top of the AXA quotes, so its going to be cheaper going direct.

Oooh, will read a bit deeper then, the t&c do look the same as M&S, as with the level of cover etc.

Thanks for explaining FIV Ela  ;D

I have just checked my M&S conditions book and if you pay monmthly and have made no claims you can cancel at any time  ;D

I am going to cancel now cos have got the quotes from AXA and just to do the two birmans is less than one of them with M&S and the other two are also about half the price , so that means about £36 pounds back in my purse and the terms and conditions as far as I can see are the same as M&S.

There is a 14 day waiting time for it to start but that will be covered by my other insurance for most of it.

Just checked on my M&S letter, was dated 5th October, but only just reached me .... must have been caught up in strike post from before ......... but you only get 10 days from date of letter to cancel the policy grrrrrrr.

Might try, but don't think I'll have a leg to stand on as I can't prove it.

....and you've guessed it, its gone up quite a bit.  From £11 odd at the moment to £15.41 per month.

The excess has also altered I believe, either first £50, or 15% whichever is the greater.

Having looked online though, it still seems to offer the best terms, i.e. £7,000 per year, so I reckon I'll still stay with them, for peace of mind should my boy ever hurt himself.  Even if nothing is covered if they can put it down to the FIV, the posts I've seen where puds have either swallowed something, or fallen off something have at least made me realise its still a worthwhile addition.
