He's absolutely fine now! Breathing's ok again, eating fine, no more runs. My boy is back  :Luv: sitting on the worktop patting me with his paw everytime I walk by, pawing at my arm if I don't respond straight away, :catlove2:   doing his silent meow at me and waiting with the others for his marmite and butter fix LOL! (I have marmite on toast most days, and the residue from marmitey/buttery knife gets put on their plates!)   :yayyy:

Eucalyptus also kills dust mites!  :wow:

Does it?  How interesting!  I know that on one or other of the Greek islands eucalyptus trees have been planted to deter mosquitoes: from memory I'm not sure it worked though  :shify:

Yep! I have birds also and that's how I know about that!  ;) I will try and find a source for you C!  :)

I use eucalyptus in an oil burner to help with breathing, and put the cat in the bathroom with me when I have a shower (and hten leave it running a bit longer than I Would normally to get more steam going).

We use that also...after getting the tip off Des!  ;D

(you would have to make up a concoction for the spray of the leaves plus water!)   ;)

Any chance of putting some olbas oil in an oil burner or on a piece of cloth in the room - might help with his breathing.  I'm not joking, I swear bu olbas oil and everyone at work laughs at me but they borrow it now and again!!  A colleague came back from the vet laughing her head off she was telling me he recommended Olbas oill.

Mary

My vet used to recommend a drop of Olbas on a tissue close by Schui for his sinus problems, I don't think he was keen though as he used to move away (even if I hid it  :sneaky: -) he had a poor sense of smell but it is strong however I remember our Penny loving it.

Unfortunately his medication took a bit of hiccup the past couple of days as he would normally have it some cheese, but he didnt even want that, so I think thats whats affected his breathing

It definitely would, although better safe than sorry so worth having him checked out.  It does sound as if he had a tummy bug though.

He's been very quiet all day (bit like me LOL!) we've all been sleeping beauties today  :evillaugh: but he did eat a little tea, not as much as he would normally, but I suppose if he's had an upset tum he wouldnt would he? Unfortunately his medication took a bit of hiccup the past couple of days as he would normally have it some cheese, but he didnt even want that, so I think thats whats affected his breathing, which sounds a bit noisy again. He's still drinking lots, think I will book him in anyway next week.

Well I didnt make the appointment due to new medication my doc wanted me to try for headaces (see over in General Chatting!) - woke up in a complete fog just in time to cancel and then checked on Sam, who was actually sitting outside looking so much better!

Anyway, when I eventually started to come through my fog - there he was waiting downstairs with all the others meowing for food! But he did look so awful last night and his breathing was noisy which is what worried me more than anything. But its not noisy now, I hope this is the last of it, cos I can't cope with anything today due to this medication. He ate breakfast (or maybe it was lunch LOL!) like normal.

Thanks for your good wishes everyone  :thanks:

Just seen this Gillian and hopefully you are at the vet getting some good news.  You are probably thinking the worse because of Jasper and you are being extra careful cos of the kidney and heart trouble.

We are all the same, because they can't talk we suspect everything.

Thanks  :thanks: I think you may be right about the tummy bug - Ben's just come in from the garden and there was that tell tale wiff as he flounced past me  - oh the joys of long haired lovelies and the squits  :tired: So he's just had quick wash and brush up! He seems fine in himself though.

Sam's drinking loads, even if it is just a tummy bug, I'm worried about the effect of it on him.

Edit, sorry I've just realised I've put this in the wrong place, should be in health I guess  :tired:

Sorry to hear Sam isn't feeling so good, hope it all goes well at the vets tomorrow.

It could be just a tummy upset, and I hope it is   The weather is funny and several humans I know have had tummy bugs.  Keep us posted.

I agree - all the cats have been a bit funny over the last few days. Kylie with her temperature, Alice has just thrown up which is really unusual for her thesedays and Willow is doing nothing but sleeping.

Seems to be something anyway, so far this week Charley was sick and Baxter had a runny bum not sure if it's the weather, stress over the bag of testosterone that is Basil or the fact that I put down whiskas because I ran out of food. Silly as it sounds I find it worse when they have just been sick or done a runny poo, and you can't do anything but wait to see if it's going to get worse or better. It's not enough to make a call to the vet but just enough to make you worry and not take your eyes of them for a moment.
