My partners gran went into a nursing home a few weeks ago. Like idiots we took her cat home because it was left on its own. She is the most amazingly beautiful sealpoint persian, about 9 years old. It has been a disaster. we have many dogs and she hates dogs, we have tried intoducing her to them but as she hates them so much and hisses and spits now they don't like her either. We tried rehoming her but apparently she doesn't like children either so she is back with us. she is living in our downstairs loo and is very stressed she has even gone for us HELP she needs someone. we are in hampshire and would deliver her if not too far.

Like idiots? Why so?
-
I would assume the phrase "like idiots" was used because the cat doesn't like dogs and there are dogs in the home, CC. :)
Welcome to Purrs Dog Lady - so the ideal home for this girl would be a couple with no children or dogs, but possibly other cats? What's her name? Do you have any pictures of her?
-
Have you tried any specialist persian rescues dog lady?

she is so beautiful we thought we would make it work out. how wrong we were. now she is locked in the loo and we feel so cruel but it is the only safe place for her.

Has she ever lived with others cats, or do you know if she gets on with other cats?
I live in Wiltshire (not too far from Hampshire) and know of a specialist persian rescue nearby in Devizes, Wiltshire which might be able to help, the rescue is run by Jo Clements http://www.cat-society-chinchilla.org.uk/rescue.htm
I lost my sealpoint persian Millie a couple of years ago, I'd love another sealpoint, but.......I am full really...... :innocent:

:) Bless her - I think pedigree rescues are probably your best bet.

she used to live with another cat but that was a long while ago so I am not sure how she would be with other cats.

Do give Jo a ring in the morning and see if she can help, even if she can't take her in for rehoming (she's only very small rescue so can't take many at a time) she will likely know someone who might be able to foster her until she can be found a permanent home. If Jo can't help I could foster her myself for the time being - I have a good size spare room she could stay in.
In the meantime, you say she's living in the downstairs loo, presume that means you havent got a spare room you can put her in with her bed, litter tray and food/water etc? If there is a possibility of giving her a room a bit more suitable and away from the dogs that would be better. It would then mean you could plug in a Feliway diffuser just to help her settle a bit because she sounds very stressed and not surprising really with such a lot of changes going on in a short space of time. Feel free to pm me if you need any more info about rescues etc, although I'm just about to go offline now, back on tomorrow :)
