last night my sister found a little dog sat in the middle of the road :( wet and frightened , it was about 11pm
well she took it home fed it and it slept there
today she has knocked on all doors on street to find no home for the poor thing
i took it to the vets to check for chip but there is none , its about 2 he ses . a little rough coated terrier , i have got it now as although i have 2 children , my sis has a baby and a dog
the vet was going to send it to the dog home were he ses its not good they only keep them for a wk and then put to sleep
i have had it a day and its so sweet , it ant bothered a bit about the cats , its a bit nerviouse, i am wathcing the girls like a hawk
i am going to put posters up where it was found but think if its not claimed its a keeper ;)
i had a terrier from rescue before i had the girls , it didnt like children and died from cancer tumers 5 yrs after i got it and i said never again was i going to have a dog but this little one is soo sweet
she has got large nipplles and a big vulva so i am worried she may be pregnant , the vet said its a possibility but she may be in season as although shes solid shes not got a tummy ! so how would i tell then ?
iv got her a bed to make her feel she has a space and mango has turfed her out of it :shy: mangos the same size as her
i will have to give her a name while we have her
any suggestions - shes scruffy looking ( i have bathed her )

Fingers crossed that if you can't find her owners, she can stay all warm and comfy and cuddled up [Mango permitting] with you :Flowers:

Have you reported her to the police ... i think you need to let them know also the local dog warden needs to be informed. I'm sure they will let her stay with you if she is safe and warm as a fosterer then if the owners aren't found looks like she has found a new home :)

oh - i have reported her to the polic station , vets and posters up , what eles should i do
i think mago thinks shes a dog , she keeps rolling over at her

I think dogs bleed when in season - not sure as have never owned an entire one. If she is in season she may have wandered a lot further than that particular street. Make sure you place posters over a wide area or place an ad in the local paper.

If a member of the public sees a stray dog, they can report it to the local authority. If they decide to take personal responsibility for the dog they must do one of the following things or be liable for a fine. A finder of a stray dog must:
Return the dog to its owner if he or she can be identified
Take it to the dog warden or relevant local authority officer - many local authority dog wardens will collect the dog
Take it to the nearest permanently staffed police station
Keep the dog for a minimum of 28 days but only with the written permission of the local authority.
I assume the local authority would be the dog warden, so once you have rung them and got permission you've covered your bases ;D

I would put a found add on doglost.co.uk .... it's a very active website. Also the national pet register seems to the place alot of people go to advertise a lost pet.

the dog warden rang yestoday and said a lady had lost her jrt but it wasnt mimzy
i was quite pleased :shy:
although i am stll activly asking and advertising
i dont think shes wanted
the more shes been here i relise shes quite nerviouse been unloved doesnt know how to play
she a very obedient little dog and greate with the cats
were becoming attached

Bless her. Have you advertised her on doglost .... she may have been nicked from outside the area and managed to get away which could account for her being so sad and nervy.

Do you get Travellers in your area CC, as they have often "acquire" Jack Russells and it could have escaped from them.

i still have mimzy
i have had a phone call from the warden but it wasnt her and a phone call from a poster but that wasnt her either , so sad for the lady
i dont know if mimzy is a rough coated jrt or a x she is cute anyway
we took her to brid at the weekend wi the girls she freaked a bit at 1st on the sand but we let her off for a run cause she was pulling a lot , she came to life dashing all over running to the sea wi the girls to fill there buckets and then back , shes still very nervy especially if i raise my voice so were trying not to but we have a busy house . Shes very good with the cats she doesnt steal there food and they all get in her bed and she just kisses there face
i do think now she has been dumped or kicked out cause she is very nerviouse at times , its taking time for her to trust us but shes the most lovely little thing and very well behaved , i think shes just gratefull to be warm and fed
its nice now when i come in from school drop off that she runs to the door all waggy and happy
I wish i knew what happened to her !!!!

Ahhh she sounds lovely .... it's great that she ended up with you but I feel so sad for her owners if they are looking for her :'(

sam i really dont think they are , we have herd nothing at all i keep ringing the warden and the posters are still up , the area in which she was found was a bit rough !!! and i have had her injections done and the vet said he thinks she has had a least 1 litter of puppies and she is very youg so they cant be that careing
he thinks they have turfed her out cause she was in season again , maybe they have seen her mate and dont want the hassell with the puppies again
i wanted to get her speyed and he said that we have to waite untill shes in season and do it 2 month after cause hes not sure if she has mated or if she is in season
someone has told me there is a poster up about a lost terrier about 30 mins away so today i am going to have a look
i dont think shes been taken from out of area cause shes not a pedigree that anyone would want to steel i dont think and shes too nervy to have the confidence to run off
i am sure her owners have dumped her because they are fed up of her
shes only young and had a litter
she must have had worms cause her tummy swelling has gone right down from worming
her coat was a mess and tummy and ears had dirt ground into them , she has had 3 baths now and we have just found that her skin is a pnkish colour not black
she has stopped scrathing all the time and nibbling so she must have had fleas
she doesnt know how to play
she doesnt like shouting and runs a mile if you do shout
i will keep looking for her owners sam but im sure shes unwanted now , shes so happy to sit on your knee and be fed and warm

sounds like she came from an unhappy home and was shouted at all the time :(
My Brother in law got a Border collie from the rescue, He has had her for 4 years now, and to this day
is still terrified of strange people, Brother in law said it was about a year and a half before Tez would
Come to Him, and let Him stroke Tez, He think's the previous owners must have locked Her in a small
place or kennel, because when He opens a wardrobe Door or has a big cardboard box, Poor Tez is absolutely
Terrified and will run and cower in a corner :( She is VERY Good with my brother in law " He's Her Dad "
but for the last four years We have been round there regularly, and I still haven't stroked Tez,
She comes near Me Now, but as soon as I extend My hand to pet Her she's Off, It really is a crying
shame that some Cruel :censored: has spoiled this beautiful dog, He has had her to behavioral expert's
and they have said that the fear is so deeply imbedded that She may be like this for the rest of her life :(
anyway..enough ranting.
As least She has found you and will be in a good loving home if you decide to keep her ;)

mimzy has settled a little better
she wags her little stumpy tail all the time now bless
she loves going on her walks and always comes back happily for her lead on
she loves the girls and the cats and is so gentle , even gets out her bed so mango can get in
we love her like shes been here for ever , she wont get claimed now its been 3 and half wks , when her 28 days is up were going to treat her to a new coller and tag and microchip , at the moment she has a bullet tag in case she was claimed
shes still a little nerviouse and if you shout her in the wrong tone of vioce she wees a little and cowers terrified so we are very carefull to reward and fuss everytime she comes and shes become really trusting to us , she loves the girls especially
phoebe age 2 pinches ham for her all the time i think thats why she likes her so much

oh cosmic I'm so glad she has found you! poor little girl (our Star came from a dodgy home and over a year later still cowers at raised voices but doesn't run away anymore at least) I hope nobody comes for her, she sounds really happy with your family
