You simply mustn't give yourself grief over this Teresa.  D'ya hear?

You are a very sensible lady and I just know that your head will be telling you that things like this will inevitably happen on occasion despite all the precautions you take.  If your heart is telling you different, it's wrong and you just cannot afford the time and emotional upset that guilt causes.  Your wards are so very very lucky to have you looking after them.  Garcia would be so upset if he knew you were feeling guilty when he is so very grateful for all you have done for him

It can be really difficult to barrier nurse in a clinical environment let alone a home one so dont beat yourself up, you stop 99% of cross infection and its to be admired  :wow:

Hey Mrs T! Dont you be harsh on yourself... are you expected to walk around in a spacesuit just to stop cross infection? NO!

Wishing all your little ones a speedy recovery, and you I wish peace of mind... you are their saviour remember....  :Luv:

These parasites are highly adapted over many millennia to transmit betwen individuals despite all our efforts.  Look at Heston Blumenthal, whose standards of hygiene are apparently almost as high as yours, Teresa

Anyway, we are where we are so here's to veterinary science and your care - and a speedy recovery for all four little 'uns

T you take serious measures with cross infection,    I know I have seen it first hand when you had Hercules and Hester in a seperate room,  after you had attendned to them you went and had a bath and changed all of your clothes before you would touch any of the other cats,   dont blame yourself,  you will get them all through this

Teresa, it's easier to do nothing and let opportunities to do good pass by, than to involve yourself heart and soul and make a rare mistake.  You make a real difference to hundreds of cats and kittens that come into your care.  You let not one of them pass without caring for them with all your love and strength.  I can't see any reason for guilt, but I see a lot of reasons to give you a hug.

Garcia as bright as a star this morning and eaten well but I fear he will be up and down for a day or two at least.

Oh no - I do hope that the Metacam helps and that the underlying cause can be identified sooner rather than later.

Thinking of you both, Teresa

I am afraid that I have identified the cause of his illness and it is MY FAULT, I have 3 tiny kittens with Flu and a very nasty tummy parasite, despite isolation in seperate rooms I have carried the tummy parasite to Garcia. We are waiting for results of faeces samples to identify the parasite but have a good idea what it is, so kittens including Garcia are now on medication in anticipation of it being this particular parasite, the parasite is so nasty poor Lovealot was passing more blood than poop yesterday.Garcia began to pass small amounts of blood last night; hopefully I will get them all through this; meanwhile I realise that I have caused  little  Garcia  to become so ill after all he has been through and I am feeling distraught and very guilty as there is no excuse.

Garcia is happy, has been playing and is eating this morning, spoke to Andy vet on phone this morning and he is amazed Garcia pulled through. Andy has been convinced that Garcia may have a compromised immune system that has caused the lack of healing in his eye, yesterday he was even more certain, Garcia cant have blood tests yet because it could weaken him further.
He sends his love and thanks to everyone and said to tell you he is now dreaming of having his first girlfriend when he is all grown up

Managed a much needed 3 hours sleep overnight as still night feeding the tiny Sir Alot litter.

Wonder what on earth was wrong with the little chap this morning  :scared:

Our angel Millie had was far less poorly but not good at all for last 24 hrs  :( and is now completely OK again  :)  That was bad enough and must be so much worse when such a very young lad is so much more poorly

Have a good night Garcia  :cat rub:
