Title: The Supreme
Post by: Corporal Smokey on September 22, 2008, 14:49:33 PM
Who's going this year? MrsR and I will be there, hopefully with a stall for Ashfield Cats.

Are any other CP bods on here having a stall? I don't think our branch has done it before so any advice would be gratefully received!

Otherwise, see you there!

I'll be there too, all being well. :ok:

Ely & District CP will have a stall, but I'm not involved with that - well, apart from some of the stuff on there. I'll be lurking in the Household Pet section of the show. ;) You're all most welcome to come and say hello. :hi:

Am looking forward to putting faces to names for those I haven't met yet and meeting again those who I already have. :agree:

I don't have a Purrs badge  :( but I'll mostly be wearing CP garb and cooing over blue kitties  ;)  :Luv:

Edited to add:

Just found out that our branch doesn't do anything at the supreme. I've offered to help CatChat if they're doing anything. If not, I am ready and willing to assist any branch who wants to borrow me! Just let me know  ;D

Amy, just come and enjoy the show; meet people and cats and do a dollop of shopping.  :)

It's poo about your branch not doing anything. I think our stall is fully manned, but will ask if you want?

I have a Purrs badge, bought it in the shop last year. However, we found it was kinda hard to read / spot them. Maybe we could just make a bright purple one with a big yellow "PURRS" on it instead?

I am perfectly happy wandering and purchasing, I just didn't fancy the idea of some poor volunteer lumped on a stall all day long without their own chance to have a wander.

Maybe nearer the day we can set up a rendezvous point for a sneaky Purrs meet up  :shify:

Is anybody from the NW going? I won't be able to drag my oh and none of my friends are cat mad like me so i'll have nobody to go with. Don't fancy driving down and wndering round on my own. :tired:

I was desperate to go last year but couldn't go in the end. If anyone fancies it i am happy to pick people up on the way round Manchester way or leave my car at theirs and go together  :)

If anyone in the nottm/mansfield area is interested i can get a 29 seater bus for the NEC, cost would work out at £9 each , would save on parking (which is £8 per car) plus i would be driving so you would arrive all nice and erelaxed ready to spend all your cash on pressies for the furballs ;Dif interested please contact me asap

I think Birmingham would be a bit extreme to go for some cat toys, I'm mad but not that mad  :evillaugh:

Is there something similar in London? Don't tell me, I missed it! Anyway, I'd be up for a London one or surrounding areas, easily accessible by train etc.

You've clearly never been to the Supreme if you think there are just "some cat toys"  ;D  Anything and everything you could want for your cat (or cat related thing for yourself) is there.  Well, pretty much.  Puts the selection of cat toys at PAH to shame.  One of the main things I like to go for is food that I cant find anywhere else (on special offer too).  Last year I got lots of flavours of bozita that have not turned up on zooplus yet and some flavours of almo nature that I can't seem to find anywhere else either.  Evangers also.

There used to be the National in London a week or 2 after the supreme but I seem to recall someone saying it wasn't going to be held at at Olympia (think that's where it was) this year?

It seems that the National this year will be a scaled down version and is to be held at Bracknell

http://www.nationalcatclub.co.uk/tys_main_frame.htm

I think it has always suffered with being so soon after the supreme, in terms of exhibitors selling out of stock at the supreme etc.

The Supreme is really worth trying to get to if you can.  Unless you aren't fond of cat shows and know you will be upset by the sight of cats in cages, it really is a great day out and there is just so much stuff to buy plus lots of special offers and freebies.
Title: Re: The Supreme
Post by: Feline Costumier on September 24, 2008, 21:15:20 PM
I would love to go but the expense of getting there and back (I don't have a car) plus whatever I'd want to buy, I just don't have the spare cash sadly, then there's the trying to get the goodies home, I'd look like a sherpa  ;D

Maybe I'll go to the one in Bracknell, that is if the sports centre they are holding it in isn't miles from anywhere! They do have cat agility though which sounds curiously interesting.

