she has decided to take the advice for a month when they have to go back for a weigh in and they are showing her how to clean teeth

I was amazed, wet food was suggested as for a treat only  :-:

they've even suggesting feeding from those ball things to make them work for the food!!

I've never heard of kittens being overweight

I think I'd be inclined to stick with wet food as well, dry was what made Maxy porky!!

I would tell them to ignore the vets advice, dry food puts weight on more than wet, and at that age, there isn't much to worry about, I would keep them on the same food and just get them to run about more.

That does sound crazy!  If they are on kitten wet food they should maybe change to adult and not dry....My curvy girl Lola prefer's dry!

the little tykes are settling in nicely but had a vet check on tuesday and were declared a bit porky!  wet food is now banned and on dry is allowed which is odd because my vet would say the opposite but there you go

Dawn, Taylor is 4 years old. He is with us because his owners moved away and left him behind  >:( and needs an indoor home as an only cat as when we blood tested him, we found him to be FIV+. He's very friendly and loves a lap to sit on although will give you a cheeky nip on the ankle if you ignore his demands for attention!  :evillaugh: I have a feeling once he's in a home though, this won't be the case so much, I think he just isn't keen on being in a pen and expects anytime someone comes in, that they give him their undivided attention! (Fair enough I think but of course he does need food and clean litter/ bedding!)
He's black and white and really very sleek and handsome.
Let me know once the home visit has been done- make sure the other branch give him the paperwork too! and then w can hopefully arrange a viewing if your friend is interested.

Dawn, now that she has been approved, she can go to any CP branch I'm told  ;D

If said branch's fosterers really are not responding, then it she can go to any other local branch  ;)

I really can't believe the length of time this is taking, our homing officer tells people while she is there whether everything is ok so they don't get left hanging around. They can then contact the fosterer to go and see the cat they are keen on and many have taken the cat there and then when they visit the fosterer. It shouldn't be this hard for someone who is obviously offering a brilliant home for a cat  >:(

Could Clare do it as a trusty? - I'm sure she is well up on what is needed - especially where FIV boys are concerned  :)

Would love to, but probably a bit too far from me to be honest.

However, if it would help for any prospective owners of this little man to speak to an experienced FIV owner, then I would be absolutely delighted to assist, if it could mean a wonderful home  :)

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

she has passed her home check, she now has to wait for a foster person to contact her - its like pulling teeth, anyway I have told her that there are other options should the kittens she is interested in have gone by the time the foster person calls

I wish I'd just asked here first to be honest, I know purrs people don't like to pull strings but if cats get rehomed I don't see the problem - don't suppose anyone has an indoor only for a priest in uxbridge!!

We have an FIV+ lad in care at present. Still assessing him so can't tell you too much but if said priest would travel and could get his local branch to do a HV then we would home to him no prob. We would need him to organise for his local branch to do the home visit though as it's too far for one of our volunteers to be expected to travel.

I think this has taken longer as its possibly cross branch, but even though it shouldn't be this hard  :tired:

So pleased she's passed anyway, that must be a weight off her mind

if it doesn't work out I would be happy to vouch for her suitability to any purrs rescue - she really wants a rescue cat (well two actually) and I'll do everything I can to help her out on that one!

I had to wait over a week for a homecheck from local RSPCA and had already chosen Freddie.  So OK I'm unreasonable.  As far as I was concerned he was my boy and they were preventing me from taking my boy home.  Having just lost Aslan, I was in no mood to hear the excuses about lack of homecheckers  :innocent:.  To have already performed the HC and leave someone dangling like this is not good. I do so hope she doesn't end up homing from other than a rescue as a result.  Stories like this must be so painful and frustrating to hear for people in rescue.
