:Luv: :Luv: awwwww I love black cats - we used to have one who came to visit us when I was about 14, and he was gorgeous. We just referred to him (creatively) as "Black-cat", but he was a huge bruiser, and as soft and soppy as anything! He used to sunbathe in our garden, come for a bit of a fuss, and then head off to wherever he called home. :Luv:
-
Pics are all so lovely - my family in Canada had an enormous black cat who was the cuddliest boy! :Luv2:
-
Yay, another thread I can join! Here's beautiful Tinkerbella!

Jackspratt - how many cats do you have - you are on Purrs everywhere!! :naughty:
My 13yrs old Smudge is all black and missing since September - someone told me all black cats look alike and I politely told them they were wrong. I've had so many phone calls to go see a black cat that the person thinks is Smudge and it isn't.
You wouldn't think an all black cat could be so adorable but they are. See attached for the proof.

Jackspratt - how many cats do you have - you are on Purrs everywhere!! :naughty:
I have four, Mary. :) I do tend to crosspost about cats needing homes and the like, though!
We did have five until February last year, when we lost Parsley. :(
-
Good for you Jackspratt. A friend of mine used to have 4 cats but unfortunately all in puddy cat heaven now - it was hard work making a fuss of them all when I went to visit her. :)
Mary
-
Here's Blackie my ex feral :Luv:

Good for you Jackspratt. ....it was hard work making a fuss of them all when I went to visit her. :)
It's getting harder work now they're older! I was not required so much when they were out and about more, but with them not being as young as they were they're much more "home orientated" these days! Not that any of them have ever said no to a fuss, it's just more likely I'll be stuck to the sofa for a few hours because I feel mean making the two cats sat on my knee move!
-
I'll be stuck to the sofa for a few hours because I feel mean making the two cats sat on my knee move!
Think we've all been there and done that - how many cups of coffee have gone cold because they're out of my reach when Bonnie's sat on my knee!!
Mary

Here's the love of my life, Kylie - I will try to get some of Willow later if she will stay still long enough!
Kylie has claimed a spare room as her own now :Luv2:
Sorry pics aren't great but I took them late last night.

-
My lovely little man, Doc :Luv: :Luv:

-
and my little baby Cheese - I only have oldish pictures of her on my pen drive

-
Mark, Kylie's gorgeous, those eyes are fab. I know lots of my mates who have had their spare bedroom taken over by the cats, including my own when not in the mood for sleeping with me!
Mary
-
She had claimed the big bedroom but since Willow started sleeping with us, Kylie graciously picked another one :evillaugh:
I want to get a better one of her eyes - they really are the brightest green :Luv2: but she nearly always blinks. I guess I will have to wait for a bright day.
PS - the house is a lot calmer cat-wise now they have a lot more space ;D we have wedged all the door open so they are in heaven :Luv2:
-
Black cats rock! :Luv:
Here's my boyfriend (yes, OH knows... he's resigned himself to the fact that Monkey is my real OH), the incredibly beautiful, ridiculously vain & infuriatingly demanding Monkey Boy! Life would certainly be easier without him... but very empty.

-
I was going to post regarding lack of Monkey pics :Luv2:
-
Looking at thread title I thought "Yes, go Brown team" then I realised you meant cats not Jo. When I can do pics, I will post my lovely Ollie The most beautiful black cat ever. :Luv:
-
Haha Mark - ANY excuse to show off my gorgeous boy!
I got quite cross the other day when we had a visitor - Monkey came into the room first and said hello and the lady was making appropriate noises and stroking him, but then Poppy came into the room (and YES, she is very striking-looking and she does know how to make an entrance), and the lady completely forgot about Monkey and just started fussing over Poppy and saying how stunning she was and so on. >:(
Kylie's eyes do look amazing - you can see them slightly even though she's trying to keep her eyes shut. More pics please! ;D
And Cheesecat - love the pic of Cheese in the washing machine! Like she's been on the receiving end of some racist bullying, and now wants to try to bleach herself a different colour...
-
Wow Monkey is absolutely stunning! Soooo handsome :Luv2: :blow kiss:
Alex - Cheese has managed to bleach her tail before :tired: I was dying my hair blonde and I locked myself in the bathroom (as she has a terrible habit of always wanting to be in there!) because I didn't want her to get any dye on her. Somehow, even though I thought I had cleaned everything off when I had finished, before I let her back in - she managed to get some on her tail and side and she had some lovely attractive red splodges
-
Wow Monkey is absolutely stunning! Soooo handsome :Luv2: :blow kiss:
Shhhhh! We don't want the Monkey to hear! He is already quite full of himself, strutting around and showing himself off...
So I wasn't too far off the mark with Cheese then - she clearly has some issues with the colour of her coat...
-
Cheese is gorgeous Dawn and reminds me so much of Willow - she curls up in a complete circle like that as she is so petite :evillaugh:
PS - glad you changed your name back to something we recognise - I had to PM Ruth yesterday to ask who you were :evillaugh:
-
So I wasn't too far off the mark with Cheese then - she clearly has some issues with the colour of her coat...
Maybe she wants to be Cheesy-yellow :evillaugh:
I love it when Cats do that Mark - she sort of holds her back legs/tail as if shes holding herself in a circle :evillaugh: I think Cheese is probably as feisty as Willow seems from some of your posts!
-
Does she also like being completely covered up like Willow? :evillaugh:
She scatches the sofa which is my cue to cover her up with an airline blanket - she is right next to me now :Luv2:

-
:Luv: Awwwww that is so cute!
Cheese gets under the throws on the sofa sometimes but that is to ambush people/cats unawares from under there rather than sleep. She likes getting under the duvet at night with us though which is so cute - she woke me up this morning rubbing her nose on my face :evillaugh:
Her new obsession is her fluffy radiator bed, I will have to take a pic of her in there as she looks adorable - she always does that thing to look cute when she is getting attention where she sort of turns her head upside down and peeps at me through her paws :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
So much for people thinking that black cats are all alike - if we had a line up we would all be able to pick out our individual cats.
Mary

Black cats are really gorgeous, and all are unique :Luv: The first two are my bridge babies:

Sylvia, what beautiful black cats - Sooty and sweep have perfect round faces just like my friend's cat who is also called Sweep!
Mary

I have to say I am deeply honoured that you started a thread in my name, but i am wondering who all these interlopers are??? :thanks:

-
D'you know, your picture should be on this thread too really! ;)
-
noooooo, it might scare off some people!!!
-
Just got a few of the naughty Willow - she was playing peep-bo on the stairs :evillaugh:
Her eyes are always runny - after effects of cat-flu as a kitten :(

-
Aw bless, good photos Mark - hope she doesn't get her head stuck and you have to ring 999! :naughty:
Mary
-
Mark, great shots! She looks beautiful - such a pretty girl. And I know about runny eyes... Monkey too was a flu-kitten
- but all things considered I'm glad a runny eye is all he's left with! (Especially since it never seems to bother him.)
I will never understand why so many people don't like black cats - to me they're the feline Rolls Royce, closely followed by the reds...
-
I don't currently have any black cats. We had two but they are no longer with us. I would love to get another some day but we don't seem to choose our cats, lol!
Gilbert affectionately known as Giblet :-[ turned up on our door step two weeks after we moved in. He was a really friendly and talkative boy so someone must have loved him. He was full of cat flu, matted fur, pot bellied but thin and soaked to the skin. The vicar visiting opposite thought he had run him over because he was making awful noises. The neighbour thought he might be one of ours, no body ever claimed him and he stayed. He was devoted to my OH and this was his tribute to him after we lost him, its our screensaver:
And enjoying the garden:
Sorry if they are a bit big :-[

I love them too. She has the energy of 6 cats even though she was the runt. She is about 1/2 the size of a normal cat but at 9 years old, has the energy of a kitten :evillaugh: - She runs round like a lunatic :evillaugh:
-
My little black baby :Luv:

Aw bless, I was looking for Ollie's other 6 legs - they are so beautifully long, like one of those big fluffy toy spiders. :naughty: :Luv2:
He's lovely.

No chance, she can fit her whole body through the bannisters :evillaugh:

Thank you. I'll pass the compliment onto my OH who took the pic. Gilbert was his little mate, we miss him so.