I am hoping to go if I can get cheap rail tickets from Newcastle. I went to the National last year and enjoyed it but everyone says the Supreme is much better. Would love to meet some of you peeps, I've never managed to do that yet although I did meet the lovely Pearl last year at the National  :Luv2: The only problem I have is my niece's baby is due on 23rd so I'll have to hope she has him a bit late
Title: Re: The Supreme
Post by: Reynard on September 24, 2008, 22:24:16 PM
Jennifer, the NEC complex is right next to Birmingham International rail station. Hence should be accessible by train / bus.

The Supreme, for those of you who are show virgins, is pretty well much the Crufts for cats. There are typically around 1500 cats in competition (pedigree & household pets) and on exhibition in club row as well as loads of trade stands and other stalls including those from various branches of CP. It's pretty well much the biggest event in the UK showing year and well worth visiting at least once.

The National used to be held at Olympia, but as of this year will be held in Bracknell. This year the National clashes with the Supreme - it's a week later, which given the 13-day rule, has left exhibitors having to choose whether to do one or the other. For me and a lot of my exhibitor friends it's a no-brainer - we're Supreme-bound.

BTW, the pens at the Supreme are twice the size of those at a normal show so there's plenty of room for the furry ones to slob. These are usually tarted up with posh drapes to show off the cats to their best and each year there is a theme to the show and a decorated pen competition. This year, the theme is "Magic".

Also, on club row, you can meet & greet the many different breeds on exhibition and talk to enthusiasts of the breeds. I have one friend with a Ragdoll on exhibition and another friend with a rescued Sphynx.

Oh yes - and musts at the Supreme is a packed lunch (concessions are a bit  ) and a pair of comfy walking shoes.

The show opens at 10 am to the public and judging starts a little before then.

For the NEC get to Birmingham New Street and get a train to Birmingham International (they are very frequent throughout the whole day). It just takes 9-10 minutes. Follow the exit signs (up some stairs). Then take a right at the ticket area (don't go left or you'll end up in the airport ). Then follow the walkway, down the escalator and voila.

Parking at the NEC is £7.

Unless you have a blue badge like moi in which case it's free  ;D  I had no idea you had to pay to park until someone on here mentioned it last year

I parked in the exhibitors area last year.  Don't know whether that's where the disabled parking is now or whether we just got there so early it was assumed we were exhibitors

Is that the same as last year?  I preferred it when they used to be in 18, 19 and 20 (is that what they used to be?) - gave it a bit of an L shape iirc.  Oh well, minor point!

I'd offer transport assistance but I'll be doing my usual twilight run to Preston to pick up my friend and then zooming down the M6 to get there ridiculously early so that we have to hang around for a while twiddling our thumbs cos even the coffee shops aren't open that early  ;D  I am totally paranoid about getting there late after several bad experiences with car park stewards and nightmares driving round and round while it got busier and busier.  Having said that, it used to be the same weekend as the Good Food show (or was it the clothes show?) and that was one of the reasons for congestion around the car parks.  It seems to be earlier again this year (like last year) so I'm assuming it will no longer be the same weekend and will be less busy than it has been in the past.

I booked my parking in advance with my ticket and it was £7 - £8 on the day but then in the confirmation it says paying for parking doesn't mean you'll get a space anyway so not sure why I bothered!  How early can you get there Susanne??
Title: Re: The Supreme
Post by: Susanne (urbantigers) on September 26, 2008, 09:03:28 AM
As early as you like, Dawn!  I was there by 8am last year.  Doors to the show halls open at 10am but you can get into the NEC building sooner than that.  Cafes tend to open at 8.30am I think.  We were particularly early last year because traffic was light and we had an uneventful journey there without any roadworks etc.  We always aim to get there early then go and get a coffee and some brekkie and have a good old natter.

Yes, it's the same as last year. You're probably thinking of halls 3 & 4 where the show was in 2006 and in other years previously.

Yes, it used to be the same weekend as the Good Food Show - in 2006 the queues to get in and out of the venue were pretty bad. Last year the show was brought forward a week to avoid clashing, but this year it has been moved back to the traditional third weekend in November, once again to avoid the clash.

