Nicky (Blackpool Cats in Care) has been alerted to a 2 year old pure black female that was taken into a vets. She's FIV positive and the vets can only hold her until Friday, hence being in the urgent section.
Can anyone help this girl?
(In case people are wondering she clearly didn't come in with a name....I gave her one. Lal means precious.)
-
Have you tried Venture Farm, they have an FIV sanctuary and are very good.

If they can guarantee a place I can temporarily foster until we can arrange to get her there.
-
Moira, you are a total star! I actually called them today and they said if I could find a temporary foster for a couple of weeks and called again then they'd hopefully have an FIV space free'd up!
-
Wonderful, now we just have to get her to me :)
-
Where are you again? Inbox me a postcode. :)
-
I'm near leicester, 5 mins of J22 on M1. I've pm'd you my contact details.
-
Just Amazing
-
Yup, Moira is definitely a gem. :)
-
Transpires Nicky was VERY off with her description. Lal is in fact a MALE black and white cat. He is however around the age she was told, so at least that was right!
He's now at Moiras in need of a new name too because Lal is a female name.... ;) He'll be going to Venture Farm hopefully in a couple of weeks.
-
Boy or girl, Lal is one lucky cat :) Good on you Moira for stepping in once again
-
Well, he is one adorable, sweet boy. No aggression in him and seems OK with other cats. He has met a couple of mine and will be bunking down with Cudley Dudley (the one in the basket) and Tigger, one of my oldies. He has only recently been neutered and is desperate to get out. I have had to put a filing cabinet in front of the cat flap as I am not convinced he couldn't break out. He is quite a big boy, probably around 6kg. A little slim but with a shiny coat. He has big chipmunk pouches which are very endearing. He certainly has a good appetite and wolfed down 2 pouches and half a bowl of biscuits when he got in. I'll try and get some better pics in the daylight. Many thanks to Lucia, the vet who saved him. She was working this morning but took the time to drive from Preston to Stoke on Trent to meet with me for handover this afternoon. She really is marvellous. Knowledge of his origins seem to have been lost in the numerous people/organisations he has passed through, poor boy. I think he originally came from Manchester. He is such a good natured cat I do hope he finds his forever home and can settle down.

Moira, you are a true diamond.
Lal looks exactly like my Sly, they could be twins !
now there's an idea - my Sylvester is named Sly after Sly Stallone, and HE has a brother called Frank.
Would "Frank" suit him? 8)
-
Thanks, Sheila. Not sure about Frank but quite like Frankie.
He has been fine today and not tried so much to get out. It must be so scarey for him but I think he knows he's safe here. He really enjoyed sunning himself on the windowsill this afternoon. He has nasty conjunctivitis but is getting antibiotic eyedrops for it. Hopefully we can get that cleared up soon.
-
Here's Lal's "twin" bro - Sly da sly.
Separated at birth Moira?
-
Gosh, they really do have identical markings.
-
I love this! Yet again, Moira, you've saved the day. :)
I emailed Nicky about the gender confusion and she was totally taken aback.... :evillaugh:
Glad he's doing OK. Will phone Venture Farm and update them today - is it best to ask them to contact me when there's a space or should I just call weekly? They seemed happy to take him when an FIV space was free.
-
I think, JackSpratt, it would be best if they could call you or me when a space becomes available and also, if necessary, jog their memory on a weekly basis if we haven't heard anything. Don't want them to think the space is no longer needed and give it to someone else if they don't hear from us.
-
Well I posted on here last night and its gone! Keeps happening to my posts.
Think I said that Lal looks so pleased in a place that loves cats
-
Thanks, Gill. He really is doing amazingly well considering what he has gone through and to be dumped in a sea of other cats. He has a lovely nature with people too and purrs his head off when he is fussed. He is only 2-3 years old so I am hoping he is rehomed rather than kept in a sancturary, although I hear that Venture Farm is really good. This morning I had British Gas round to service my boiler and he wasn't phased by the presence of workmen either.
-
He sounds so laid back, none of my cats, cept Lupin would do that.
I do hope he will be rehomed too cos he sounds he would be lovely in his own home.
-
He's a gorgeous boy, Moira.......i'm sure Carole will have no problem rehoming him! :Luv2: Thanks for taking him....you are a real star!
-
;D Oh he's gorgeous! :Luv:
Can this now be moved from urgent? and does it want moving to sorted or rehoming?
-
I will move this out of urgent to rehoming, until I hear an update.
-
Rehoming is definitely the right choice, as he'll be off to a rescue when there's space.
Moira - will stay in regular contact with Venture Farm. :)
-
;D ;D ;D ;D

Any news please?
-
Apologies. I thought I had updated/closed this. Lal (now called Frankie) stayed with me and has joined my FIV gang. He is doing well. All infections cleared up. He's a sweetie. Purrs whenever you speak to him. I'll try and get a pic and post later.
-
Moira, me and Sly are chuffed to bits for "twin brother" Frankie, what a wonderful person you are. :thanks:

;D Great news! I'll move this to sorted section now then. We'd live to see updates if you can start a new thread in 'cat's stories' section :thanks:
