Good luck Ruth but I'm sure she will be fine - I know you won't rest until you hear from the vet though

Thank you. I know she will, just can't help feeling anxious. Just called the surgery and the lovely nurse is still there, she said that Lexy was quiet, she'd been under my sweater all day, litter tray there, but most likely won't come out to eat before the food has to be taken away tonight.  She's stressed. I just hope she chills for the night and sleeps.

Well, Lexy is in. She travelled so well bless her, very quiet on her Snugglesafe pad and blankie. I was like a neurotic mum. Pav was at the surgery when I got there so thank god for her because I was anxious. Lexy went off with the lovely nurse and I went off to my sisters.

So fingers crossed for my baby everyone. Surgery is at I believe 1pm tomorrow.

I agree re the Urinary dry - Tom still suffered on that, he did best on wet food and Cystaid (although his was stress related).

As a VN I can 100% say that the wetter the food the better in urinary cases. The dry prescription foods were formulated more for the owners like to feed dry as well as the odd cat that will only eat dry, they have higher moisture than your "average" dry food but obviously not as much as tinned/pouch food. I prefer RCW to Hills, and cats seem to as well. Encouraging a cat to drink more helps a lot, fountains are a good way of doing this.

Cystaid could help cos the stones will have irritated her bladder lining.

If she hates the diet, depending on which type of stone she has in there, there are supplements available to acidify the urine so she could continue her normal diet.  ;D good news when you see what the urinary pouches look like  :evillaugh:

I find urinary dry food an interesting topic, the most important thing is water  :-:

Yes, sorry Ruth, but she will make you suffer long past tomorrow night.  You're her slave.  It's what you signed up for.....  but she also knows you love her to bits, and that'll help to keep her safe.

That, and Paddy of course, who'll be keeping watch over her too  :Luv2:

So now she's wondering around the house and ignoring the lovely warm fire in the living room. She keeps looking at me like I'm about to grab her and take her away

Bless her  :Luv: - thats exactly what Gwyn was like last night after I brought her home, I went to put the cat carrier away and she was off like a shot (well as fast as her little back legs would let her anyway!). Best wishes for Monday.

RWC Neuter Female is apparently the one that reduces the risk of stones so will see. I want a mix of wet and dry for her if possible.

RWC do a neutered female weight and stones wet food: http://www.vetuk.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=62_274_216&products_id=1276

You know what Ruth, tomorrow she is going to love you to bits and make such a fuss of you to make you feel extra guilty and sad. Cats have this way of knowing stuff and getting their timing so wrong for their slave but guessing and  manipulating to make it right for them  ;D

Me too, Des.

Well this morning I'm still the evil witch of the North (well of London at least!) and Lexy is walking all around the house trying to find somewhere to camp. She slept under my bed last night  :( didn't really want to go to her warm bed (with the snugglesafe pad), or mine with my water bottle.  Heating was on and she wasn't interested in radiator bed.

So now she's wondering around the house and ignoring the lovely warm fire in the living room. She keeps looking at me like I'm about to grab her and take her away  :( and then the next minute comes to headbut my hand. Go figure.

Lots of piddles in the tray, no poop still but I've given her chicken last night and this morning to try get her something at least.

I am soooo not looking forward to tomorrow night.

VetUK actually do 4 kinds of prescription food (2 I had heard did them in America, but never seen over here till tonight), as well as some pastes and stuff to help the urinary tract. Might be worth a look and check with vet what she thinks might help.

Lexy - Blip here.  I am sneaking on the pooter whle Meowmy is messing about in the kitchen  :shify:

It is horrid to go to the funny-smelling strange place with the needles and everything, plus you feel rotten for a day or two after you have been but then it is suddenly like MAGIC and you feel like a kitten again.  This is how it will be for you.

Hi Desley.  No, no mention of cystaid since its not something that can help this, but Caroline did say a special diet going forward, whether Lexy likes it or not... well...  I guess I have to be disliked for a while then... its going to be a long winter....

It appears the sedative has worn off... and apparently I am persona non grata in the house. I have had different variations of the evil eye for the last hour...  :-:

She's using the litter tray, no poops, but considering she's had little to eat not surprised. I'll give her a couple drops of metacam shortly to help with the pain and she will chill for the remainder of the evening.   Ignoring me.

Paddy... you has to rescued me.. Is been poked, prodded and its just downright wrong!  >:(  Mum says Is to go doctor gain soon but that it will maked me feel bettered. I don wanna...  >:(

See.. (ok so Sue and I are losing our minds...  :naughty: )

Ruth, Caroline does sound like she's a very good vet, and I reckon she'll look after Lexy to her absolute utmost, but I still know how much you'll worry between now, and getting Lexy back home again safe and sound.  Sending lots of hugs your way.

You know of course that Paddy will be concentrating all his efforts on sending Lexy his telepathic healing purrs to keep her right.   :Luv2:  Yes, he looked very fierce when I said that - very determined. :Luv2:
