I read about this on another forum
http://englishrussia.com/?p=1199
Although they look to be in ok condition from what I can see, they can't have any quality of life living at that density. I wonder if they are all spayed and neutered, and whether she has taken them all in off the streets or whether she just has so many because they are breeding.
edit - just noticed some more information - apparently the males are neutered but the females are not spayed. hmmm...

That's what I would be like if I took in every cat people asked me to! I must say though in the pictures the place looks remarkably clean.
-
I was thinking how clean it was maybe the tv just packed them in there for effect and its really a big flat
-
That must be staged. Imagine how many litter trays you'd need for 139 cats! There only seems to be about 60-70 in the first photo on the link I posted - where are the others? and if the females aren't spayed - can you imagine the noise if there are approx 60 females all coming into heat regularly!
-
It's fake if you ask me. The place is far too clean... :evillaugh:
-
If it's real, it's cruel. How can you not have terrible territory disputes with that many cats in a flat? Got to be fake.
-
She must be amazingly rich to have the money and time to care for them. And they all look so healthy in the pictures. There's something not being told.
I think it's fake.
-
can't be too fake, you can't put that many cats together in a room and have them that relaxed in each others company just for a quick pic. And despite the bedlam when she walks in the door they don't seem to be fighting each other, even over the food. Russian flats are really small, even by English standards, so while it is a horrendous thought that there might be that many kitties in one small space, it seems real enough to me...
-
I am gobsmacked for once !!! & there was me worrying if Litlle Leo would have enough room ! imagine the vets bills ? I can't believe there was no agression or fighting ? very odd.

If you have that number in a small space I think the cats would develop their own ways of coping with the situation, and it wouldnt be in their interests to be fighting amongst each other. Think its more likely they would repress all their territorial insincts - which in itself is cruel, because they're not able to express their natural behaviours - just my take on it, don't know if others think that would be the case?

I really dont know but I did not like seeing so mant cats together like that
