Sean sounds like a fantastic vet.  You obviously have complete confidence and trust in him.  Ignore the other silly woman vet - it's not her cat it's yours.  Please phone to put your mind at rest though I am sure that if anything really bad had happened you would have heard.  Best of luck my thoughts are truly with you and Jake at this dreadful time.  Sometimes tlc works wonders.

I notice that your last post was about 5 am this morning.  There would be no supermarkets open round here at that time.

We have an all night garage which I tried first but they only had jam, I bought this and put some on his gums on the forecourt just until I could get to Tesco's which is approximately 10 miles away.  I really don't think it helped though as there was no improvement whatsoever  :'(

I hope little Jake improves Dawn.

I am going to have to make sure Sean is there before we leave Lily tomorrow  :(

I have never been happy for my animals to see "any" vet and yes it does sometimes cause friction.

Your fist thoughts are with Jake and I do hope he pulls through  ;D ;D ;D

No point in other vets being jealous, its like any other job, the ones who are good and are liked by the client will get the work and its time the others started working that out and improving their customer service.

The problem is in a lot of vets, you do get jealousy when a client will only see certain ones, I found this in the other surgery when Sean was there because a lot of people would only see him.

I don't blame you for wanting Sean's opinion though - from your previous experience I wouldn't want to go by what any of those others say!  :tired:

Today couldn't be helped really as Sean is ill and should be off work.  When I spoke to him yesterday, he was going to do some research and I was going to chat to him today about it.  Any appointments I make, 9 times out of 10 I will go in when Sean is there but I'm worried now because of the way Jasmine was treated.  He's told me if he's not there to text him and he'll give me a ring, if he's there and he's through the back, he will see me which makes me feel a whole lot better.   I felt bad texting him this morning at 8 and then finding out he was ill, I must be his worst nightmare  :-[

Put it this way...

I went on NHS to see a consultant I didnt like the way he spoke to me. So thankfully I was covered on Paul's BUPA so went private.

It is the same. If you are not happy, seek a second opinion go see someone else. You do it for yourself the same applies to your babes.

I always like to see the same vet, he gets to know them. She sounds a real horrid person and she should be proffessional and push what ever happened to one side, after all the cat is the important one. Sending a bit more love to Jake xxxxxxxxx

If she was my vet I would move else where and tell everyone loudly in the waiting room, that i was leaving beacuse she didnt want to treat him. I'd give my money to someone else who did. But thankfully Sean is there. :Luv:

Sean only works there, if he wasn't there, I would have told them to  :censored:  after the Jasmine episode.  Part of the problem I have with her now is she knows I am not happy with her, and it makes me wonder if her attitude is because of my outburst at her the other day and she also knows I think she's a crap vet.  The first thing she did when Jake was dripped up was put a heat mat in with him, chances are she has had a talking to about Jasmine so is not happy with me.  If you take an animal in, usually the vet who is on will take over their care and I know there is going to be slight undertones there today when Sean appears to tell her Jake will be one of his patients.

Who is the practise owner??? is it Sean.

That is out of order, she should give him every chance possible that is why she is there to make him well. I feel she thinks, it's just a feral, and too much trouble, she only wants the ones that will take 2 mins, boosters, quick nail clip, yes he does have ear mites put this drops in.

Oh Dawn you poor thing.  I was so hoping today's news would be more positive.  Sending bucketloads of healing vibes to Jake (and to you).  Your she vet sounds a real bully. She's can advise you but she's not God - she can't make you euthanase.  As you say, when you don't yet know what you're  dealing with how can you know there's no hope?

At least Sean won't let the other vet bully you.

I'm not the type to be bullied when it comes to my animals but I feel better knowing that Sean is there and he will support me whatever decision I make, but if he feels he isn't going to make it, I will probably listen to him.

I pointed out to her that sometimes miracles do happen and she said, they do have a say in how they treat animals and whether it was fair on them  >:(  I do understand this but the way she was saying it, it was implying I was being cruel trying him on a drip.  Her attitude to giving things a try is they are not really there to do that if an animal is on deaths door and chances are they don't pull through anyway  >:(  >:(  I'm sorry but I really can't stand the woman and would quite happily rip her head off, if Sean had that attitude, Shelby wouldn't be here today because she was on deaths door when he first saw her.

Named Sean? :wish:

He is my only hope if Jake is to get through this.  I told him not to think bad of me for trying this last one thing but he knows if there's any hope, I want to give it to him.  If he was an old cat, I honestly wouldn't put him through it but I can't bring myself to tell them to euthanise, I do feel bad but if he makes it, it's all worth it.  Sean also told me this morning that his glucose levels were normal the day before yesterday and yet yesterday they were below, I really don't know what's going on with him and Sean is at a loss too  :'(  :'(

Jake is literally hanging on by a thread today, I honestly thought he'd died, his breathing was that slow.  I took him up to bed with me and put him between us to keep an eye on him, as you can imagine we probably got about half hour sleep.  I texted Sean at 8 this morning to see if it would be worth trying him on a drip although I'm praying for a miracle on him.   Sean texted me back to say it was worth a go but he thinks it's more neurological with him and then carried on to tell me he is off work today because he is ill  :-:  I was gutted to say the least.  I got up to the vets and my worst nightmare happened as it was the vet that dealt with Jasmine, I really didn't have a choice  :censored:  :censored:  :censored:  She really didn't want to get him on a drip and I told her he was my cat, it was his last hope and I wanted the chance, she wanted to pts there and then but I stuck to my guns.  He is now on a drip and he has a heat mat under him, but I really am clutching at straws here but I'm hoping and praying god is on my side in this.  She told me she'll be on this evening with Sean being ill and if no improvement, she wants him pts  >:(  >:(   On the way home, I texted Sean again to tell him who I'd ended up with, he said he was going in and he would look after him for me  :Luv:  :Luv:  :Luv:  I think there must be a god after all  :)
