I just wanted to let everyone know that Luc is now on the road to recovery he's eating and starting to act more like himself.

Thank you to everyone for their support and advise.  :thanks:

No they live in Cornwall so a long way from me. I received a text this morning to say he had eaten something. Just waiting to hear how it went at the vets.

Such an anxious time.  Is your dad living abroad?  Wonder if it's worth breaching IV treatment with the vet?  Sending much love and positive vibes for Luc and your Dad

He's still not eaten, but is a bit brighter today. They tried to give him some food with a syringe but he didn't like it. He's off to the vet again tomorrow so hopefully they will sort something out.

Yep, am also thinking intravenous fluids might be the fastest way to get nutrients into him while he's this ill.  Hoping there may be more positive news later today.

If he hasn't eaten for that long needs to be on a drip top get fluids and liquid food for a better word in to him as 6 days is way to long for a cat not to eat

Thank you for asking, I texted last night and he was the same and hadn't eaten. :(

Will contact this morning and see how he's going. I'm thinking maybe they should try to give him food in a syringe. As this will be 6 days without eating.

The vet seemed to think that it would take 24 hours for his temperature to come down after the injection so really hoping he will be feeling better today.

He's called Luc. They rescued him from Fuerteventura. Here's a picture of him a month ago when I was visiting, he kept me company on the bed.

Yes, it's so worrying when they can't eat - cats seem to lose weight so quickly when they're ill.  Please let us know how he gets on.  What's the little feller' s name?

Thanks Sue, it looks like a few cats are having a reaction to Advocate.  I've just read a post about a poor cat called Spike wish I hadn't now :'(

I've just phoned my parents and the vet said he has a very high temperature so has given him a jab to bring that down. They gave him some special food, so hopefully he will eat that. They don't know if it's the Advocate or a virus that's causing him to be ill. So he has to go back in on Friday if he isn't better. He's such a tiny boy, we think he's a siamese so really can't afford not to eat.

Yes, there are a number of documented adverse reactions to Advocate and there have been some Purrs members who've had problems.  Am on a kindle so not sure how to post a link but search "Advocate" on the forum and they should come up.  Am so sorry your dad's cat is so poorly and keeping everything crossed for him x

Bad reaction to Advocate
« Reply #1 on: June 18, 2014, 09:46:41 AM »
My Dad has just phoned me to say their cat is seriously ill. He thinks he's had a reaction to Advocate, he's eyes are only half open and he's been sleeping since he had it on on Saturday. He also hasn't eaten anything. He's a tiny cat so Dad says he's looking terribly thin. He's also been sick. They are taking him to the vets today but can't get him in their own vets till late this afternoon so are taking him to another vets at 11.

Has anyone heard of this sort of reaction to advocate or had anything like it themselves with their cats.