As an exhibitor, I aim to arrive around 8 am (it's hit the road at 5:45 am!) to give me enough time to get myself sorted out; vetting-in, toilet stop, pen dressing etc before judging starts.

The thing is, the Ely CP stand could be anywhere in the hall. The first time I went to the Supreme in '06 it was right by the household pet section, whereas last year it was right at the other end of the hall... :Dont know:

Lurking around in the household pet section seemed to work reasonably well last year although I think I missed a few folks while I was doing a dollop of shopping.

Pre-show nerves are really starting to kick in now...  :waiting: :what: :faint:

I am definitely coming again this year!

God, thinking of the Supreme makes me think of just how many purrs people have met my ugly mug  :evillaugh:

The Supreme is fantastic, we got there for the start last year and still didn't see everything. There are fantastic shops and stalls for cat food, toys etc, and some fantastic Cats Protection stalls for all kinds of cat kitsch stuff (I have a really cheesy but great cat cushion from last years  :evillaugh: ) I got quite a few good freebies last year too, I came home with bags of new food and all the cats (Lucas too last November  :Luv2: ) had a taste test panel, it was great!

It would be fantastic to have ameet up again this year, pink carnations all round I reckon! I have a cheesy homemade badge that says Cheesecat on it so maybe i'll wear that  :sneaky:

Well, now that I am emigrating and not shipping anything other than the cat it would be wholly unwise to go to the show and buy lots of stuff I most definitely don't need now!

I removed my photo from the gallery  :innocent: I might take a photo to put on here, only if others do though!

Actually my IKEA photo is on here somewhere

I will be wearing grey leopard print jeans and possibly bright red cardi so might stand out quite a bit anyway but who knows! Its terrible trying to describe yourself. All I can think of to say is that I have longish black hair  :shify: Phil is coming with me, he shaved his long blonde hair off quite drastically for Children in Need so if you see someone matching my description with someone who looks like they might rob a bank that might be us!

I think I have also convinced Ali (NotSoKittyNewbie) to come too - yay!  ;D

I love the bag Dawn! Is it the one at the top? I might bring my Catchat bag then (The senior kittizens rock one  ;D )

Dawn - can't remember who told me the rule, but something like you can't advertise you are going to be showing - tried to check gccf site but you have to pay for a rule book and I don't care enough to do that!  I'm sure somebody on here told me although having said that I do know that somebody is showing so not sure now   :-: :-: :-:

Alison said... that Den suggested .... :evillaugh:  Wetherspoons at 12.30 so I hope there is one.  The floor plan shows restaurant & bar all down one side in the hall but I wonder if the Wetherspoons pub she means is the Atrium which I assume from googling is just outside the halls?  I know I live in Brum but last time I went to NEC was to see the Police which must have been well over 20 years ago so don't rely on me  ;D

Tickets for Adults £9 each, parking is £7 if you pay via the nec website or £8 if you buy on the day.

Cheapest might be Train? Or National Express coach?

You're not alone feeling like that Dawn  :scared: :shy: but, as I live in Brum, I might not be allowed back on this site if I didn't make the teensiest effort when others are coming so far. Really want to meet everyone  :) but it's also scarey  :scared:

Ok, so unfortunately I won't make it tomorrow, Debsymiller has told me about a cat adoption open day in Croydon tomorrow, so me and R are going cat-spotting.

Have a great time, and hopefully we'll all come back with lots of stories & new pictures... and maybe new additions too. x

Sorry guys I won't be able to make it tomorrow  :( been checking out the pennies and am a bit skint cos it's not pay day until next week and I was away last weekend seeing my new great nephew and of course been buying loads of stuff for him  :evillaugh:. I didn't plan very well for train tickets etc cos I wasn't sure when baby was going to arrive and they are now quite pricey. I will deffo be there next year tho, might look into going down day before and staying overnight cos it's a very long day if you do it in one from Newcastle.

