We live in a three story townhouse as well!

Ours has blooming spiral stairs, though.

My bits are all very black and blue, but not hurting quite so much, thanks for asking.

I am quite dubious of the stairs at the moment, which is difficult when you leave in a three storey townhouse but never mind.

Yes been there and done that twice. Both times down to Gandolf RIP running past me as I went downstairs, it was his game. The last time, I actually felt Gandi's fur for a split second and thought I had hurt him. Horrible feeling of shock to system stopping me moving for a while so couldn't get up to check on my boy, just started to cry at bottom of the stairs (not me at all) and shout for OH. Gandi was fine thankfully. Hope no lasting damage to bum, back or foot Lesley

Fingers crossed the pain doens't last for long. Last time I slipped on the stairs, I had a litter tray in my hand to set up a cage in the front room - took me ages to retrive pellets of wood litter that were scattered, I Think i was finding them in random places for ages!!

glad I'm not the only one who does this - I ended up with carpet burns on my elbows and an extremely painful coccyx for a couple of months after - made sitting on the train an interesting experience, I can tell you. Hope you are feeling better now and that there are no longterm effects ...

That was what it was like when I did it the first time with the puppies in my arms. I was just determined to keep them safe, no matter what happened to me. They suffered no physical injuries but Bilbo will never tackle stairs up or down and Frodo can go up but he won't come down on his own, I still have to carry him. You think he would be put off being carried on stairs for life.

This time, in the slow motion bit, all I worried about was that the cats would get out of the way which obviously they did with me thudding down the steps.

Ouch!

I went from head to toe of our cellar steps a couple of weeks ago. I'd gone down there to get a trap. During that slow motion bit, where you know you're going down but there's nothing you can do, all I could think of was would I damaged the trap when I landed.

When I was about 8, I had a climbing frame at home which had a ladder running across the top of it ...... one day I was walking across the top and my foot slipped, so I ended up straddling it 6ft off the ground .... that was a pretty impressive bruise

Many moons ago because I am such a soft

, I got up in the morning and so my dog didn't have to walk down the stairs, I carried him and slip from the top to the bottom, dog still in arms and a very sore rear

Not something I would do now in a hurry

Hope you are soon feeling better, I know the pain something like that can cause. Many, many years ago it was icy and I foolishly walked round to mums next door but one with my slippers on. I slipped on her path and hurt my coccyx. I needed 3 weeks off work as I would only walk like Gaylon from Planet of the apes. I could manage to get up stairs but not down without great pain (it could have been the other way round) even now years later I cannot sit on a hard seat for long.

Was coming down the stairs at five this morning to feed Cornelius and Kali, slipped on the first step cos I was half asleep and didn't turn the light on, and bumped my way down the entire staircase on my backside, landing at the bottom in a heap and calling for Michael to help me.

After initial nausea and shock of it (I was definitely awake now) I am left with a very bruised and swollen bum, grazes on my back and a painful foot.

The daft thing is that it is not the first time I have done it. Four years ago, fell down the full flight of stairs whilst carrying my two puppies downstairs. That time my entire backside turned black, I damaged a nerve in my leg and have not been able to feel the toes in my right foot since.

Maybe cute and cuddly babies should come with a health warning label.
