i have had cats that were kilo's overweight and it was never mentioned, although I am aware it is one of the risks.

I think cc, that you should use the diet carefully and reduce food very gradually.

To be fair, Desley Tobes wasn't that much overweight and he developed diabetes. Having said that, he didn't have much luck with his health in general. But he was always so happy which is part of what made him so utterly special.

Interesting that your vet would say borderline diabetes for being that slightly overweight. No need to shout to help her diet though, just need to make her work more for her food. LAzer toys and Da Bird are good for exercising them.

The exercise is definitely key.

  At least you are trying to stop her getting any bigger. Having seen the cat on that "Special needs pets" programme I was appalled that a cat could be that big and the family didn't seem to be doing that much.

I was so embarrassed when I took Macey to the vets today, I knew I would be and was dreading it!

Last year she weighed 4.75kg now she weighs 5.2kg, Im not shocked though! I can see her getting fatter cos her head is looking small on her body. She really is a big Mamma!

The vet also said with her weight she is border line diabetes. This has scared me.

So she is now on a diet. I have to get her to exercises more and no biscuits, what so ever. Thats going to be hard, she is already wondering why I keep shouting and taking the biscuits away from her.

Aww poor Mace.

How can I help her other ways?