Have a good day everyone and I will look forward to meeting you all next year - remember lots of photos and tales of spending

I'm going to visit one of our fosterers over the weekend to do some kitten cuddling and socialising of a couple of our more fiesty smaller residents so at least I will be doing something cat related  ;D

I'm back ;D

Had a wonderful time after a good journey there. It was freezing in Birmingham :-:

Den and I immediately made a b line for Witty and Pearl. Wow the pen was absolutely amazing :wow: Will let Witty tell you the results :shify: Pearl is just so gorgeous and the highlight of the day was a cuddle with her. Whilst we were chatting to Witty Rosella  turned up. It was just so nice to meet her and Witty. The three of us then left Witty and after a drink looked round the ornamental cats. We wanted to catnap several :evillaugh:

We meet the others at Weatherspoons which was so exciting :wow: It was so nice to put a face to names ;D
Rosella has taken lots  of pics and will post them later.

Den, Rosella and I then did a bit of shopping. got a lovely feathery toy for Archie and a plug in Feliway that was only £14 :wow: Den and Rosella bought more than me.

We then looked around the other pens, Gill the Birmans were wonderful. Saw most breeds inc. Sphinx :wow:

Arrived home feeling very tired :tired:

It was wonderful meeting everyone and putting names to faces.

I loved the cats as well .......... really am smitten with the apricot and red point Siamese  :Luv: :Luv: I honestly am in love  :Luv2: Also with the Oriental Longhairs  :Luv: Not forgetting the NFCs who are simply gorgeous!!!!!! and the Maine Coons!!!!! Really want to know who wins the show.

Pearl is GORGEOUS!!!!! She's so cuddly and soft. Witty should be very proud (which I know she is!).

I am exhausted though so time to have a rest and put my feet up

OMG, the pressure!!!!!!!!!!  I've forgotten who everyone was so you'll just have to shout up with piccie number and I'll amend this post as necessary (I really am so embarassed but I swear someone stole what little memory cells I had about 8 years ago  :-[)

I got him that cat-it thingy and it's a hit, he loves it!!

Is this the thing I realised I was practically QVC advertising at the meetup?   I went back to that shop later on and realised there were none left and wondered if any purrs people bought them  :evillaugh:

I had a wonderful time today, stayed practically until the end and spent toooooo much money. We had the usual taste test panel of foods when we got in  :wow: I think the cats christmas presents are sorted though  8)

I really enjoyed looking at all the burmese and siamese  :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2: cats - I want a meese even more now! (Phil says no!) there were loads of cats that reminded me of Fizz and Erick who we fostered, they were melting my heart! I love looking at the household cat section too  :Luv:

It was wonderful to put some purrs faces to names and meet some people I have met before. It was lovely to see the gorgeous Pearl too and meet Witty again - her pen looked fantastic it was really impressive. We watched Pearl being judged (I took out my comment cause realised its perhaps a bit mean on the other cats  )

I think I beat last year for free samples  :evillaugh: we got some science plan, almo nature, gourmet pouch, JWB, Purina one, burns, some organic cat food, hi life pouch, thats just what I remember!

Oh god, I can't believe I missed you all (although given that someone was camera happy, maybe I'm relieved!).  Didn't realise you were meeting at wetherspoons.  Didn't read this thread properly.  I don't think I would have had time to meet there tbh.  I did walk past the household pets and I saw Pearl!  But no witty or anyone else.  I'm knackered and bought way too much to carry home on the train (thank god for helpful porters).  I've spent a fortune and I think I bought one of those catit things you are talking about  :P  I will type more when I've got some wine inside of me and stopped Jaffa and Mosi fighting over the most innocuous looking toy that I bought for them.  They are obsessed with it.

It is correct they do best in show and then best kitten in show?

If so I may be able to shed some light!

There was a British Shorthair and a Lilac point Burmese on stage when I was leaving, I saw them ask people to clap for the one they wanted etc and then they announced the Burmese had won. I think that was best in show as it was around 4.30 ish on the main stage and they'd spent ages judging them.

What an exciting day!!

It was great meeting you all :)

I was a bit run ragged helping my friends.  Candyman (my friend's cream and white bicolour persian) won best persian neuter and was pipped to best overall neuter by the overall winner the Maine Coon.