I have owned 2 pure blacks, I absolutely adore them and can't understand why they aren't popular.
Molly
(http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b45/booktigger/likeakitten.jpg)
Blackie (RIP) - I dont seem to have any pics of her on my pc or photobucket
-
Molly is a love Desley as I'm sure was Blackie. It is so very odd that some people take against black cats but there are some very strange, stupid people about.
What is amazing is how one pure black cat can look so very different from another :Luv:
-
She is, and despite 15, she has been playing so hard this morning she fell off the bed!! Blackie was a funny cat really, she wasn't good at being handled, and sadly didn't have long here. I can't understand people not liking them, I adore pure blacks, some of my fosters have been rehomed easily, others haven't. And yes, they do all look different, I Can tell which cat's pic I am looking at.
-
All of my life I have adopted strays. The first was a jet black gorgeous lady (pregnant, of course). Nightie, I called her (I was 6). The most recent (jet black one) was Mysh (Myshkin). He was wild. I moved into a rented place for a year and they told me there was this cat around. Well he was. And I put food out for him. He came and ate, but always fled if he even caught a glimpse of me. In Dec. he showed up to feed but could hardy walk. Massive abscess on his leg. Long story short, I got a live trap, tapped him, foisted him on the vets with many misgivings (he was WILD!). Got him back (they had only few bandages. But they were also not keen on seeing us again!). He shot into the house and was rarely seen again. Glimpses I got of him. But more and more glimpses. But the rental was a 1 year thing so we had to move.........
Cornered him, tossed a blanket over him, stuffed him into a carrier and off we went - on a 2000 km car drive across the country. Bit me completely through my thumb when I tried to recapture him after letting him out one night in the motel (well shoot - a guy can't live in a carrier!). And right he was to do so. I wasn't real happy myself.
Got where we were going but it was for 9 months. At the end of that time we moved again - to here. By that time he had lost his fear. LOVED Oliver. Tolerated me but would not yet be touched. And then again I had to trap him (the old blanket thing!) and we came here. I swore to him when I let him out that I would never, ever move him again. And I didn't.
He lived 12 years after that. Became happy. LOVED Oliver. And ultimately liked me too. He was a fine, fine prince. And he's buried next to his beloved Oliver in my garden.
Pitch black. With a soul of fire. And gorgeous.
-
Awww, what a lovely story.
-
Myshkin's story made me cry DM. How lovely that you found each other.

They are all so lovely , and Jack was magnificant

Magnificent is a good word for him actually. There was something about the way Jack handled himself that was always sleek and controlled - he was a stunning boy.

I always think there's something special about black cats! :Luv2:

My friend's little black panther Coda.
-
:wow: beautiful!
I love this thread (and do miss having a black cat :Luv2:)
-
One thing in common with our beautiful babes, is that they all look quite big?! Not big as in overweight, but beautiful strapping specimens :Luv2: :Luv:
Are black cats genetically bigger than any other colours I wonder?
-
Not sure. Jack was very muscular, but Ember my cousins cat (pictured below) is rather more....*ahem* comely than muscular. She's a sweetie, though and remembers my partner and I from when we took her on off the local Freecycle. (She runs up to us and leans on us with her front legs for a fuss. Huge improvement on when she first arrived - she growled like a dog at everyone and was really anti social!)
-
We've had a mixture really, our Squeaky was big and muscular but he was part Maine Coon but Timmy was really tiny and Smokey and Schui were average. We've also had a huge black feral and we have little Blackie who is the smallest of the ferals. All gorgeous though :Luv:
-
Introducing Sofie kitten.
This little minx was put at 9-11 weeks by my vet. She was found by a work colleague in her garden a week or so back trying to be friends with her cats who were having none of it. After unsuccessfully trying to find her owner and knowing I'm a softie where cats are concerned, the lady told me about her and she came to join my gang. She currently lives in my bedroom with 3 of my oldies - Truman, MacGreggor and Stinkey. Although she is very friendly with me, she still prefers feline company and it is either Truman or MacGreggor that she tends to cuddle into to sleep.
-
Moira she is gorgeous! :Luv2:
Whoa just look at Truman....Not that shell of a cat we all seen before! He obviously loves her! :Luv2:
-
she is just :Luv2: :Luv2:

Just thought I'd add mine...

Our Billy Whiz is quite a small boy. Perhaps that's unusual? No idea :-: This shows a good comparison with Freddie who is certainly not a large boy (I know any excuse! ;) )

God there are some gorgeous pics on here!! Yay for black cats!
I'm not sure Vader counts on here as he is black with white underneath and some tabby markings when the sun shines on him, but any excuse for a piccy!