I am absolutely shattered and I'm off to another show tomorrow!  I think I may need my head testing! :evillaugh:

Phil thinks he spotted you Susanne

Why didn't he stop me then?!!  ;D  I was on my own for a lot of the time cos my friend got the train down to join me but had to leave earlier than me so wasn't there for the full day.  I kept myself busy and still didn't see everything I wanted to see, but I would have liked to have said hello to a few people!  I kept looking out for you, Dawn.  I know there are a lot of people there, but I can't believe I didnt' see you.  It's not that big!  You'd think that I'd have spotted you at some point!

I had a fab time but I am really knackered now.  I watched some of the Somali and semi longhair judging this morning, chatted to a somali breeder I know (who bred Mosi's mum), had a cuddle of a gorgeous fawn somali kitten and generally saw lots of gorgeous puds.  Unfortunately, I didn't get my usual place for the judging of the supreme cats (I usually get right in front of the stage, sat on the floor) so had to watch that from a distance and standing up.  However, that did afford me the opportunity to nab my bargain of the day (and my xmas present to myself) - a book on cat genetics reduced from £42.99 to £15  ;D

For the boys, I bought 16 cartons of bozita (would have been more if I'd had the car), 24 pouches of almo nature, 10 tins of almo nature, a 400g bag of applaws dry to try, some salmon mousse pouches, some fish oil and fishy treats, some feliway (for Jaffa's little problem  ;)), some viacutin, a rod toy, a yeow catnip toy, a small furry toy that Mosi is going mad for and now Jaffa is fighting him for  :shify:.... I think that's about it, but I'm sure there is more I've forgotten.  A few free samples but I didn't do as well as I normally do for freebies.  I wasn't really looking out for them as I knew I couldn't carry too much.  Oh, I forgot.  I got the catit senses toy.  But not the track bit that everyone wanted.  I also saw it early in the day and decided to go back for it.  When I went back they were sold out :(  I got the scratch pad bit and am going to get the rest for them for xmas.

I really struggled to carry it all to the train station.  It's a helluva long way from hall 18 to the station!  I'm sure there must have been trollyes or something somewhere?  I didn't see any.  Fortunately when I got to the station, I was rescued by a porter who helped me onto the train and the guard helped me off and found me a trolley.

I think the maine coon won?  I say think, because I didnt' ahve my usual ringside seat and when they introduced the 3 supreme champs, I headed off to collect some stuff that had been put by for me in the hope that I would hear who would win.

ETA - they do best adult, best neuter and best kitten (7 best of variety winners in each category) then the 3 winners of those categories go head to head for best in show and the title of supreme exhibit.

Had a lovely day today and really enjoyed meeting up with everyone.
All the cats  were lovely and wanted to take loads of cats home especially the Maine Coons and some of the orientals.
Bought loads of cat food including a sample of a trial run of Applaws dried which I was told is a complete cat food and should be officially out in February.
On getting it home the cats loved it, scoffed the lot and asked for more

I agree Susanne. It's a hell of a walk to the station. People kept telling me there is a mono rail but I didn't see anything.

Well I was very good and just bought a fabulous furlined red tunnel that has just been rolled by someone into the middle of the hall and currently occupied by Noni B with Freddie & Billy waiting; biding their time ..........  Nice surprise to find a sample bag of Applause dry chicken food (80% chicken) at bottom of bag which all 3 polished off with gusto in a flicker of an eyelid

Pearl was a real star, the old Hollywood kind. Sort of gave all she had for her audience  :wow:

My first cat show. Surprised how much I enjoyed it but a lot was down to excellent company  :)  Den and Alison kept me company.

I am now officially besotted with NFCs and Maine coons. Either/or suits me just fine, they are truly spectacular creatures.  Think it might have been Ruth mentioned the one with the head the size of a wild cat. He was awesome  :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

Unfortunately Dawn F couldn't come. Hope Amber is OK.

Just saw your post Sally so completely concur with fab Maine Coons and delicious Applause dry food

I haven't managed to have my leisurely look at my purchases yet cos Mosi was wrecking the bags so Ive had to put them away.

I'm glad everyone had a good time.  Did anyone see the somalis?  Unfortunately, somalis dont' really sell themselves that well when they're in pens.  I never think they look as special as I know they are when they are in their pens, if you know what I mean.  They are best seen in a home environment where you can see the bushy tail, feel the silky fur and appreciate their personality.  They don't have the instant wow factor that the maine coons have, as they are moderate in their size and appearance, and as the coonies are always nearby, they tend to get overshadowed.  I did see a very nice silver though.  And the somali breed talk in the afternoon had a gorgeous 4 month old fawn kitten that anyone would have fallen in love with  :Luv:  I do sometimes wish I'd shown Mosi.  He wouldnt have done brilliantly as his nose is too straight, but he'd have had some success and his vibrant red colour would attract attention to the breed.

Looks like Pearl did fab as deserved  :Luv: :Luv:

Was that in club row, Ems?  There were 2 - brother and sister - in a pen there.  But during the talk at 3.15pm, the fawn one (boy I think) was involved and was very chilled out, really enjoying being stroked and cuddled.  The woman doing the talk said that it was his first show (would account for being a bit scared earlier) and that his sister had just left to go to a new home in Edinburgh.  He was certainly relaxed and happy during the talk.  I had a stroke of him and he was gorgeous.  Was he on his own when you saw him?  Maybe he had just been separated from his sister?  :(

They are best seen in a home environment where you can see the bushy tail, feel the silky fur and appreciate their personality.

Having met the gorgeous Mosi man in his home environment I would definitely agree with that comment! I think thats the one downside of meeting cats in pens, like the Devon Rex cats or the big fluffy Persians, I would love to know what they feel like but sadly can't touch! You can't really see a cats personality when they are confined to a small space either. Thats not to say I didn't REALLY enjoy doing my fair share of cooing at every cat I saw  ;D

Phil said he saw you and turned to me to ask if it was definitely you, but when he turned back he couldn't see where you/your lookalike had gone! It is a real shame we didn't bump into each other, I did try looking arounf when I wasn't engrossed in shopping or cats, its weird really because I kept seeing the same set of random unknown people over and over all day but didn't see you!

We got 16 of the Bozita too - ours love the pate, we bought a bag of Burns to try too - judging by the taste tast ours LOVE it - bargain of the day was buying 1.5kg of this dry food with high content of fish - should have been £10 normally, show price of £5 and the man sold it to me and Ali for £3 as he didn't want to take it back to the car!

We got 40l of Oko plus cats best, Phil had to carry that to the car, I would have had no chance with that! Our car was ages off, don't know how you managed carrying stuff to the train Susanne, did the shuttle bus not stop at the station as well as the car parks then?

The only monorail i've heard of is the one from birmingham airport to the train station, not sure if they've extended that to the NEC too?

You know, every show I've been to, I've felt that the somails dont' really sell themselves, so to speak.  I think it's because that when you have lots of cats together in a small space, those with the wow factor - be it size, unusual coloruing, extreme features or whatever - are the ones that stand out.  And the more moderate cats tend to fade into the background a bit.  I have to be honest and say that somalis have never really stood out at shows for me.  That's partly because there aren't a lof of them about of course, so not that many in any given show, but I know that they are really special cats and I think more people would take notice of them if they knew what they were like in a home environment.  I'm sort of glad that they aren't too popular because that means that backstreet breeders dont' breed somalis, but I do sometimes wish there were a few more out there in shows.

actually, looking at the photos - I think I saw Phil!  I dont' think I recognised him with his hair cut, but now that I see the photos I think I saw him!  ;D

Sorry all, was too tired when I got home to look at the internet. It was great to meet you all and yes that was me in the pic with my oh.

We had a fab time, got a few freebies and got to snuggle a Selkirk Rex who looked just like Josh with a perm!  :Luv:

Have to say the downside for me was the persians. I was really glad that Candice's friend won as I'm sure that cat is well loved and looked after but on the whole there were some worryingly high noses.

I got chatting to a wonderful pair of ladies in a queue, one of which has a rescue which specialises in pure breeds. She said she had asked one of the breeders why the noses were so extreme and the breeder said it's because the judges don't take a second look at the open faced variety  :(

We heard Witty's pen announced as winner and I got some strange looks as I whooped loudly! Well done Pearl too  :Luv2:

My big success of the day was buying some of Witty's 'nip. I have never seen Josh go as crazy.

If there's any in the auction, I will be bidding high!

I am officially in love with Snowshoes  :Luv2:  I was completely smitten!!

Anyway, Pav and I had a wonderful time, what a great day out. The journey wasn't too bad, pretty much smooth sailing. We met up with the gang after we'd drooled over the NFCs and the Maine Coons (the winner of the show is truly beautiful  :Luv2: )

Here are some pics:

Rosella your memory is good ;)

Me, Sally (in front) Rosella, Candice (standing), Alison (enthralled with her phone) and Den

All in all it was a fab day! It was great meeting those I'd never met before and those I got to see again.

I was soooooo disappointed to miss it - Amber (who sleeps between mine and  oh pillows) was sneezing all Friday night, not just the odd one but 30 or 40 in a row and pawing at her nose, rang the vet on saturday morning hoping to get a quick appointment but the best they could do was 11.15 and not at my local but the High Wycombe site  :( can't believe it missed it - I've had my ticket for weeks - to cap it all the vet said she didn't think there was anything wrong with her

TBH its not the high noses that are the problem its whether the nostrils themselves are wide enough.

Some judges do not necessarily require an extreme look but a long nose is considered a fault.

Bam Bam isn't extreme but he does have a higher nose than my others which means there are certain judges I won't put him under because they prefer the extreme look.

My friend's cat (who is also called Candy!) is of superb show quality and he has no problems with his breathing etc.  He is on the winners page on the supreme website, 3rd one down. ;)

He is lovely  :Luv2: In fact all the last three were. I loved the coat on the white one the judge kept ruffling. There were just a couple in the pens who looked a little dubious. I also saw a couple of pens with no water in  :(

Yes - the amount of 'announcements' telling the owners of cat number whatever to give their cats water/litter etc was absolutely disgraceful.

I think Witty had to help out as they paged twice I think towards mid afternoon for the owner of the cat behind Pearl's pen, saying to please return as their cat was in distress. We could hear the poor baby over by the orientals.

I've sort of finally emerged from a state of semi-comatose hibernation. A 20-ish-plus hour day does that to one. Didn't do much yesterday beyond putting stuff away and cuddling the furry ones.  :shy:

It was absolutely fantastic to meet you all - and it seems I've ended up on the other side of a camera lens for once. :evillaugh: I'd have loved to have joined you in Weatherspoons, but when I've got a cat at a show, I prefer to stay close by.

Am also thrilled that you all enjoyed meeting my special little girl. :Luv2:

Having said that, you all seemed amazed at how petite she was. :shy: But she is sooooo soft and huggable and that comes up quite regularly in her judges critiques. :)

She came second in her class for the third Supreme in a row; twice to the same cat and once to the other cat's sister. But winning the decorated pen competition was just super. I had such fun making all the bits and pieces and it all came together in the end. ;D

Yes, well I was by the pen anyway - just ended up checking whether Sue Sue was OK, but she was fine when I looked. Her meowmy and daddy are good friends of mine. It seems it was just Sue Sue being Sue Sue. :shy: But not putting food, water or litter in the pens, that's just plain wrong. Pearl always has everything even if she doesn't need it.

I arrived home safely at 9:30; no snow, just a bit of a gale and freezing cold. It was really raw when I stopped off at Boxworth services.

Was great day all-round. I did some shopping for my two, getting them some Royal Canin Outdoor 30 and some of that Fish 4 Cats stuff.

My big success of the day was buying some of Witty's 'nip. I have never seen Josh go as crazy.

If there's any in the auction, I will be bidding high!

Glad the catnip wend down well with Josh, Amy. But the stall sold everything I had (toys and loose catnip) so none left for the auction I'm afraid. The only patch of catnip I've got left is the one that Wally the Widdler keeps peeing on, but I don't think you'd be wanting that...... :evillaugh:
